OK, now on to the devlog!
Meowllo! Itās starting to warm up here and all the flowers are starting to bloom. The same goes for Snacko! This month weāve had some progress on the overall game, as well as some new assets for the first area thatās furever spring: the Grassy Plains šæ
š® Learning the ropes
We finally got the first little bite size chunk of Snacko playable in its (almost) final form! That means an opening cutscene, introducing the island, and some tutorial bits! It feels great to finally see the pieces and parts come together into a video game. Sometimes, it can be easy to forget that this is a real videogame.
Obviously, we canāt show any of that here. That would ruin the fun! Youāll just have to wait until release. Nobu Jr. couldnāt have said it better.
This came with a bunch of things like bug fixes, quality of life improvements, and little tweaks to mechanics. Those took up the big majority of our time this month! At least we squashed a ton!
We also remade some older assets that suddenly popped up in the cutscenes. The old lantern was not chunky enough. It was also one of the first assets Iāve made for Snacko. Look how many polygons there are š
š„ Cutscene work
Working on cutscenes in Unreal is kind of like having a little camera with you in the game world and setting places for it go to. In the intro cutscene, thereās a nice little fly-over of the farm, and the camera in that instance is controlled like this:
Er, donāt mind the flat cows and chicken. Of course, the actual stuff that happens in the cutscene takes a bit more work. Depending on how many things have to happen, and whether or not youāre just chatting or if someone has to give you items, it can range from being pretty simple to āohh noā.
Theyāre still done over top of a code system thatās exposed to the engineās native visual scripting, meaning itās easy for anyone to poke their head in and look at the cutscene actions to figure out whatās going on. Thatās super cool, right?
š³ New foliage friends
The furever spring of Grassy Plainsā¦The Plains has undergone some changes. Itās a bit more hilly with some cliffs framing the sides, and it also has new trees and flowers!
We wanted the Plains to feel distinctly different from the town and farm, as we want every other biome to also feel special. So, instead of using the usual round trees and evergreens, we now have these cool birch trees and a fluffy cypress.
Sunflowers and little mushrooms will also dot the land and bring some extra color to it š» Thatās all for this month! We hope everyone has an ameowzing April filled with better weather š¾
- The Leather Vest was removed as a reward from the Slime Trouble Side Quest. This item is only a reward from the Old Treasure Side Quest. - Minor bugs and misspelling have been fixed;

We 'ave the big sneak peek ye 'ave been waitin' fer! Aye, the CURSED CAPTAIN be comin' in the next content update - a new mid-range class that packs a lot o' punch through large cannons 'n powerful ghostly summons.
We've prepared this shanty fer ye in the hopes that it shivers yer timbers while the update be undergoin' its final testin' stages. Ā

NEW CURSED CAPTAIN CLASS REVEALED!
A new class is indeed coming to Torchlight III with the next large (free) content update! Anchored in a state between life and death, the Cursed Captain remains true to its adventurous spirit.
As an experienced captain of the seas, this corporeal spectre can summon a ghostly crew of swashbucklers, and use the tools of the piracy trade to tackle combatants. The Cursed Captain utilizes their own unique resource, Doubloons, which are collected mid-combat from monsters and treasures.
The New Cursed Captain Class will come alongside the free update to Torchlight III this Spring!
In addition to the Cursed Captainās new class-specific weapon (the cannon), its attire also includes a new class-specific armor type - capes.
āThe Captain fully realizes an archetype of class not yet fulfilled - the Summoner. While some of the other classes do have the capacity to summon minions, the Captain is the first to dive deep into that mechanic. Cannoneers, Riflemen, standard Crewmates, and your First Mate all can join you in combat, should you include them in your build. As the captain of this crew, you have the power to command them! You can order the crew to relocate, perform extra skills on demand, or focus fire on a specific target using the Black Spot debuff.
If leading a crew of undead seafarers is not to your liking, the Cursed Captain is also a powerhouse on their own, packing a wide array of cursed magic and explosive skills. Instead of paying Doubloons to your Crew, load them up into your trusty cannon and fire them with the Plunderbuss skill, or order your flagship to fire a deadly broadside onto your foes from afar... or, simply bring the flagship directly into the fight. Yes, I do mean the ENTIRE ship.ā
The Cursed Captain will set sail alongside many other updates, content, bug fixes, and performance improvements.
ADDITIONAL CONTENT & QUALITY OF LIFE UPDATES COMINGā¦
An abundance of adorable pets are making their way to the frontier. From the āSamurai Shiba Inuā to the ferocious āFire Foxā, the frontierās collection of pets will grow with new, additional quality of life updates in tow.
FOUR NEW Species with over FOURTY NEW pets and pet variants!
Improvements to the Pet UI, including the ability to better manage, delete, and sort your pets.
More pet slots!
Resolved the bug that prevents pets from joining their owners while adventuring.
These six furry friends are only a fraction of the latest pets to join the frontier.
There are also an assortment of other content and quality of life updates that will also be coming alongside this āCursed Captainā update, including an entirely new āFur & Fashionā contract with all new dyes, fort props, and pets.
A few new fort decorations found in the upcoming Fur & Fashion contract.
An instance reset feature is coming to Torchlight III. Players will now be able to reset any instance from any shared area (towns/forts) in order to restart all of the worldās instances. Now you can continue to farm in a particular area of the world without having to leave the entire game or wear out the instance reset timer.
The instance reset option is available via the map menu.
In addition to the new āInstance Resetā feature, players will be able to entirely reset their Multiplayer or Singleplayer accounts in order to restart their game from scratch as an entirely fresh, new experience.
Weāve also been hard at work to resolve many bugs (including that problematic, lingering Humble Quest log) and performance issues and believe we have made some great strides on both fronts.
Weāll have more details, including a full run-down of the Cursed Captain class in our next update, but until then, we hope this wets your appetite for the upcoming content patch.

