Starting today, we will provide you with important news on the development of Catizens and the creation of our feline world. Let’s begin!
Today, we'll tell you about the range of diversity in the world of Catizens. The inhabitants aren't anonymous whiskered drones that simply complete tasks, they have a purr-sonality to match and a life of their own.
Each cat can have up to three traits that form the basis of its personality, and we did our best to make sure none of the traits are definitively positive or negative.
For example, brave cats are excellent fighters who will rush headlong into battle – they’re your furry defense against any troubles, be it wild animals or more dangerous, monstrous creatures. But be careful, for valorous knights will even go so far as to sacrifice their lives to protect their friends. Be sure to keep an eye on them, or they may perish while protecting the town!
Many traits are necessary to unlock objectives and fulfill tasks. Cowardly cats will avoid any kind of battle and hide until it's safe for them. However, with a cowardly catizen, you'll gain access to the training dummy. Who, after all, better understands the importance of self-defense than a coward? Their cat-titude is: “If I'm not ready to protect the town, someone else will have to be!"
Nocturnal cats prefer to sleep during the day – once the sun sets, their energy is boundless. If you need work done after dark, or if you’d just like to observe some feline nightlife, nocturnal cats are the cats for you. And they’ll even provide you access to lamps to decorate the town.
Pets of all kin and kind will be under your control — gregarious and shy, lazy and eager, pacifists and curmudgeons. There are dozens of traits to be explored and endless paw-sibilities for different catizens! With the right approach, cats can build a prosperous society together ...with your help, of course.

I’m happy to announce we’ll be participating in Steam Next! Steam Next is an event where players will be able to check out all kinds of games for free before they are released. It starts on June 16th and goes for about a week. Yes, you'll be able to play the current version for free on Steam!
For the players that have been playing every week, not a lot will change, but I think it might be a good opportunity to get the word out to other players. That’s why we’re planning on using the time until then to fix issues and work on quality of life things for the most part. I don’t know how it’s going to turn out, but it could be exciting.
Other Changes
While I was mostly busy with preparations, I made sure to handle the most important reports and added a small amount of improvements
Please report any bugs to the bug report section here on Steam. When possible please form one thread for each bug versus multiple threads for the same issue- it helps keep the community information together.
And if you haven't already, don't forget to join our Discord!
Have a wonderful day and stay safe!
NEW CONTENT:
ADDED - The Oil Pump:
- Power Required: 150 - When an oil pump is constructed and has power, it will fuel available mineral extractors.
Recipe:
50 X Iron Ingots 20 X Steel Ingots 20 X Mechanical Parts 20 X Electrical Parts
ADDED - Iron Spike Trap
- Spike Trap Upgrade - 500 Durability - 0% chance of being destroyed in 1 hit like the regular spike trap - Can be repaired using Iron Fragments.
Recipe:
20 X Iron Fragments
ADDED - Potato Paste
Consume to remedy sunburns and will increase your sun resistance by 25.
Recipe:
1 X Clay Bowl 1 X Potato
NEW VITAL STAT:
ADDED - Sun Resistance and Sunburn
When out in the sun, your sun resistance will slowly decrease. Once at 0, your thirst depletion rate will be increased by 3. You can avoid sun exposure and replenish your sun resistance by taking cover in the shade or inside your base. If both your sun resistance and thirst hit 0, you will develop a sunburn.
- Sunburns will slowly reduce your health if not treated. - Craft and use Potato Paste to remedy sunburns. - Any shadowed area (such as behind a tree) is considered to be shaded. - If a day is cool, sun resistance will reduce at a slower pace. - Days that are dark, cloudy or below freezing will not reduce sun resistance. - Thirst depletion rate increased by 3 when your sun resistance is at 0. - The sun is considered less strong in the evenings and early mornings, so the depletion rate is reduced.
OTHER ADDITIONS AND CHANGES:
CHANGE - Stone Grinder: Each stone will now grind into 10 sand and 2 Iron Fragments instead of 20 sand and 3 fragments.
CHANGE - I changed how dropping/spawning of items are handled. Items will drop at the players feet instead of a random distance in front of the player. This will solve the issue of items spawning on the other side of walls or landscape. The same applies for objects that spawn items, such as boulders.
CHANGE - If a players thirst is 0, your stamina will now reduce to 0. (Previously the player took health damage)
CHANGE - Players warnings bottom left of screen when a player is injured or hungry etc will now flash. Many were not noticing those icons there and hopefully this should help catch the eyes attention.
