Heyo folks! This is the start of our new weekly updates about what is going on in the world of Cosmo's Quickstop development. The hope is to keep you updated on what we are working on, what we are thinking about, and to give you a little insight into all the things we are getting done to try to get the game to you!
Bryan - This week I’ve been fleshing out Challenge Mode with a new menu and coming up with names and descriptions for each. The challenges are meant to be optional content that’s supplementary to the campaign, offering unique but familiar experiences. Some focus around using specific amenities or upgrades while others are remixed versions of boss fights. Each challenge is being tested and refined. We want to find a sweet spot for them where the goals of the challenge align with the difficulty of the mechanics. Not too hard and not too easy.
Erin - This week, I've been putting my efforts into finishing up the last cutscene. This one has been half-done for a long time now, so it'll feel good to finally finish it up. A good ending is super important, so just this week we decided to add a few more beats to the cutscene to really make it. My favorite part of working on cutscenes is all the custom animation. Can't wait to show it off!
Lauren - This week I dived into the depths of Twitter and reached out to streamers that would be interested in playing our demo on Steam! I dusted off Instagram and started to post game content and concept art from our other channels to grow on all the platforms, whilst navigating through the new algorithm! Power is knowledge, so I searched the inter-webs for alternatives to E3, this year and other indie conventions so I could gather a golden list of ones we can apply! I wanted to add some more positive vibes to our discord so I added a whole-corner for people to show off anything that has made their day!
Ian - Normally I’m programming or designing but after a big push this previous week, we just started a new round of beta testing! To get everything ready for all this external testing I have been doing boring legal work. This is our first round of non-friends and family testing so we had to get a little more secure about who sees what. So we cobbled together a NDA from some other documents we had that’s perfect for the occasion. This ain’t too exciting but it's a real look at all the lame stuff you got to do while trying to release a freaking game!
And that wraps it up for this week. Keep an eye out every Friday for more updates!
Challenge yourself, challenge everyone in a multiplayer battle arena tournament. The winner will get a Steam game of their choice up to $10 value.
Participation
Participation is easy and free, just join in the game lobby, there is a kiosk with a big Sign Up button. You need to come at a specified time to be shuffled into the 1st round matches. Once the tournament is started, the table will be rendered in the lobby and your match will be ready to join with the big sphere in front of you.
Observers
If you don't feel like a fight but want to spectate matches in real-time and in VR, we have this option for you now. Once the tournament is started, a separate holo table will be displayed in the lobby with all active matches, join any, follow the player or use the free camera mode to fly around. Use your trigger and grip buttons to change a player to follow and the rotation mode.

In this development video, we take a look at a new multiplayer game mode, as well as, an update to the battle terrain system.
We hope you enjoy the video!
INTRO Greetings warriors of Calradia and welcome to Development Update #7.
As always, we will be taking a look at some of the recent and upcoming changes to the game. We hope you enjoy the video!
MULTIPLAYER DUEL MODE En garde! First up, we have a new multiplayer game mode that is currently in the final stages of internal testing and, providing everything goes well, will be coming to the beta version of the game with the next major update.
Duel mode pits you against other players in single combat in a true test of individual skill.
Upon joining a duel server, you will be free to select from all available classes before spawning in a neutral hub area. From here you can initiate a duel, switch your class, or roam around the map and watch any ongoing duels.
The map is made up of an assortment of arenas to support duels across all class types, and provide you with a dedicated space to fight in without any interruptions or distractions.
To issue or accept a duel request with an opponent, you simply need to look directly at them and press the ‘F’ key. If both parties agree, the game tries to find a suitable arena before teleporting you both and starting the duel.
The duel takes place over multiple rounds, with the first person to take 3 rounds being declared the winner. When a duel is successfully concluded, the winner takes a share of their opponent’s score, with higher value targets bringing larger rewards. This is reflected on the scoreboard where you can see who is top dog and try to compete for their position on the table!
BATTLE TERRAIN SYSTEM Next up, we have a fairly significant change that we have been working on for some time now and is getting to the point that we’re ready to show it. But, before we go on we just want to be clear that this is still a work in progress and subject to change, and with the scale of this update, it is likely that work will continue on this well into the future.
The Battle Terrain system is a new approach to how scenes are selected for field battles in relation to the location of the combatants on the world map.
Currently, whenever a battle begins, the game checks the terrain type of the world map location and randomly selects from a connected pool of maps.
With the new system, the world map has been divided into regions, with each region being connected to its own specific scene.
The system also takes into account the location and direction of the parties within the region and uses this to determine where each side will spawn in the battle.
This update aims to give you a more immersive and strategic experience that allows you to take the terrain into account when planning your battles.
