Hi TennoGen artists!

With Gara Prime and the Gara Kaleida skin, you may have noticed an upgraded glass effect that is far more luminous than the original Gara's glass. In the spirit of sharing knowledge and best practices, we've put together a guide on how TennoGen artists can achieve this new luminous glass effect for their own future creations!

You can read our simple, step by step explainer on how to recreate the latest glass effect right here

Please note that there are no expectations or plans for the new effect to retroactively apply to existing in-game items. This guide is for TennoGen artists who want references on making new glass creations.

We hope to this new workflow suggestion inspires your future creations!
Cyjin: The Cyborg Ninja - jiravatm
Hello everyone!

Welcome to the third dev diary of Cyjin: The Cyborg Ninja. Today, we will be sharing more information about what you all could see yesterday in our official Kickstarter trailer. This video was focused on several stages you haven’t seen before; and one of them was the Downtown, a level that takes place in the city center.

As you know, the whole game is influenced by this Asian cyberpunk aesthetic that’s almost focused on Japan. To create this level, we looked for inspiration in the city of Tokyo. Starting from its current appearance, we tried to imagine how it could look in the future if it got transformed into a futuristic flying metropolis dwelled by robots.

Like in the real Tokyo, trains are part of everyone’s everyday life. They were used as backgrounds in the previous level, but there are many areas in this level where Cyjin must use them to reach other platforms or dodge attacks. These vehicles move super fast, so use them carefully to get through the level!

Also, be careful when crossing the huge streets of the city center. The road is always full of traffic, so it’s easy to get hurt if you’re not careful enough. Doesn’t it feel a bit like Shinjuku?

In this level, you’ll also fight new monsters and the members of a criminal organization: the Ittan-Momen Yakuza. Downtown is under their control — and they’re not precisely kind to those who enter their territory.

But not everything is dangerous in the Downtown! You’ll have the opportunity to visit a beautiful Shinto shrine... that comes with a boss! As seen in the trailer, you know who awaits you at the end of the level: the Nine Tailed Fox! See it in full display.

Ultimately, we also added a new feature in our game: a definitive skill that allows Cyjin to throw a shuriken that tears everything in its path. The ultimate gauge fills up whenever you dash and damage an enemy.

This is all for this dev diary! Our Kickstarter campaign is launching on June 9th and we still have a lot of work to do. If you like the game, please follow and support Cyijin: The Cyborg Ninja on Kickstarter:

Stellaris - MrFreake_PDX
Greetings!

Today I am here to announce some very good news! Stellaris is not slowing down, but rather picking up the pace! We at PDS Green are very happy to announce our new “Custodians” initiative as well as the next free update, coming sometime after summer.

The Custodian Team

Stellaris as a game has been very exploratory, and the game has seen a lot of big changes over the years. I want to start by giving some insight into why we’ve chosen to focus on this initiative.

As we’ve released more expansions we’ve had to take longer and longer between each release, as we’ve needed to spend more time on focusing on quality, making sure each release is as stable as possible. Paradox Development Studio also looks very different today vs. how it looked just a few years ago. Things take longer, there are more processes in place, and there are a lot more people involved. Because each release is now further apart, it makes it harder for us to address some of the outstanding issues that might be affecting the community between DLC releases.

As we’ve added more content it's also been harder to polish and maintain all of the amazing existing content that we’ve added over the years. We want to keep creating new cool experiences for Stellaris, but we also want to be able to maintain a high quality for the base game itself, and for older content.

What we have done now is that we’ve staffed up, and split the Stellaris team into two teams that focus on different aspects of the game. One team, that we call “the Custodians” team, will focus on free updates that we aim to release every 3 months, while the “expansion team” will focus on creating new content for the game.

Examples of what “The Custodians” could be working on:
  • Tweaking game balance
  • Adding new content to old DLC
  • Polishing existing content
  • Bug fixes
  • Performance improvements
  • AI improvements
  • Multiplayer stability
  • UI and quality-of-life improvements
This does not mean that the game will suddenly “be fixed” or done (whatever that means). Together with you, the community, we now have a better opportunity than ever to keep improving the game. In fact, I think working with the community is going to be crucial to really make this work well. We are going to need to improve how we communicate with each other, so that we can better understand each other.