The Galactic Council is on the air! We are informing you of a major update this month. This time we have improved the training hints system, introduced a new ship for the BASTION corporation, improved the weapon system and added new mechanics. Here is a list of some of the innovations and changes:
- Added: New ship! Bastion Space Fighter "Wolf". The ship has 3 slots for modules. Additional modules can be purchased separately; - Added: display of supported equipment classes for weapon slots; - Added: limiting the class of weapons on ships; - Added description of all weapon slots for ships and modules upon purchase; - Added: generator energy redistribution mechanics; - Added: automatic free ship insurance when buying / receiving a starter ship; - Added: switching the inertia stabilization mode to the C key; - Added: information about the volume of cargo in contracts for the transportation and extraction of resources; - Added: a hint about the sector in which the factory for the transportation of goods is located;
- Improved: modules from ships can now increase the ship's durability and hold capacity; - Improved: the weight of the resource "Microcircuits" is reduced by 2 times - Improved: training sector; - Improved: tips at the beginning of the game during training; - Improved: physics of rotation and flight of the ship;
- Fixed: display of the players' mark in the squad, as well as the marks of pirates in the "sector defense" contract; - Fixed: picking up containers on the Uranus ship
There is no more equipment of the "Engine" type - this type has been renamed to "Generator" and has new properties. Now the energy of the generator is spent on: regenerating shields, firing cannons, maneuvering. You can distribute the generator energy as you wish
A0.91 Changes - Orb Modules can now be unlocked, allowing them to drop from chests. - Orb Modules can be installed in Shadwell Orbs, giving them defensive abilities. - All doors can now be destroyed by creatures. - Weather has been implemented. - (Coop) Addition of HUD character portraits, with health bars. - Portal system in Shadwell has been re-worked. Player travel status is now visible, and players can now vote for the next map. - Loot caches will now be restocked every day. - Addition of 'Connecting to Game' prompt when attempting to connect to a game. - HUD Perk notifications have been changed to a minimal set up. - By request of tester Terrahawk - Damage number can now be toggled on/off in options menu. - Level 1 Perks can now be seen at level 0 (from the game start). - Account level and progression can now be seen from the main menu. - Players now have a HUD marker to direct them towards the beacon. - Improvement to all Necronomicon images.
Bug Fixes: - Black screen when first loading DoP has been replaced with a loading screen. - Can no longer access inventory or perk window when in loading screen. - Creatures were not spawning from curse altars in specific maps. (fixed) - 'Use on pickup' items could not be picked up with a full backpack. (fixed) - Assigning a key already in use will notify the player 'key already in use'. - Key drops were limited to 1 per container. (fixed) - Location verification for all Loot cache, teleportation orb, curse altar, rupture crystals in all levels. - All levels have had āfloating objectsā fixed. - Zombies spawned by Zombie Slavers will now chase the player.
Known Bugs: - Zombies will sometimes continue to attack destroyed doors. - Hounds are causing an FPS drop/stutter. - HUD marker for location of downed teammate is not properly positioned. - Loading screen Fobber is appearing as a grey image.
