Armored Warfare - Silentstalker
Commanders!

As you know already, the Merc on Vacation event (featuring three historical camouflages from European vacation destination countries) will start soon. With that being said, that’s not all we are preparing for you for August. One thing we’ll newly be celebrating this year is the Korean Independence Day and today, we’d like to show you the first item connected to it – the Korean Desert camouflage.

Despite being known mostly for its role of keeping the North Korean military in check, the Republic of Korea Army participated in several major conflicts over the last three decades, including Operation Desert Storm, Iraq War and the Afghanistan operation. In Operation Desert Storm, its presence was a token one – a medical team that, nevertheless, managed to treat over 1600 victims during its short stay.

The Iraq involvement, on the other hand, was a more considerable one. As an American ally, South Korea sent a relatively sizeable unit called the Zaytun Division (named after the Arabic word for “olive”) to Iraq. This unit was active between 2004 and 2008 as a peacekeeping force and consisted mostly of medics, engineers, and their security. Over the course of the deployment, over 8000 South Korean soldiers in total saw service in Iraq with the peak size of the unit reaching over 3000 troops. Its main tasks consisted of construction and repair of war-torn roads, power lines and other infrastructure. It suffered no combat casualties during the mission and managed to earn the trust and respect of the locals.

In Iraq, one of the transport vehicles the Zaytun Division was using was the Kia KM450 truck. This was a fairly old vehicle that had its roots in the United States of America, as it was an improved, license-produced version of the Vietnam-era M715 light utility truck. The KM450 was introduced in 1998 and is in service (and production) to this day. For the Zaytun Division, this wasn’t an ideal solution – the truck, while rugged, was not armored and required additional plating for its cargo (or troop) area.

Nevertheless, the Koreans made do with it, as they would during their other peacekeeping operations abroad, for example in Sudan, Haiti, Afghanistan, Philippines, and Lebanon.

These trucks were painted in a desert camouflage consisting of wide sand and green stripes with narrow brown stripes between them. Pattern-wise, this camouflage resembles the standard Korean camouflage, which is itself a variant of the old American pre-1986 MERDC camo. One vehicle that will look nicely in it will be the K-153C Raybolt, which uses a new Kia platform intended to replace the aging KM450.

We hope that you’ll enjoy this little-known camouflage and, as always:

See you on the battlefield!

Hostile Miners:
I am finding some more issues with miners. If you shot at an alien the miners would react as threatened, and aim their guns at you. This should no longer happen. But if you attack them, they should respond like neutral or hostile aliens.

Alien Types:
I have allowed alien animals to appear on the same planets as humanoid aliens. I think this should be more interesting than having just one or the other. Currently, animal type aliens and humanoid aliens should ignore each other, but I am thinking of including some kinds of interactions in the near future.

I fixed a couple bugs:
In the last update, Acknexium miners did not display their names.
The inventory wormhole item was not working with ship storage upgrades, so you could only see the first storage slot when using the wormhole from a planet or cave.

Problem found:
I was informed that the water shader for planet surface liquids would stop working. I have been able to reproduce this problem, but so far unable to fix it. I will be looking at why this is the case in the near future.

Hey Everyone,

We are wrapping up work on the 60th update which is now available in the Stars End library steam`s Beta mode. We expect it to take just over a week or so before update is nicely polished and ready for live. Thanks for being patient with us, and we are glad to be returning to regular updates after the 60th milestone update is finally complete and set live.

This update includes months of background back-end that was necessary for production to move forward, as well as several new fully playable planets like - Tigon, Cassius and Brutus. With more to be enabled in the coming updates.

In addition there`s a large number of fixes and improvements across the board.

Also we have mostly completed all the work required to enable full offline singleplayer in the coming 61st update or 62n dupdate.. However - keep in mind - we will have a full wipe of all the servers coming in the near future with the 61st or 6snd update in order to enable offline singleplayer, and switch to a complete redesigned back-end - including new database, and much faster and improved back-end game engine. We`ll have more updates on this towards mid August. This wipe will also come with improved design to original Beta Prairie update (best time to do it is during the wipe)

Meanwhile - including some screenshots of the new playable planets. Desert World, Sea World, and very alien looking Toxic world. We`ll keep you posted on the progress of the new 60th build in the beta, and as I mentioned before - hope to have it live in 7-10 days. Meanwhile you can already access it by enabling Beta for Stars End in the steam library. Just keep in mind it`s still WIP.