NEW TOWN AND CASTLE SCENES And just while we’re on the topic of scenes, we want to highlight the 6 new siege scenes that will be making their way to the beta version of the game in the next update!
These new Empire and Vlandia maps consist of 4 cities and 2 castles, so if you’re on the lookout for a new place to call home, the next beta update might be a good place for you to start!
PILLAGING Perhaps real estate isn’t really your thing, and you’re more into demolition. Well, this next update is one for you!
Pillaging is a new option that was made available to successful besiegers in the recent e1.5.8 beta update. With this update, conquerors are able to pillage or devastate settlements upon capturing them, netting them a quick boost to gold and morale in exchange for damages to the settlement and its inhabitants.
NEW BATTANIAN HELMETS Next up, we have an update on the Battanian armoury which was recently expanded in the 1.5.8 beta version of the game with the addition of 9 new Celtic inspired helmets.
BATTLE MISSION UPDATES Next, we have a couple of battle-related updates.
First is a small improvement to the death camera that will be coming with the next beta patch. This update changes it so the camera cycles through characters of high importance first, such as lords, companions, generals, and sergeants.
And second, was a recent change to the killfeed that can be found in the 1.5.8 beta version of the game. This change added an option that allows you to remove the names of non-hero characters from the killfeed, making it more compact and less obtrusive.
SANDBOX MODE As our penultimate feature in this update video, we are pleased to announce the arrival of a classic sandbox game mode.
Sandbox lets you jump into the game with a clean slate, letting you forge your own path in Calradia without the main storyline to guide you.
With sandbox character creation, we are introducing body weight and build sliders to both story and sandbox mode so that you may further customise your character.
While creating your sandbox character, you will also need to select an age group, which will determine the number of skill points that you start with. Furthermore, your character’s culture is linked to your starting position on the world map, allowing you to decide where your adventure begins.
DLSS And finally, if you are playing the game on an RTX graphics card, make sure to download the recent 1.5.7 hotfix that allows you to active NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling image upscaling technology.
OUTRO And that’s it for Development Update #7. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video, we hope you enjoyed it! If you have any comments, suggestions, or feedback you would like to share, please make sure to leave a reply in the comment section below.
1. Version 1.1.65 -> 1.1.66 2. Successor - Pete Open 3. Death Temple 1) Rewards changed. 2) Difficulty changed. 4. Material Shop open. -> [Shop] -> [Meterial]

Hey there, I'm SnakeBlock! I've been silently creeping around in the shadows, so you might not have heard too much about me. I suppose the secret's out now though - I'm doing art for Repentance! Pretty cool, huh? Sag's still the lead artist - I've mostly been helpin out with art on the side, but I still have a fair few things to show. So, let's get right into it! Let's see here...
MONSTERS
Well, I've made plenty of foes for Isaac to encounter on his journey, so let's start off with a few of those.
SLOG
A very simple enemy for the Dank Depths, this ocular menace is a type of Guts that leaves behind sticky slowing creep, and likes to charge directly at Isaac if he lines up with it.
They can be surprisingly tricky to deal with when there's a bunch of em sliding around at once. Tread carefully!
PLANETOID
This strange floating growth appears in Chapter 4, and has a whole solar system of tears orbiting around it at all times! They occasionally fart and send their tears further outwards to make Isaac's life just a bit harder. You could say it's an enemy version of the Tiny Planet item...
They're real invasive personal space-wise, so they can be pretty difficult to maneuver around. Best to dispatch of them quick.
I've made plenty more freaks for Isaac to meet in the final game, and I've enjoyed every second of it. I hope you guys will enjoy coming across and fighting em just as much! Moving on...
COOL VISUALS
Like Sag, I've also been working on puttin a fresh coat of paint on various bosses in the game (and even a fair few of the regular baddies) to make them look closer to how they did in Flash. So, in a similar vein to Sag's blogpost (which you should check out if you haven't already), I'll be showcasing more of those changes here!
Here's a lil collage I made of some of the resprites I've done:
This isn't everything - there'll be more glowups to see in the final game, so keep your eyes peeled!! Do note that everything here's subject to change, however.
Enemies and bosses aside, I've also given some environmental stuff a bit of a makeover. Specifically, the rocks and other obstacles that make up every room will have a different appearance on every floor, to better match the areas thematically (and look more varied in general). Here's a few examples from the Caves:
the Flooded Caves:
and the Depths:
Alright, the shadows are calling, so I suppose that's it for the blogpost! Huge huge huge thanks to Vinh and Ed for this opportunity, this was pretty fun to write and I hope it's given you guys your fill of Repentance stuff for the week. Toodles!