What “The Custodians” initiative is not
It is very important that you understand that “The Custodians” initiative is no magic bullet or quick fix. We’re in this for the long run, and we hope you are too.

We will need to manage our expectations and small, incremental improvements with more regular updates should be our approach.

Honoring Stanislaw Lem

The first free Update, the Lem Update, will be named in honor of the Polish sci-fi author Stanislaw Lem, whose 100th anniversary is being celebrated this year. Stanislaw Lem is famous for works such as Solaris, which has already inspired the Stellaris you know today. The Lem Update is currently scheduled for release sometime after summer.

To set expectations more clearly, the Lem Update will be a bit more ambitious and larger in scope compared to what you can come to expect from “Custodian” updates in the future. The reason is that we’ve had a longer time to work on it than what is planned for future updates. It’s also important to note that as of now, the Lem update is scheduled to be a standalone free update, and will not be associated with a paid DLC.

The Lem Update planned features:
  • Buffing the Backlog: We’re reviewing some old DLC to revitalize them with some new content. Humanoids Species Pack and Plantoids Species Packs will now feature some new gameplay features. By the way, did anyone say Necrophage Hive Minds?
  • Selectable Traditions Trees: You will no longer be locked to the same 7 tradition trees, but you will instead have 7 slots that can be filled with a tradition tree of your choice. The number of tradition trees will be expanded, and previous tradition-tree swaps will be broken out into their own trees (Adaptability will no longer be a swap of Diplomacy for example). Some new tradition trees will also be added to existing DLCs.
  • Balance Pass: We will be doing a balance pass on some existing gameplay systems and features.
  • And more..!: Quality of life improvements, bug fixes, AI improvements...
We will go into more detail about these features in future dev diaries, but for now I will leave it at that. We’ll be back next week to talk a bit about some thoughts regarding game balance.

No longer will your empire have to suffer the mediocrity of artisans.

Friendly Fire? Number of players per server? Werewolves?!
We just revealed new information, artwork, and more in our new Dev Blog.

In this new Dev Blog, we share more details regarding combat, inhabitants of the world (living/undead, humans/beasts), the consummation of blood, raising castles, general development of the game, and much more!

“V Rising offers a vast open-world, with room for at least 50 castles per server, where you can move freely between regions. The most prominent parts of the map consist of lush forests and open farmlands with villages and caves/dungeons. We’re also working with some visual storytelling, and you will be able to discover hints on the map from the past when vampires ruled the world…”

The first ever Z-RACE in-game event will take place this Friday, June 4th. The in-game competition will see players compete over a 10-day period for the top 10 positions in the global leaderboards of a brand new track within the Silver City location: Champion's Track.

At 11:59pm PST, all leaderboard positions will be locked in, and the winners will be finalized. The grand prize will be $100, with second place getting $75, third place getting $50, and 4th through 10th places each getting $25. All prizes are in the form of Steam gift cards. Each racer can claim only one prize, but can attempt to top the leaderboards as many times as they want between the start and end of the event.

Be sure to hop in game this Friday to compete in the Silver City Circuit for a chance to win one of these great prizes!

MORE ABOUT THIS GAME:
Taekwondo Grand Prix - Mayamuppen
With most of the features in place we now need to start testing things out and move onto the polishing phase of the production. We’ve gotten the Steam Playtest approved but we haven't set the test live yet. Hopefully this will happen sometime next week and if you are interested in helping out you can request access from the main store page and you will get notified when the test is available. Ideally we would like to have 50 to 100 people testing the game so please help us out and share the news. Testers don’t need to pre own the game as the Playtest is treated as a separate game by Steam.

Please bare in mind that the current state of the game is beta, most of the features are in place, things need polish and proper balancing.

We hope to see you in the ring.
