Recently I have been hoofing through Mass Effect Andromeda in my spare time. Like, properly hoofing - 10 hours at a time, like I'm back to being an adolescent with nothing to do except play video games and eat huge quantities of the short-lived early-noughties crisp spinoff Wotsits Wafflers. If anyone knows where I can source Wafflers, please get in touch.

Much like the Wafflers, Andromeda is probably not quite> as good as I remember, but I still don't think it's bad. And actually, looking at it with fresh eyes, there's a lot in there that shows how really nearly almost great it is. In fact, I think it would have been much improved with the addition of more trees.

The 500GB version of our favourite SSD, the WD Blue SN550, has dropped to just £47 over on Amazon UK this week. This beats its previous Amazon Prime Day price of £50 by a couple of quid, and is just £1 more than what it cost over Black Friday at the end of last year. As such, if you missed out on this great value NVMe drive back then, now's a great time to think about upgrading your PC's storage banks.

Call Of Duty: Warzone releases new character skins frequently. An endless stream of cool, colourful looks, but what do I see? (or don't I see, I suppose) Roze, everywhere. A black-clad skin that's difficult to see in dark areas of the map. But hopefully not for much longer, as it's finally being adjusted, alongside overpowered guns including the FFAR, Sykov, and more.

Amazon's beleaguered video games division have cancelled another project, this time their MMO based on The Lord Of The Rings. They announced it in 2019 as a collaboration as a Chinese company Leyou, who were then bought by Tencent last year - which apparently caused problems. Now the game is off, and the team are being moved to other projects.

Diddy 13in laptops are all well and good for taking on the road, but their compact shape and super svelte innards rarely leave much room for powerful gaming components. Indeed, the best graphics chip you'll often find on 'gaming' laptops like these is the humble Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, as we saw on Razer's Blade Stealth 13 at the end of last year. It's the Max-Q version of this entry-level graphics chip that sits at the heart of the new Asus ROG Flow X13 as well, providing a decent 1080p gaming experience as long as you're prepared to make do with playing at Low to Medium quality settings. On the Blade Stealth 13, it was a decent trade-off considering the laptop's tiny form factor. The Asus ROG Flow X13, however, has a rather nifty secret weapon that turns this pint-sized gaming laptop into an RTX 3080 powerhouse. Enter the Asus ROG XG Mobile eGPU.

Videogame movies have tried ignoring their source material, and they've tried legitimising their source material via being as dour as possible, but it's rare that they've just embraced the inherent absurdity of videogames. Enter: the Dynasty Warriors movie, which looks joyfully like the Dynasty Warriors games.

RPS fell hard for Devil Daggers, naming it our game of the year back when, but one of the most common criticisms from the "not for me" crowd was that it lacks a sense of progress.

Try Boomberang X, then. It's a first-person arena shooter with escalating waves of greebly enemies and a focus on a single weapon, but you unlock new abilities and move to new areas in between fights. There's a demo available now.

When done poorly, swinging your arms in a videogame feels like nothing at all. Fists phase through opponents, swords smack like dull sticks, and it's all a little too much like making a health points withdrawl at the NPC ATM.

Thankfully there are lots of games which do it wonderfully - so, which game does it best?
