Ubisoft have kicked off their Spring sale today, with discounts of up to 80% up for grabs across a huge range of titles. Running until April 9th, there are some rather tasty discounts to be had on some of Ubisoft's newest games this time round as well, including 50% off Watch Dogs Legion and Immortals Fenyx Rising, and a decent 25% off various editions of Assassin's Creed Valhalla (just in time for the launch of its Ostara Easter festival and upcoming first expansion).

Loop Hero is an auto-battler, which means it plays itself, leaving your hands free to stroke a dog or learn the ukulele. Press "go" and your hero will scuttle off like a locomotive on a train set, encountering monsters, slaughtering them in quick, uninteractive battle scenes, collecting the loot and cards they drop and then continuing on their fated way.

Round and round they go, trapped but resolute, like a greyhound on a malfunctioning racetrack, where someone forgot to turn off the hare and the crowds have long since gone home. Your hero will do this for as long as you let them, or until they die, because with each completed loop the monsters become incrementally tougher.

I've started a co-op playthrough of Divinity Original Sin 2, an RPG that feels like learning another language. Slowly, I've grown accustomed to the sheer volume of stats and abilities and decisions I have to make. I now approach situations methodically, identifying enemy weaknesses, and scanning rooms ablaze or bloated by gas, before I commit to an act.

But there's one thing that always gets me. No matter how careful I am, icy surfaces totally pass me by. It's as if they're invisible, the way I think I've clocked every variable, before my dwarf rogue moves two paces and tumbles onto his arse. I don't mind, though, as it's comedy gold; an act so funny I'm convinced there's actually nothing funnier.

Paradox Interactive dropped patch 1.3 for Crusader Kings 3 this week, alongside a new Viking-themed DLC. However, it's not all good news, because the update has also stopped players from being able to mod in same-sex relationships into the medieval strategy game. Some fans are concerned about the reasons for this change, but Paradox tell us they didn't intend on deliberately barring same-sex relationships.

I've always kept my eyes trained on TheHunter: Call Of The Wild. It seems like a hunting sim I'd enjoy, less so for quick-scoping deer, and more for going on lovely hikes in lush forests. And I may finally pull the trigger, as there's a DLC on the way that adds bloodhound companions.

We love a good mechanical keyboard here at RPS, but until recently our desire for non-stop clicky clacking has only been sated by full-blown desktop keyboards. There have been a handful of gaming laptops released over the last few years that have come with varying degrees of mechanical keyboard, but most haven't held a clacky candle to their desktop counterparts. Happily, Alienware have just announced the world's first gaming laptops designed in collaboration with renowned switch maker Cherry, bringing a new ultra low profile switch to their refreshed Alienware m15 R4 and m17 R4 laptops for 2021.

I groaned inwardly when I heard the first insipid joke escape the mouth of Zeus, King of the Gods, during the intro sequence of Immortals Fenyx Rising. It was very much a sign of things to come. I can't objectively fault the writing - it's just really not my kind of humour. Far too childish and on-the-nose for me. And I don't know about you, but it takes a special game for me to forgive a godawful sense of humour.

Good thing, then, that Immortals Fenyx Rising is indeed a special game. In fact, it's a strong contender for the best game of 2020 in my book.
