Complex Gun Physics

New Narrative Lobby


As you know we are working on Story mode for Hard Bullet and the new lobby is much closer to the story we going to tell.

This lair of our pratogonist has several very important points of interest we'd like to talk.

New Armory Layout


Legendary weapons are grouped and we are working on new gun appearence. In the future updates we'll add more variations of how you can navigate and group firearms by types, style, ammo type etc.

Such system will allow us to bring new weapon packs and make more noticable updates for shooting side of Hard Bullet.

Level Selector


Trying to make is more user friendly and add more functionality. Right now only Sandbox, Baths and Action maps are avaliable.

Right now there is no Loading symbol, you just need to wait after you chose the Map. Just stay calm and wait a little, especially if the game is not on SSD. It's loading.

New WIP Sandbox


Everything is work-in-progress, we going to improve user experience with every update.

Different level presets.
We made a couple of presets to showcase a sandbox level as we see it.
To make it better and more fun for gamers and content makers we decided to include defferent location into one scene that you can controll.

Right now you can switch between different objects collections on-the-go, try different outfits on a special puppet (soon will be for all), try new guns we are working on.


Weapons and Melee collection


We are proud to present not only greately improved weapons and melee mechanics but also whole new world of guns, blades and blunts we are adding.

Climbing Mechanic


Now, when player has fully physical body, you can perform all kind of physics experiments!
You can climb obslacles even without pressing grab button — Just try it yourself!



Known Issues and Tips for better experience


This version is not polished and have some bugs, glitches and lack of some content from the main game. Here is a list of known issues and some tips.

Bugs and Issues we know about and working on:
  • Using VirtualDesktop? Check this thread to make it work.
  • Texts in Menu are not texts.
  • Only button-controlled magazine removal, no mag-hit-mag reloads or even hand reload. Only on button.
  • Guns are unbalanced, hands on the handles may not fit into poses correctly.
  • Hand pose may glitch and get unresponsive if enemy body disappeared when you were holding it — restart the scene from Pause Menu.
  • Streaming Camera may glitch on SteamVR devices and show 3D artefacts FIXED
  • Some guns may share same sounds.
  • No gun stealing from enemy holsters.
  • Enemies have issues with hand poses when holding guns. FIXED
  • Various sound glitches.
  • Objects in Lobby may glitch and have strange weights.
Mechanics from main Hard Bullet game that are not here yet:
  • No Dismemberment.
  • No Disctructible objects.
  • Basic enemy AI.
  • No two-handed grab for pistols.
  • Magazines are not physical.
  • No wall jumps.
  • No Music on arenas.
  • Lack of sounds in general.
  • No Break-action weapons.
  • No brutal machines exept Grinder and Loader.
  • No cuts, only piercing.
  • Baths and Action in blockout state, no Kowloon, no Office.
  • No Wave/Endless system.
  • No Custom Ammo and Toy Soldiers.
  • Lack of most options.
Tips & Hints for better experience in PhysicsBeta
If you're getting such hand glitch, probably your controllers are out of range. Get them first and then put on your VR helmet.


Check the settings on launch, you can select a different Grip function (stick guns or press grip constantly).


In the Graphics you can set blood effect to be more realistic and make blood puddles effect stay forever — that will increase your CPU calculations, so be carefull. You can turn them off anytime in the Settings during the game.


Well in Baths arena do not respawn player and do not kill bots who fall there. Use Pause Menu to respawn.

🔧How to switch to Beta

Importnat: after switching to beta it will wipe the current Steam version so you'll have to download it again if you want to get back to old experience.

  • Go to Steam and find Hard Bullet in there.
  • Click with your Right Mouse Button and select Propreties.
  • Go to Beta tab and in drop-down list select PhysicsBeta.
  • After this download of 6Gb will start.
  • Run game from Steam, no need for SteamVR if you use Oculus devices.
  • That's it! have fun!

If you want to go back to old version, just go to Beta tab in Properties and select None. it will initiate a download of old version.

