We present to you a new type of aircraft in War Thunder - an aircraft with variable sweep wings! We are going to discuss the first such aircraft today, the Soviet Su-17M2 jet fighter-bomber that is going to appear in the game with the release of the next major update “Ixwa Strike”.
So, let’s meet an aircraft with variable swept-wings in War Thunder. This is a fairly popular technical solution in combat aircraft with a high take-off weight, which should have good performance characteristics both at subsonic and at supersonic speeds. The first such aircraft in our game is the Soviet Su-17M2 fighter-bomber, the successor to one of the best attack aircraft in the game, the Su-7BKL. The maximum take-off weight of this aircraft exceeds 18 tons, so the sweep-wing is almost the only solution that allows you to achieve the take-off and landing characteristics necessary for this combat aircraft. Only the end sections of the wings are moveable here, while the root area stays fixed. Thus, the increased wing area and additional flaps on the swinging surfaces facilitate takeoff and landing, and also give better controllability at subsonic speeds. After reaching sonic speed, the moveable parts of the wing surfaces are moved back, contributing to the ability to gain and maintain high speeds.
The Su-17M2 opens a new page in War Thunder's combat aviation! Stay tuned for the next big update “Ixwa Strike” to find out what else is coming soon!
The South African Reconnaissance Car (SARC) commonly known in Commonwealth service as the Marmon-Herrington were a series of armoured cars developed in South Africa during WWII and widely used by many nations even after the war. Soon, tankers in War Thunder will have the chance to command one of the later variants as it arrives in the British ground forces tree as part of the new South African subtree with the next major update!
In War Thunder, the SARC Mk.VI will be a new armoured car joining the lower ranks of the British ground forces tree as part of the upcoming South African subtree arriving to the game with the release of the next major update. The SARC Mk.VI combines excellent mobility and firepower being a well-rounded vehicle soon to be favored by both veteran and novice tankers alike!
The SARC Mk.VI will soon arrive to the lower ranks of the British ground forces tree and will be one of the first vehicles tankers will have the chance to unlock in the upcoming South African subtree, coming to the game with the next major update “Ixwa Strike”. Until then, happy hunting tankers!
- Added full crew skill and bonuses support to Fleet Ships. The Commander, however, still only affects piloting skills and main weapons accuracy, and he/she is still the only one who gains XP right now. - Order Fire and Hold Fire actions on your fleet will now last for at least 5 seconds and will override other previous actions. - Fixed Fleet Ships altering crew and weapon slot positions. - Fixed turrets with repair beams hitting it's own ship - Fixed station delay before attacking enemy faction ships

Do you have what it takes to ace the chilly test that awaits you? Wizards level 10 and above can showcase their spell-slinging skills as they claw their way to the top of the Ice Deckathalon Tower. With no bonuses from your gear, level, or the ability to use regular trained spells, it’ll just be up to you, your treasure cards, and a well-crafted strategy to fight your way through 30 floors of icy enemies. Those who manage to reach the top will be challenged by Professor Greyrose herself!
Each Wizard will gain three entries into the Ice Deckathalon per day. Upon entry, you’ll be able to climb the tower as high as you can until you’re defeated or run out of treasure cards. Once you run out of entries, you’ll need to wait for the next day to claim more.
As you battle to the top of the tower, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase crafting recipes that may help you on your journey to becoming a top Deckathlete. After all, only the most dedicated Wizards will rise to the top of the leaderboard! High ranking Deckathletes will earn prizes for their achievements, and the best of the best will even see their friends rewarded as well—pending their participation in that event, of course.
Defeating monsters in the Deckathalon and using treasure cards in battle will contribute points to your individual progress bar. Accumulating enough points can reap great rewards such as the all-powerful Hands of Fate weapon and cute Ice Class Pet!
