Hello everybody,

Another week has passed and our work has moved another step forward. The Collector AAA vehicle, 25-mm automatic gun installed on the chassis of the GAZ-MM truck will be finished soon - the physical model of the truck is ready, as are the automatic gun animations and functioning, all animations of the chassis and the crew as well as gun ballistics and damage model are also done. The correction system for the gunsight that turned out to be incredibly complex kinematically is in. The unique audio and more detailed tech of the tires visualization and deformation are icing on the cake. All these elements have something new and are believed to be interesting for the end-user to familiarize with and learn something new. At the moment we're improving the visual look of the new vehicle, the texturing of the gun, and apply the new DVD tech we talked about in our previous Dev Blog to make the result the best.




Meanwhile, a part of our mapping department works on improving the railyards on the Rhineland map (Bodenplatte project). They aren't the most striking or shiny detail of the numerous cities on this map, but they do improve the overall visual look of the scene and make the landscape more realistic. This time we can show you the screenshots of the railroad structures in the cities of Cologne, Brussels, Bonn, Duisburg, Liege, Mainz, Frankfurt am Mein.

Patch Details:

Today's patch provides the long-awaited redesign for the Technomancer class. The male Technomancer is summoning focused while the female is more defensive and focused on providing mobile energy shields and terrain buffs. In addition, the update includes improvements to the HUD, some bug fixes and balance adjustments for the final campaign missions. It also includes a proper campaign ending scene. Assuming that no major bugs or issues are identified, this version should be close to the final, proper launch version and should mark the closing of the early access period.

New Additions:
  • Added the Plasma Bot as a new summoned unit for the male Technomancer. This unit is a mobile gun drone that has various experimental weapons and will explode if destroyed.
  • The team summary in the UI now displays icons for units that have been summoned during battle and those for controllable allies. This allows players to see their stats at a glance and select them more easily from the HUD just as they can for team members.
  • Added a new and more detailed skymap for campaign missions 30 to 40.
  • Reduced the size of the mission briefing screen at the start of a mission.

Bug Fixes:
  • The cryo shot and heavy beam abilities now work correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where hovering over a tile would not show which enemy units are in attack range from that position correctly.
  • Fixed a bug where player character's attack ranges were being reduced by 1 incorrectly.
  • The character's stat sheet now correctly displays remaining counter attacks, life and action points rather than the values at the start of a battle.
  • Several minor bugs fixed.
  • The Instill Fear ability now correctly reduces morale.

Balance Changes:
  • Changed the abilities of the male and female Technomancer to be more useful and in-theme. The male is now focused on summoning robotic allies into combat while the female is focused on setting up strong defensive positions with portable shields and turrets.
  • Increased range of cryo shot ability.
  • Increased movement range of Veteran Vanguard.
  • The "Long Range Mastery" passive ability has been changed to be useful for Devastators since they already automatically hit with their ranged attacks.
  • Increased ranged damage of Tesla Trooper classes by 5 points.
  • Increased movement range of the Suppressor class.

Hello, dreamers!

Today’s update works out some kinks regarding the new battle HUD and improves the interface of additional aspects of the game in the facility upgrading system and roulette minigame. To top it off, we increase the difficulty of the early game just a little bit to make it more exciting!

Changes and bug fixes can be found below:

Casino
  • Greatly improved user experience of the roulette minigame
Items
  • Replaced icons used for empty socket piece slots
Characters
  • Facility upgrades are henceforth conducted via Alexandra in the communications room
    -The ability to upgrade facilities is unlocked after finishing the first round of excavations after the update
    -Removed the old upgrade NPC
Classes
General
  • Decreased natural hit rate of all classes
    -Before: 95%
    -After: 90%
  • Increased natural crit rate of all classes
    -Before: 4%
    -After: 5%
Hunter
  • Aim Mode’s hit rate boost has been decreased as it previously increased the hit rate beyond 100%

Empires of the Undergrowth - Mike
We're likely to run this beta just overnight and get it out onto the main branch some time tomorrow, as long as no huge problems are discovered! Whilst it doesn't have much in the way of new features, v0.23 is a significant patch because we've upgraded the engine that Empires of the Undergrowth runs on (Unreal Engine 4), and we've spent a significant amount of time fixing problems that arise from that.

So, just to reiterate - no major new features since the last optional beta, but there have been plenty of changes going on under the hood. This beta is available on all platforms. It will also remove the four extra levels, with the first of them (Occupation) being due for full release on April 2nd.

If you'd like to join the beta just for the evening, the beta key is givemeextraextra. If you don't know how to join a beta, here's how to do it:

  1. Find Empires of the Undergrowth in your Steam library, right-click on it and choose "Properties"
  2. Choose the "Betas" tab
  3. In the box titled "Enter beta access code to unlock private betas", enter givemeextraextra
  4. After the "Access code correct" information appears, make sure you've chosen "Open beta" from the "Select the beta you would like to opt into" drop-down menu
  5. Press close - the game will now update to the beta branch

Hello everyone,

we're excited to deliver you the biggest update to date – Nuclear update! This update marks a much higher quality standard for our game and sets us up to be able to focus more on content updates going forward.



With the Nuclear update, we revamped the whole UI/Design of the game to bring you a much more modern and sleek experience, and resolve several problems the game had with teaching the players about its deep mechanics. We also resolved a ton of bugs, display issues/inconveniences, as well as added several new quality of life options, and settings to customize your experience a bit.


To sum up what’s new with the Nuclear update:
- Completely revamped UI and graphics of the game, for a more modern and cohesive look: Menu, UI, Research, Combat, World, and Popups all now have a completely fresh look!





- New Ambiental music added, created by Jan Aleš Mlinar (Nomon Atur)
- New UI vastly improved player feedback of what is changing/not working etc. that makes it much easier for the user to react
- Added Clear All options to build and produce queues
- Vastly improved player onboarding and guiding
- Added a Game Guide (a small wiki)
- Added ability to name your saves by double-clicking on them
- Added x100 buy/Assign options directly to the QoL settings popup
- New settings for disabling sound groups, battle popups, disabling save plan warning popup, displaying real-time instead of game-time
- New Hotkeys for switching between views quickly added to settings
- Added reset all settings & hotkeys options
- Improved notification system to be far less obtrusive, and also any notifications with a “+” next to them, will show you actual useful information now
- Resource group collapsing works in a more natural/useful way now
- Improved performance and fixed several memory leaks
- Improved scaling of UI for smaller screen
- Improved starting story scene

!FRESH: Nuclear Update Trailer!



With this massive update, we’ve also updated the official game’s Trailer, which should better present the current version of the game and help us spread the word about the game better. As we are a small team working hard on the project, any additional exposure means a ton to us, and with the help of a fresh trailer, we can surely better present the game now.

Like already mentioned in our previous posts, we also changed the price of the game now, and this will probably be the last and final price increase of the game.