The new Survarium Leagues Season has already started and will last until June 30! Participate in ranking battles to earn the tokens and obtain unique weapons and equipment!
If your ability to play Ranked is blocked, open the "League" tab (cup icon at the top right of the screen) and go back to the lobby or restart the client.
  • Your character needs to have tier 3 (or higher) equipment profile to participate.
    Players with tier 3, 4 and 5 equipment will be put in the same matches.
  • The matchmaking uses ELO rating to balance the teams.
  • Ranked matches are mostly played on RU and EU servers.
  • Squads, bots, killcam and hitmarkers are disabled in ranked matches.
  • The following locations and game modes are available in this season:
    *All locations use default variations.
    • Rudnya: Battery Retrieval, Research.
    • School: Team Deathmatch, Battery Retrieval, Research, Search and Destroy.
    • Vostok Radar Station: Team Deathmatch, Battery Retrieval, Research, Search and Destroy.
    • Chemical Plant: Battery Retrieval, Research.
    • Tarakanovsky Fort: Team Deathmatch, Battery Retrieval, Research.

Hello maidens! It's almost halfway through the year now. I hope that news doesn't bring you dread!

If you're the kind of person who would click into this announcement, you might be aware that the Maiden & Spell Discord has been doing a bit of a balance thingamajig.

That has now ended; thanks everyone for your feedback!
I think we've gotten the game to a place where it's pretty okay. There are still a few difficult matchups here and there, but characters got some desperately needed buffs and nerfs.

Also, thanks to a very generous member of the Discord (thank you Alec!), the game has been translated into Brazilian Portuguese.

First, patch notes! Then some other things.

-Attack lock 425ms > 550ms
-Takes an additional 75ms to gain a hitbox
-Added a visual effect to indicate direction of bullets




Basic Attack
-Unfocused bullet speed 12 > 10

Wide Attack
-Movespeed Mult x.85 > x.75
-Movespeed Mult duration 800ms > 1100ms
-Attacklock duration 700ms > 1000ms
-Time bullets are active 750ms > 650ms
-Range decreased

Stun Wave
-Stun time increased 1200ms > 1400ms




Basic Attack
-Spell lock decreased by 300ms (previously went from 700ms > 400ms based on charge, now goes from 400ms > 100ms)
-Angle now decreases from 90 > 4 (was previously 90 > 10)
-Movespeed Mult while casting .3 > .5

Knife Throw
-Focused move color adjusted
-Focus knives now fan at an angle of 9 degrees between each shot (36 total)




Basic Attack
-Hitbox linger time 600ms > 850ms
-Spawns 10% faster when focused

Wide Attack
-Attack lock reduced by 100ms (before it was 1000ms > 300ms based on charge, now it is 900ms > 200ms)
-Spell lock reduced by 100ms (same as attack lock)
-Time until hitbox is active is now a flat 500ms (up from 400ms-500ms based on charge)

Offensive Special
-Number of bullets on tap 24 > 28
-Attack lock reduced by 100ms (before it was 1000ms > 300ms based on charge, now it is 900ms > 200ms)
-Spell lock reduced by 100ms (same as attack lock)
-Cooldown reduced 5s > 4.5s
-Movespeed mult on tap increased 1.2x > 1.3x




Wide Attack
-Spawn delay increases 600ms > 700ms > 800ms with combo (was previously a flat 600ms)




Basic Attack
-Speed increased from 3.5 > 3.75
-Rate at which size increases matches speed increase




Time Stop
-Cast time reduced 550ms > 475ms




Basic Attack
-Bullet speed at maximum charge decreased 6.5 > 4.5

Wide Attack
-Order in which bullets appear has been reversed (shallower angle appears first now)

How have you all been spending your year so far?
I've been working hard on my next game.


...Uh, I know that I said I would be doing extra character costumes for Maiden & Spell in the past but, unfortunately, I'm not sure that's happening anymore. Maybe in the sequel (my next game is not a Maiden & Spell sequel).



If I'm being honest, I've not done a great job of managing my time and priorities this past year. It's caused me to fall behind on a lot of things, the care and maintenance of Maiden & Spell just being one of them.

It's been over a year since I launched Maiden & Spell, and after a number of game prototypes that I threw out, a personal break that went on a bit longer than it should have, and some Switch port troubles, I have only just semi-recently cobbled together a solid direction and plan for the next game.

It's a roguelike! Featuring cute girls. Cute rabbit-y girls. Also the gameplay is pretty unique, if I do say so myself.



I'm not quite ready to show the game to the world. I'll put out an official announcement a bit closer to when it's actually ready to play this time around. Maybe around 6-8 months out from launch or so!

If I've at all piqued your interest, consider joining either my mailing list or the Maiden & Spell Discord. You'll get a notification one way or another (and maybe a sneak preview or two...?). And the Maiden & Spell Discord is still the best place to find a great community and battle people online! In case you need something to pass the time.
