Hello! Summer has gone and passed, and Autumn will soon be arriving !
Province Update
For the past couple months, we’ve been talking about the level work for the new province and how we want to add more visual diversity to the game. We originally said this would take about three months and be finished for the end of September.
Good news! We’re still on track!
Spoiler! As you can see to the left, we’ve updated a majority of the area, and will be finishing off the last levels this month.
This is the first pass of these areas, so they are missing events, NPCs, house interiors, enemies, treasure and so on. Once these are finished, it’ll open us up to being able to add these things along the second pass through.
We’re also looking to add more environmental details, such as bugs flying around, frogs croaking, and grass moving back and forth as you walk through. We have a lot of ideas, and we’re hoping to show you all soon!
Battle Animation Update
This month we also finished off the battle animation updates for ALL of the characters. Yes. Every character now has animations for each of the possible weapon types. Owen has been doing a stellar job with these over the past few months and we can’t wait to show you more in the future!
What’s Next?
Next month we’re looking to finish off the rest of the province, more writing and finish fixing all the user-reported bugs.
Summer cedes soon to autumn, sending signals to the smeevils that the time for another seasonal Dota Plus update has now arrived. The autumn-ready additions that await include several features from the Nemestice Battle Pass transitioning into Dota Plus's core, as well as a new seasonal treasure and refreshed guild quests & rewards.
Nemestice Features
As part of the Nemestice Battle Pass, we improved the Dota Plus Item Assistant with Neutral Item Suggestions and enhanced Quick Buy Recommendations. Though the Nemestice storms have passed, both of these features have now been transferred to Dota Plus core and are available to all Plus members.
For Plus members interested in expanding their in-lane audio libraries, the Chat Wheel sound effects from the Nemestice Battle Pass are now available for purchase via shards in the Dota Plus Shard Store.
Dota Plus Seasonal Treasure
The Fall 2021 Seasonal Treasure is here, available for purchase with shards. Exclusive to Dota Plus members, this treasure features all new sets for Vengeful Spirit, Abaddon, Nature's Prophet, Witch Doctor, Disruptor, Shadow Demon, Tusk, Legion Commander, and Dark Seer. There's also a chance to unlock Ol' Joe the koala courier, a chill little guy preloaded with random prismatic and kinetic gems.
Updated Seasonal Quests & Guild Rewards
Today’s update also comes with a new set of Dota Plus quests to help harvest some extra shards for new relics and the Seasonal Treasure — offering up to 115,200 shards over the course of the season.
Rounding out today's update in addition to the changes above, the guild rewards for silver, gold, and platinum tier guilds have all been switched for the fall season. We were saddened to hear recently of the passing of Aldrin Paulo "Dunoo" Pangan, an icon of the Filipino casting community. As a tribute, for the next season, the selected chat wheels feature some of his most iconic lines.
Fixed an issue where some drop down lists would incorrectly show ID numbers instead of meaningful names.
Added the Mouse Lock feature, which lets you lock the cursor down to a specific window or in some cases unlock the cursor from a window which locked it.
Keyboard Dynamic Repeat and Repeat Next Key now attempts to also match the portion of time which you were pressing the button.
Added Screen Stream Guard as an experimental beta feature. Screen Stream Guard protects unwanted windows from appearing on screen.
Improved efficiency of the Microphone Manager.
Reduced input lag in some cases where keyboard hooks were unnecessarily activated.
Adjusted inter-process communication code to possibly solve a rare performance issue.
Microphone Manager, Loudness Manager, Chill Boost, and Input process default priorities have been lowered from Real Time to High.

This update is focused on fixing bugs and issues. Changes are below...
UMBRELLA
While the tongue from Special Move A is rolling out, it will destroy projectiles it collides with.
Temporarily disabled Umbrella's additional taunt effect that would adjust her Special Move A functionality. This will likely return later.
Taunt now builds Hunger over time instead of all at once, and it builds less Hunger overall.
Fixed a bug where JLK could cancel into Air Throw at any time.
JLK adjusts upwards and downwards momentum further along in the animation compared to before.
Fixed a bug where hitting Umbrella as she caught the opponent with Special Move A's tongue would not release the victim.
Fixed a bug where heavy air normals were building incorrect Drama (Undizzy) values.
Fixed a bug where her Burst was not correctly tagged as a Counter Hit state.
Fixed a bug where some of Umbrella's effects would not be adjusted by vibration during heavy hitstop.
Umbrella's dash jump speed has been increased by 10%.
All chewing and chomping (Throw, Air Throw, Special Move A and B) can now kill the opponent and will play their death scream, instead of waiting for them to be spit out.
Air Throw will no longer trap dead characters in the Bubble.
Fixed a bug where cHK would spin characters around during blockstun.
Umbrella starts with 4 hunger pips, down from 5 and a half.
JMP hitbox extended slightly downwards, to reliably hit all characters crouching if she is in the Ravenous state, as originally intended.
Adjusted Hungern's eating intro animation.
JLP now hits Big Band while he's crouching even if she is rising, but it is still mid while rising against all other characters. Sorry Ben... she learned this one from her sister.
BIG BAND
Fixed a bug where H Brass Knuckles hit sound effect was not playing.
Try your luck in the Lucky Draw event, every day you get x1 free attempt to spin the wheel, and the spent gold coins are awarded to you in the form of points, which can also be used in this event.
