Malus - Anomaly
Hey all

Im sorry I havent been posting much updates recently but I assure you, my lack of communication is due to me working hard on the game.

Rather than spending time, effort and money on publicising and marketing the game, like what many other indie companies do, I would very much rather spend that time actually working on the game, some indie companies settle with making development vlogs as a way to market their game and build hype which will then generate revenue that would go into developing the game. In my opinion, all this are just things that would get in the way of actual development, because when I get home every day, I only have a few hours left in the day to be productive, please keep in mind that Malus is for the most part a solo development, and while I would very much like to have a team working on malus, hiring people means that I have to pay them.

Recently I discovered an early access indie game on steam that was recently fully released called "Kenshi" and I learned that the developer of this game, Chris Hunt, worked on Kenshi solo for 6 years, and only after that 6 years was he able to get a small team together, and then continued to work on his game for another 6 more years, which is a total of 12 years of development. Now Im not saying that its going to take 12 years to release Malus, but just keep in mind that Malus is still quite early

If you are eagerly waiting for an update because you're bored and want an RPG game to play, please check out Kenshi, I tried it for a few hours recently and its actually a really cool RPG, (though its not an ActionRPG) i think for anyone who are into non-hand holdy, old school type of games would really enjoy it, it has some really interesting mechanics that make it unique, from what I understand, theres not like a main story or anything, however, its a sandbox RPG, things will just happen, bandits will attack you and when they run out of food, they will steal your food, and you if you get hit unconcious, some NPC may enslave you and then you gota find a way to escape, its all real cool. This isnt a paid promotion, i just think its a cool game. Its around $20 USD i believe, IMO, well worth the price, I just feel bad for the people waiting for updates on Malus and Im just suggesting an alternative for the time being.

The Dark Method - Analog Joker LLC
Based on community feedback, The Dark Method now features locomotion, snap turn, and an improved inventory system. Also on top of these highlighted improvements, other miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements have been made to the game. Enjoy!

Hi all,

Today we've released an update of the game, which ties in with our upcoming Kickstarter campaign, which will go live on April 20th, 2021. A successful Kickstarter campaign will allow us to speed up development towards an Early Access release. We'll have several rewards, and all reward tiers include having your name engraved in the Cavern of Names. You can already subscribe for a notification:



We've made the following changes to the game:
  • Updated the shrine: the previous hermit has been buried. A new follower of the prophecy has taken residence in the shrine. A tree shall start growing in real time as of April 20th, as our Kickstarter progresses.
  • Fixed bug which appeared when playing at 0 in-game sound volume
  • Fixed bug which occured when re-assigning attack and/or jump buttons

Besides our preparations we're working on the full game. We're adding content and fine-tuning systems. Here's a little snip of gameplay:

Call to Arms - Gates of Hell: Ostfront - Culee

Hi everyone, hereā€™s a short message to explain how we plan to do the open beta. As we promised, it would begin in March, and in fact it is beginning a few days sooner!

The open beta, is in fact not the full DLC but a time limited playtest that allows everyone to get a first impression of Call to Arms: Gates of Hell. We plan to run it for several short periods. We invited the entire community, many responded; itā€™s great to see this level of enthusiasm! We will let as many players as possible in and we want to split the playtest into several phases.

We will commence phase 1 with a single-player test , containing the first 2 single player missions from both campaigns. We will release one this weekend and one later next week. The tutorial is also included, for the new players. The game will be open to all our subscribers until the phase ends next week.

Future phases will include other areas of CtA: GoH to give you a taste of our project and allow you to give us your feedback. Your subscription to the beta is valid for all the phases and no further action is required . If you havenā€™t subscribed, now is a good time! Subscriptions will remain open. You will receive a notification that the beta is available to you, so keep an eye on your inbox.



After the playtest phases, we will prepare the full release, which contains all the content, dozens of maps and the mighty editor. The full release will be available in the languages indicated in our store page, but the playtests will be in english only. We will be translating all texts before release.

Remember you can only play the open beta test if you own a paid edition of Call to Arms, as announced earlier. Also, remember you donā€™t need to install CtA, ownership is sufficient. A CtA sale will commence today at 19:00 GMT+1, lasting a week, to help anyone who would not yet own the game.

If you own a free version of CtA, this will cause problems launching the game, you will need to acquire the basic edition. We have opened threads in 4 languages to guide you in this process or help with troubleshooting in our forums.

Our project has been in development for over 5 years and we are proud to be this close to releasing Call to Arms - Gates of Hell. We want to do this free playtest to allow anyone interested to try our work and get as much feedback as possible, so we can release a product that will stand the test of time and build an honest, open community around it. We will be working on Gates of Hell for many years to come, so setting a solid foundation now is very important to us, and will be equally important for our players, our fans and our modders. The long wait is over. Do not hesitate to share your thoughts in the forums and help test this project with the same passion weā€™ve put into it.

Happy weekend everyone.

This weekā€™s update features new story and event content as well as a big rebalance pass on a lot of the enemies. The game has gotten a bit too forgiving with some of the recent changes to player options and Powers. This update should make encounters a bit more challenging across the board, but without an increase in enemy numbers. If you are scared, most of these changes will not affect Easy mode.