ADDED - Sound effect when hungry (stomach gurgling) ADDED - Sound effect when thirsty (breathing/sigh) ADDED - sound effect when energy is low (tired/yawn) ADDED - sound effect when heat resistance is low (breathing/sigh)
BUG FIXES:
BUGFIX - There were additional instances where the log cart would end up under the landscape or in large boulders resulting in players losing sight of it.
Can you believe it? Lumberhill is coming out next week! We’ve already got our axes well sharpened and we’ve ironed our flannel shirts so much, they’re starting to wear through. We thought we’d take this calm before the chaotic storm of chopping that’s to come to give you some more details on the different game modes that Lumberhill has to offer as there are quite a few!
Co-op Mode
Up to four players can play in Lumberhill whether those four people are all sitting in the same room, are friends spread across the globe, or potential friends-to-be (AKA strangers) on the internet. So in other words, you can play Lumberhill locally or online. If you’re playing online, you can host a private game and invite your friends to play or you can host a public game that anyone can join (or join one yourself!).
PvP Mode
When you’ve had enough of your friend’s excuses as to why they keep delivering BIRCH logs instead of OAK logs to the sawmill and you keep only getting one star, try out PvP mode! In PvP mode, half of your team will take nature’s side and transform into a variety of wild animals while the other half will play as lumberjacks but basically in hardmode (as now you’re being specifically targeted). Playing on nature’s side, all you have to do is keep your lumberjack friends from completing even a single task before time runs out to win. You may find that chasing your friends off of cliffs is your favorite part of the game! PvP mode can be played locally or online in private and public games.
Solo Mode
If you’re looking for a quiet time in the woods on your own...well Lumberhill is pretty chaotic so we can’t say how quiet it will be, but we’ve got woods! Have everything done the way you think best when you play in solo mode with no one else in your way (besides nature of course). And don’t worry about the difficulty, tasks are adjusted to the amount of players in a game so you should be able to get the job done solo with just the right amount of challenge.
Which game mode sounds the most appealing to you? Are you planning on mostly playing online or locally? Let us know in the comments or on our Discord.
Bryan - This week I’ve been making tons of icons and buttons to handle setting up custom control schemes. Since we want all keyboard buttons to be remappable I’ve had to create custom art for amenities that display input prompts, like Coffee Showers. It’s not glamorous work, but it’s gotta get done! Here’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Lauren - This week has consisted of video editing a bunch of our gifs for social media platforms. It's been a super fun process, and getting to look back through the game's development has shown me how far we've come! I've also reached out to more streamers to try out our demo and remote play in my editing downtime!
Ian - Was a short week for me because both my mother and my mother-in-law were in town! I was able to find a little time to start my venture into integrating the game with more Steam features, including cloud saves. Was a surprisingly easy process, with no code involved. Just had to tell Steam about what files to pay attention to and everything else was a snap. This coming week we are going to start hooking up achievements, so let us know if you have any requests ;P
A quick update for a quick week. Keep an eye out for other updates about the game coming soon!
Encased: A Sci-Fi Post-Apocalyptic RPG - Iron_Orca
Dear subscribers! Once again, the latest issue of the post-apocalyptic CRONUS Weekly is on your screens. Can anyone hear us?
The release of the Encased content patch 5 is finally behind us. Thank you so much for your feedback and bug reports. We read them all carefully and are fixing bugs right now. But what awaits our players next? Today we'll try to tell you about it!
City. Bastion of the New Committee
The full version of Encased is scheduled for release in the fall of 2021. The city will be one of the first new locations players will see.
Many houses, gas stations, snack bars, the Maelstrom Church, the Senate and other important buildings await brave adventurers. This is where the elite of the Dome gather and the most important questions are discussed. Will you become part of the political games or will you choose your own path?
Carmine Heights. Engineer Paradise
Carmine Heights is yet another story location of the full release. Here scientists and engineers explore artifacts and conduct the most daring experiments. The settlement is full of high-tech weapons, armor and useful artifacts. Will you be able to get all of them or will the guards be stronger than you?
New Dangers
Players will not only travel through cities and towns. Right now we are polishing dozens of locations throughout the Dome. Abandoned stations, research camps and new arenas await you. Even familiar locations from before the incident will be presented in a new light of a post-apocalyptic setting. Your journey under the Dome is just beginning, employees.
Encased community is the most important for us - we are going to follow up those closely for your feedback on the game.
The game is still in the development so if you want to stay in touch on other channels than Steam you can follow us on social media and visit other cool resources with game updates information new artworks and lore pieces.
