The Darkside Detective - bursaar
Good news Darkside detectives, we've pushed an update to The Darkside Detective!



As you may be aware, we recently released The Darkside Detective on new platforms (e.g. Xbox, PS4, PS5 & Stadia), as well as a sequel called The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark (which is also available on Xbox, PS4, PS5, Switch and Stadia) and as part of that development process, we made a bunch of improvements for stability and performance to the framework we've built for the Darkside series. Now that the game has been out and stable on multiple platforms, we're delighted to bring all that work to the original game.

If you've had a fairly frictionless experience playing The Darkside Detective, you shouldn't notice much new, but over the few years the game has been out, some people have experienced bugs, and this new version should address those issues.

A complete changelist is:

  • More stable save system, fixed many of the issues that in a small number of cases caused issues with saves becoming corrupted
  • Added the option to save during gameplay
  • Added gamepad control remapping
  • Miscellaneous small gameplay fixes and visual improvements
  • Improved performance
  • Modernised architecture to improve maintainability
  • Fixed gating issues in the bonus cases

Hello, everyone! So it's almost two weeks after we've launched and we want to THANK YOU once again for your support and kindness. It is truly an amazing feeling to see the game we've worked on for so long being so positively received by its players. Thank you, really, it's just mind-blowing to see all of that positive reception we've got so far. Thank you for playing, for reviewing, for participating in so many discussions here on Steam and our Discord server and for... well, caring about the game so much that you decide to do this!

We're reading everything you write and we're trying to react as fast as possible and today we have a new patch for you.

We decided to publish this note as a bigger thing, not just a patch note, because this patch contains something really important - additional fixes and safety measures that should prevent either the horrible crashes that some of you suffered from or, if not the crashes, then at least corruption of save files.

But before we get to regular patch notes and explaining what's changed in Patch labeled v1.00c - we have something really cool for you! Here's how you've played the game since launch! :D

MAJOR FIXES
  • We've implemented a save backup system to ensure that players don't lose their progress if their computer crashes during saving.
  • We've probably fixed an issue which was corrupting save files after PC crash/power shortage/etc. Unfortunately, we're unable to restore broken save files :(
  • We've fixed the "freezing victory screen" issue.

Quality of Life
  • A new option in settings allowing you to disable quick cast of cards when there is only one target.
Bugfixes
  • Super fast Meat-eating bug fixed.
  • Fixed currency gain on Difficulty 15+.
  • Lifesteal now heals the correct damage dealer.
  • Fixed broken loop animation of the Wyrm.
  • Fixed animations of Deer.
  • Fixed water flickering on map.
  • Fixed ending turn on keyboard (no need to hold the button anymore).
  • Fixed disappearing items on the loot screen when playing on higher resolutions.
  • Fixed the problem with extending masteries descriptions.
Gamepad fixes
  • Reworked using an Ultimate with a gamepad.
Locations and Story
  • All-Mother's Altar should be always available in map generation.
  • All-Mother's Altar's fight fixed - Exit should work properly.
  • Futhark should provide correct runestones.
  • Marketplace will show proper dialogue after overpaying.
  • Mysterious Witch will disappear after you decide to Leave.
  • Unblocked the Seeking Traveler questline (fixed a blocker of the Witch's quest: when you've refused to give him candles after getting the quest).
  • Reduced the chance of finding the Countess in a really bad mood from 50% to 10%.
  • Wyrdness events won't prevent you from leaving them anymore if you don't have enough money/hp/items (but trying to leave them will probably kill you).
  • Candlemaker's nightmare shouldn't spawn anymore after you're done with the Candlemaker's questline.
Items
  • Gar runestone in Armor slot activates at the end of whole turn, not yours.
Cards
  • Duplicating Woolsey won't fill your deck with obsolete Pet the Dog cards.
  • Deadly Lust now provides only one Lifesteal status.
  • Chained shot now displays bonus damage.
  • Blood Fabric now correctly interacts with passives modifying offering values.
Passive Skills
  • Apostate's Ante should always work properly.
  • Apostate's Ante and Raise should be showed as active in combat.
  • Apostate's Precise Sequence should reduce enemy's armor by correct amount.
  • Zealot's Loaded Weapon should now increase player's damage.
  • Berserker's Wide Swings should now deal damage.
  • Berserker's Blood Oath now working correctly.
  • Tier 2 Boss's Rewarded Patience has a counter.
Enemies
  • Bone Idol's HP bar looks empty after gaining immortality.
  • Faceless Hunter now deals a maximum of 10 Hits.



