Hullo there! I'm back after a few months away, during which I swam and cycled and hiked and did not really go near a computer. This leaves me woefully out of touch, so honestly you'll be doing me a favour if you tell me: what are you playing this weekend? Here's what we're clicking on.
Now that all your Travelers have gotten introduced to Genshin Impact's new world zone Inazuma, it's just about time for another game update. Genshin Impact version 2.1, called "Floating World Under the Moonlight", is just around the corner on September 1. As ever, the update will bring a new storyline, new characters, activities and oh, also fishing. Of course Genshin Impact is getting fishing. Last up, Mihoyo also give a look at some of the abilities for their big crossover character Aloy of Horizon Zero Dawn fame who will be dropping into the Genshin realm.
343 Industries have often stressed that launch day for Halo Infinite is just the beginning of the journey for the next Halo. That's only getting more true as they announce two big features that aren't making it in for launch. 343 got together for a development update video since the first big technical test to talk results and plans for the future. Campaign co-op and the Forge level editor are both getting kicked down the road into next year.
What do you suppose is next for the 3rd Street Saints? Volition's unapologetically bombasic action series Saints Row is about to give us the lowdown. We've known for a while now that another proper Saints game was in the works, but the developers are now teasing a reveal of some kind for the next game alongside the not so cryptic message "rebooting". We're slated to find out more next Wednesday at the Gamescom kickoff, but here's what we know right now.
Ten years after the release of Skyrim, Bethesda will revisit their fantasy RPG series with... another edition of Skyrim. Yep, still no Elder Scrolls 6 news. But at QuakeCon yesterday, Bethesda did announce a new 'Anniversary Edition' crammed with hundreds of wee bits and pieces of extra content from their Creation Club store. Perhaps more interesting than that, they also revealed that they're adding fishing to Special Edition, in a slightly fiddly way.
Murder puzzle sandbox Deathloop's release date is approaching, and Arkane Lyon have turned up at QuakeCon to talk more about their next supernatural FPS adventure. Particularly PvP, which they'd yet to get deep into the details on. You can catch their panel right here with a good dive on how each side of the PvP coin is a bit different and why you'll want to leave it enabled.
Old school shooters are still in vogue and that's basically a good thing. But I wonder where it'll lead.
G String might offer a clue. As well as having possibly the worst name in history, it's a strange sort of throwback to the early/mid 2000s, an era you might, if you had to say these things for a living, call "middle school". I'm surprised at how refreshing I found that.
The Marshal is an early Season 5 addition to Warzone, and it’s a fun one. This handgun is really a tiny shotgun, with all the expected properties. It has options for Dragon’s Breath Rounds and Akimbo, so there’s a lot of fun to be had even if it won’t be meta. If you want to give the Marshal a try, we’re here to help with our guide to the best Marshal loadout in Warzone.
Want to learn how to create the best build for Amber in Genshin Impact? Amber is widely regarded as Genshin Impact's least desirable party member, but as the second playable character you unlock in the game's prologue questline, you're going to be playing as her for a while regardless of your opinion of her as a fighter. Furthermore, as one of only a handful of completely free characters in the game, this Pyro Bow user is your friend if you're looking to keep costs down in this free-to-play RPG phenomenon.
This week Matthew is away doing other things - how dare he! But Alice and Nate are here with another episode of the Electronic Wireless Show podcast where we play Sweeten The Deal, featuring travelling around the world on a raft with Geoff Keighley, and every live games event being a Psychonauts-style level about your subconscious. How sweet would those deals need to be for you to say yes?
We do also chat about some games as well, including some actual current releases! But the most important question is: if you had to eat an entire gorilla, which celebrity chef would you choose to prepare it for you? Also, apologies in advance for getting the episode number wrong yet again.
