With Missions (released 2 hours ago), I introduced a nasty bug. If you had issues loading your game or if your city was going crashing to everything zero, update and it will be solved. Uops!

This is version 0.9.66, with a couple of small changes to fix bugs.

Valve changed the behavior of SteamVR which would then hang SteamVR whenever launched by anything other than manually. We managed to find a workaround to avoid the hangs.

Controller manifests would occasionally be missing for users, and we've updated the way these are found.


If you run into any problems, you can revert to the prior default of 0.9.64, but please let us know of any problems you see.

So,
I did promise pushing out updates every Sunday, however I will most likely not do this the coming month or two months as I won't be adding any features or such for a while.
The game engine needs to be tuned up a bit so I can more easily continue working with it. It has become too easy to get new bugs and too hard to test.
Therefore there will be a lot of fixes and such in the background which will in the end improve game experience (because of fewer bugs) and allow me to more quickly churn out more stuff. More interesting stuff.
I hope this is ok, but if you have some feature or bugfix you would like to see just send a message :)

SEX & GUN VR - Version Beta 2.2

Hi Everyone !
Here's is an update of the VR Beta version ! Weapons, AI, Menu & First level reboot added !

Garçon, le Menu !
I added a Main Menu, hope you’ll like it. You can select the sex house, or the story because yes, I added the first level ! hopefully well optimized and I hope to hear some good return regarding loading time and fps… hope I’m on the good track
There are also graphic settings, but I haven’t added yet a sound & gameplay option (to choose left handed/ blood visibility/difficulty…)



Weapon added back !
In the garage of the sex house you will see a button called “Weapon Training” pressing it will spawn weapons, but will hide the woman pad and destroy the actual woman. Pressing it back will bring back the pad and remove the weapons !
I didn’t want to risk having both at the same time since the woman at this stage is a little bit heavy in performance since she is in a “customizable mode” if that makes sense to you !


  • It will make weapons appear : (3 SMG, 1 Rifle, 1 Pistol, 1 Axe, 1 Shield) More will be added !
  • Weapons have recoil, you need to grip them with 2 hands to cancel it.
  • Hands animation on weapons added (some of them need adjustments)
  • Shield can block bullets !
  • The pistol on the table has unlimited bullet
  • Bullets can sometimes detach head, hands, arms, legs… have fun shooting there, the enemy makes some animations if they lose their hand or head ! I haven’t yet made them crawl on the floor but this will be added :P

“Home Invasion”

  • Button spawns some waves of mobs that want to kick your ass ! It’s a very simplistic thing, just to have fun and test the weapons !

Wait, and what about the Sex ?!

  • Added a “text” that you can type and tattoo it on the woman, not yet final, just some tests ! and fix some little UI bug.
  • One New cloth, Police officer but it doesn’t work yet with morphs, it was for the boss' first scene early stages, but have a look ! :)
  • Nothing really more added yet, it will be for the next update!



What to expect about the first level remake ?

The first level should have way better looking & performance than the release version, if not please shoot me a message on discord ! You can see the AI, she isn’t perfect yet, she has just a “patrol” mode compared to before, they also bleed a lot more :P

You’ll be playing in a “normal” mode, we’ll be able to edit later when we select a new game in the menu, for now I haven’t added that option.

There is a new woman enemy, hope you wont feel too bad killing her, should I bring more sexy woman as enemy or should it be more "male"? Let me know your thoughts !

Climb the ladder after killing the enemies, you’ll see the scene of the boss, where she is actually ‘talking’ . What you will hear is an AI generated voice, as a placeholder, I will replace this with a real voice actor of course ! :) You’ll see her lips moving as well, it's still experimental. I will improve that, but it’s not bad ! What do you think?

You’ll be transported to the Office next, but nothing happens there YET, since the next update will be dedicated on that specific level, for the sex “Gameplay” rework Stay TUNNED!

If you want to leave back to the menu, on your left hand there is a circle, you can touch it and it will bring a menu that offers you to go back.

Hope you'll all enjoy and wont encounter any issues ! I mainly tested it with the INDEX, please notify me if you have any control problems !

We will start with the answers to the FAQ.

q1. Is it based on the movie "Thing"?
a1. No, it is not. The game is inspired by movies and the book "Who goes there?" by John W. Campbell.

q2. What engine are you using?
a2. We are using Unity.

q3. Is this game out yet?
a3. When we released the trailer, we were halfway to go. It may sound great, but we were doing it in our spare time, so the quality wasn't great. Now we have a publisher and more time and possibilities, so we must rework almost everything to make Buried in Ice a good game.



