Rec Room - Coach
We've got an exciting one this week. You're gonna want to make sure you're sitting down for this...

Since the dawn of gizmos (and maybe even before), creators have been making rooms which put you in a vehicle and move you around. The classic trick, used as far back as 2018, was to keep the player in one place, and instead move the entire world around them. Things got a little easier once we added proper support for moving platforms, but it still hasn't quite been possible/easy to just sit the player down and move them around... until now!

Announcing Seats!
  • There's a new BETA Prop in the Maker Pen Pallette: The Seat. It's a small cushion that Players can interact with to be Seated onto stuff! It includes a CV2 Circuit Board that allows you to put players on or off of the Seat, as well as restrict them from manually getting on or off. Make sure to enable BETA objects in your room if you want to use the Seat prop!
  • Players can now "sit" on Seats on all platforms! This means:
  • When you grab a Seat cushion on chairs and couches, you'll be automatically transported to the Seat, at a reasonable height, and facing forward along the Seat's orientation.
  • While Seated, players' movements are restricted to stay within the Seat.
  • While Seated, players' bodies are rigidly attached to their Seat. If the Seat moves, rotates, tumbles, or goes upside-down, the seated player will go along for the ride!
  • All old chair-like Props (Chairs, Couches, Stools, etc.) have been upgraded to use the new Seated behavior. If you don't want that in your room, you can disable it through their Configuration menu with the Maker Pen.

General Improvements and Bug Fixes
  • We're working on giving creators the ability to create currencies inside their rooms. You may see some new beta chips/props related to currencies, but these are currently in closed beta while we work out the kinks - we're looking forward to making them available for everyone soon!
  • The following Circuits V2 chips have been moved out of beta:
    • String Contains
    • String Get Length
    • String Split
    • String Split at Index
    • String Substring Index
    • String To Lower
    • String To Upper
  • The following Circuits V2 chips have been added to beta
    • Angular Velocity Add
    • Angular Velocity Set
    • Player Left Hand Orientation
    • Player Right Hand Orientation
    • Quaternion Create Angle Axis
    • Quaternion Create Euler Angles
    • Quaternion Create From To
    • Quaternion Create Look Rotation
    • Quaternion Euler Angles
    • Quaternion Inverse
    • Quaternion Rotate Towards
    • Quaternion Rotate Vector
    • Quaternion Slerp
  • Fixed an issue where having too many CV2 wires in a room could cause them all to not render at all.
  • Club announcements now appear in the messages menu.
  • Fixed a rare crash with Sticky shapes.
  • Spatial audio now works correctly in SFX V2.
  • Fixed a bug where the UI would break in front of sparkle effects.
  • Fixed a bug on iOS where the number in the notification badge wasn't being reset properly.
  • Fixed default sorting for Play menu search results.
  • Fixed scrolling issues on the Play menu.
  • Fixed a bug where changing the sorting on some UI pages would cause a blank tile to appear.

As always, thanks for playing Rec Room!

We love to hear your feedback, so please don't hesitate to let us know what you think...
Above the Fold - Rasmus
This is a relatively small update, but nevertheless features an important change to the game. Specifically, the strategic goals victory condition has been cut in half. If you complete 25 strategic goals, you win the game - where before you had to complete 50 goals. Strategic goals are given to you periodically throughout the game, by the mysterious Owner.

On the backend, this patch also marks an update in the game engine. Several bugs popped up after the update, and were promptly eliminated before the update. However, if you find one I missed, please do not hesitate to report it.

With the win condition change, you are that much closer to unlocking the achievement. Good luck!

Changes in 8.2.2
  • Changed: You now need to complete 25 strategic goals to win the game (down from 50)
  • Changed: Upgraded the game engine, which led to several new bugs, all of which were hopefully caught
  • Fixed: Crash caused by trying to load a non-existing sprite on the Editor's Desk screen at the end of day

No Ghost in Stay Home - MidoriGames/Midoriko
Thank you very much for your feedback👻
We've fixed two bugs that were interfering with the progress of the game based on the information you provided.

-It was possible to move from one screen to another during the coin tally (and then the operation became impossible).
-Cocoon or the man in the cage would sometimes turn into a mutated potted plant.

Please continue to let us know if you notice anything on the community board, email, or Twitter DM.
Please stay healthy!

Blackout Rugby - World Cup Edition - MEGAPARSEC

Spin Rhythm XD - Spin Rhythm XD
Hey spinners, just giving you an update on what we plan on releasing over the coming months.

We do have a small update incoming, which includes MP3 support and an update to the calibration tool. We aim to deliver a tool that will let players compete with confidence, as well as include video latency calibration for TV players.

We have a long list of cool, fun and interesting things that would make the game slightly better, but we tend to go down rabbit holes of trying things, cutting them, experimenting and so on.

We sat down recently and made a plan to lock down all of our 1.0 Steam / Switch features in mid-August. This is to ensure we have enough time to properly playtest and produce launch / DLC trailers to target a mid-late October launch.

These features include:

  • XD beginner experience
  • Calibration tool update
  • Tutorial update
  • DLC content
  • Achievements
The main thing that has caused us delays so far has been prototyping and throwing away single player experiences. It always blows out in scope and leads us back to square one.

We want to implement something involving completing simple challenges to learn the game's tracks and systems, something beginners can jump into and track their progress.

We always planned to support XD beyond 1.0, so we will save the following potential features for future updates. Some of these are weighted more heavily, some are easy to implement, some quite difficult.

  • Editor update
    - including trimming levels, selectable backgrounds, mouse controls and QoL
  • RemiXD levels
  • Scoring system improvements
  • Weekly w/ mutators
  • Split screen multiplayer
  • Steam trading cards
If any of this list is something you were deeply looking forward to, then I apologise.

As always, thanks for your support and patience.
