I've had my eye on metroidvania Grime for a while. I mean, when the premise centers around a rock person with a black hole for a head, you bet I'll be interested. And I'm happy to announce that I've finally spent a couple of hours with this planet-sucking mineral man. First impressions? Good!
Space is infinite, so there are infinite ways that you can make a space game. That’s just logic. Everspace 2 is embracing that a little bit with its latest update, Zharkov: The Vortex. It adds a new sector and a new ship, which is definitely in their wheelhouse. But it also adds drone-based Descent-like puzzle missions, turning the early access looter shooter into a stealthy space sneaker for a level or two.
Activision Blizzard's hurricane of shit continues to spin, as it emerges that the company's investors have now filed a class action complaint against them. This new lawsuit claims that Activision Blizzard neglected to tell shareholders about the investigation into their alleged toxic work environment, leading them to be "economically damaged." The investigation, which was carried out by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), led to them suing Activision Blizzard in July over an alleged culture of sexual harassment and discrimination.
Ever since Marvel’s Avengers came out in September last year, the game's player count has been falling faster than old Thanos can click his fingers. Last week, however, Square Enix announced All-Access weekend that allowed gamers to play the game in full for free, and finally, the player count is starting to rise again.
The Bruen Mk9 once dominated Warzone’s landscape, back in the now ancient days of Modern Warfare. Players all across Verdansk were running around laserbeaming each other with its signature 60 Round Magazine. Nowadays, the Bruen is built a bit differently but is still surprisingly strong in Warzone. Revisit this old classic with our guide to the best Bruen loadout in Warzone!
World War Z was surprising in a number of ways. It was good, when I’d lazily written it off (not here or in any public forum, but privately to my cat). It was hugely popular for a time, too. It did well enough for Saber Interactive to keep at it, adding new cities and creating a GOTY edition. And now they’re updating it all again. World War Z: Aftermath is both an expansion to the original game, or a standalone that includes every update so far. It also has two new cities, survivors, a first-person mode, and lots of melee attacks.
Want to learn everything about the Rampage in Apex Legends? This beastly LMG was added with Season 10 of Apex Legends, and sets itself apart from other weapons both with its high damage per shot and its ability to use Thermite Grenades to overcharge itself for a short time, dramatically increasing its rate of fire.

Blizzard Entertainment president J. Allen Brack stepped down from his position yesterday, leaving the Overwatch and World Of Warcraft developers. But he wasn't the only executive to make a departure - Jesse Meschuk, Blizzard's now-former senior vice president of HR, has also left the company. All of this follows a lawsuit that alleged Activision Blizzard's company culture created a "breeding ground for harassment and discrimination against women".
Though I couldn’t name a character or recount a story beat from it, I played Far Cry 5 for 36 hours. That’s not bad. I did a lot of shooting, adventuring and crafting, and then moved onto another shiny treat in my library (or returned to Overwatch). You can probably see and do everything I did during the upcoming free weekend. It stretches from Thursday August 5th (tomorrow) at 2pm until Monday August 9th, and lets you play the whole game solo or with a co-op buddy.
As someone who both plays video games and has worked in retail, my faith in humanity has long since taken on the form of a stain in the carpet of my brain. I've thought about scrubbing it away and starting afresh, but it's been baked in for so long, I didn't even think a double dose of Daz would do the job.
That is, until I started playing MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV. So far, all the cat people and elves and gnomes I've encountered have been - dare I say it - alright. They've actually been really quite, well... nice?