We're going to announce more in the coming weeks, but there are two important things we need to share with you right now!

  • While we're fixing bugs and preparing some Quality of Life fixes, we're also working on making the game run better and smoother on all PCs. If all goes well, we hope to get the first improvements ready within the next 2-3 weeks - we're testing things now and we hope that they're going to reduce the GPU demand of the game!
  • We think that we're going to have German and French translations ready for internal testing either this Friday or early next week. Polish is taking a bit longer, unfortunately, but we're ALMOST done in terms of text -- and after text is done, all that's left is testing-testing-testing. So, let's all hope that we'll be able to share the translations next week. We'd really love to get this to you as soon as possible!

Today we are gonna travel to South America to meet the largest of the genus Ara - Red-and-green macaw.

Red-and-green macaw


The red-and-green macaw, also known as the green-winged macaw, is a large, mostly-red macaw of the genus Ara. It can be readily distinguished from the scarlet macaw. While the breast of both birds are bright red, the upper-wing covert feathers of the green-winged macaw is mostly green but can occasionally sport a few yellow feathers above the band of green (as opposed to mostly yellow, or a strong mix of yellow and green in the scarlet macaw). In addition, the green-winged macaw has characteristic red lines around the eyes formed by rows of tiny feathers on the otherwise bare white skin patch; this is one of the biggest differences from a scarlet macaw to the casual viewer. Iridescent teal feathers are surrounded by red on the tail. If seen together, the green-winged macaw is clearly larger than the scarlet macaw as well.

In terms of length, this species is second only in size to the hyacinth macaw, the largest of the macaws. The red-and-green macaw attains a total body length of 90 to 95 cm (35 to 37 in) in adults. Twelve adults were found to average 1,214 g (2.676 lb). A weight range of between 1,050 and 1,708 g (2.315 and 3.765 lb) has been reported. While its weight range is broadly similar to that of the hyacinth, the average weight of the red-and-green macaw is slightly surpassed by both the hyacinth and great green macaws, and amongst all living parrots additionally by the kakapo.



They are social birds, living in pairs as well as gathering into family groups or small flocks, consisting of 6-12 individuals. In feeding trees and at clay licks, however, these birds can occasionally be seen in even larger flocks, mixing with other macaws and making a lot of noise, each bird demonstrating its full vocal range. Green-winged macaws are diurnal, spending most of the time under the dense cover of rainforest, where they find shelter as well as socialize and feed. They also spend a lot of time, playing and cleaning each other's plumage, removing lice and ticks from the feathers. If you see 3 or 4 macaws together, it will probably be a pair and their young. These birds are extremely shy, rarely seen in the foliage. Feeling danger, the bird immediately flies off, emitting loud screeches.



Distribution
The natural habitat of this bird is tropical rainforest, lowlands and foothills. They are mainly found in interior regions, rarely occurring in coastal areas. The area of their distribution is partly Central and South America, stretching from eastern Panama to Colombia, Venezuela, the Guianas, across western part of South America from eastern Ecuador and eastern Peru to northern and eastern Bolivia; then throughout eastern South America, including Parana and Mato Grosso in Brazil, reaching Paraguay and Formosa in northern Argentina.



Conservation
Deforestation is among major threats to this species, leading to loss of their natural habitat. The bird is frequently hunted by the indigenous tribes due to its motley-colored feathers. Along with other parrot species, this bird has been captured for the pet trade. Presently, this macaw is protected by CITES II, prohibiting its capture and trade. And finally, the Green-winged macaw is nowadays extinct in some parts of its original range such as Argentina.



The exact number of their total population is unknown, though presently decreasing. On the IUCN Red List, the Green-winged macaw is described as “fairly common” and classified as a species of Least Concern (LC).

Chronicles of Tal'Dun: The Remainder - Act 1 - Patrick
After many months of creative work, we've finally created something that we think captures the spirit of our vision, a dark fantasy tale of mystery, self-discovery, love, and forgiveness.

The game was inspired by our love for interactive narratives, tasteful visuals, haunting sounds, and just a genuinely good story that takes you on a journey. We wanted to make something original, intriguing, and takes a bit of puzzling out. A mystery that draws you in and won't let go.

In the course of the last few months we taught ourselves how to write, program, make music and manage a project. It had been a fun and exciting journey, and we're only getting started. There is so much more to the world of The Remainder that we want to tell, starting with the tale of Ilar and the high magus who lost their memory, or in other words, you.

This was our first game, we had no idea how it was going to end up, but we never doubted that we'd make it happen.