Now let's proceed to a summary of the interview we were part of on the NoLifeBoys stream. Some of the questions were answered in the FAQ.

q1. Which horror movie is your favourite?
a1. I don't have a single one. My favourites are "Alien", "Aliens", "Alien 3" and "Thing" 1982.

q2. Why did you choose "Thing" as inspiration?
a2. Because it's a great movie and there aren't many games with that kind of theme, or at least I don't know them.

q3. Graphics or story? Which is more important?
a3. There is no easy answer. Why? Because graphics can greatly improve immersion. Without a good story, immersion will not exist at all, at least for me.

q4. How long it takes to make a game?
a4. It highly depends on how much money you have. Basically, more money means more time (not always). More time means less cut content/more implemented ideas. It also means the game can be more polished.

q5. What player have to do to survive?
a5. It's pretty cold in Antarctica. You better wear your clothes. What more? Do not hug the enemy.

q6. How many hours will it take to finish the game?
a6. I can't answer that.

Melvor Idle - Malcs
Hello!

Firstly, I'd just like to thank each and every single one of you for your continued support throughout the development of the game. Even though it is relatively new to Steam, I have been working on this since September 2019.

Now that Melvor Idle is my official full-time commitment, I intend to provide that same commitment back to the game as we gear up towards full release.

So, what's coming?

Alpha v0.19 is a large one, as it is introducing the first new Skill into the game since May 2020.

For those unaware, many existing skills (Melee, Ranged, Magic, Slayer) and systems (Mastery, Bank) in the game were the focus of reworks throughout the last year.

Now, with those out of the way, it was time to finally introduce the first of four planned Skills into the game - Agility

Agility is a very unique Skill, as you are tasked with constructing your very own Agility Obstacle Course that provides unique benefits, as well as debuffs, to your character to assist in other areas of the game.

There is 43 different Obstacles to choose from, but you can only have 10 active at any given time, creating an environment where you must make a strategic decision to enhance your character in the best possible way.

Agility also has a unique method of training that will require planning to execute efficiently (Or just wing it, up to you).

Alongside the new Skill, we also welcome our third and final Official Gamemode - Adventure Mode

This new Gamemode turns the game upside down, where Skills are locked behind a GP cost before you are able to use them. This GP cost increased with every purchase, forcing you to plan out your journey with care, weighing up the costs with the benefits that Skill will actually provide.

On top of this, the only Skills unlocked at the start of the game are Attack, Strength, Defence and Hitpoints.

Another unique part about Adventure Mode is that your Non-Combat Skill levels cannot go above your current Combat Level. This means you are required to level up your Combat Skills, which in turn increases your Combat Level to allow your Non-Combat Skill to increase higher in levels.

There's a few more little neat additions to Adventure Mode, but you will find out about those on release :)

Anything else?

Well, yes - Boss Pets!

If you are not on the Melvor Idle Subreddit then you may have missed these cute little critters being posted over the last 3 weeks.

Every dungeon in the game is getting their own custom Boss Pet attached, that has a chance to drop upon killing the Dungeon Boss. These Boss Pets provide a small bonus to Combat to assist in your journey.

Be sure to check out the Subreddit to see what Pets have already been posted!

Golbin Raid - Stage 2

It's been a minute, but I can happily confirm that Golbin Raid Stage 2 will be released, steamrolling through with countless additions, balances and fun little mechanics to spice up the Minigame.

The Raid Shop will be active allowing you to purchase unique upgrades to your character to help in the Raid, as well as new weapon mechanics you will come across throughout your selection processes.

I won't go into too much detail about this yet, but if you're a fun of the concept of the Golbin Raid, then you will surely enjoy this :)

Alright, so when can we expect this update?

Well... this week!

If you are not in the Melvor Idle Discord Server, I suggest you join it NOW!

I am in there every day communicating with the community and posting regular updates on the progress of the next Major Updates coming to the game. I also provide an insight into development so you know what I'm working on, and why some things may be taking longer than expected.

The Discord Server also mentions what's coming in the next Major Updates, so Alpha v0.19's features were confirmed back in early January :)

Alpha v0.19 is currently available to be played by Patreon supporters, which is a great indication that the update is very close to being released to the public!

Right now, the goal is to iron out all the reported bugs, balance new content and ensure the update is going to be fantastic for everyone!

Thank you so much for your support over the last year. This journey has been incredible, and in all honesty we're only just getting started!

Thank you for your patience with this next Major Update. I decided to add a lot of content into it to make up for the wait.
