Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for February 1st, 2021, detailing all the changes that have happened since January 25th, 2021. Note: Devs that don't appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn't need to be detailed.

Update 0.13.4.1
Once Update 0.13.4.0 was released, we started working on Update 0.13.4.1. This update will include an overhaul to the Condo canvas system, which now will have a default (player-customizable) list of image hosting providers. Players can choose to add or remove image provider domains to this list, and will be warned when entering a condo that has canvases that are hosted on image hosts that aren't trusted. You can read more about this upcoming update here.

Update 0.13.4.0
Last week, we released Update 0.13.4.0, which included the first 9-holes of the new Minigolf map, "Dark". You can read more about this update here.

January 2021 Condo Contest Ends
The January 2021 Condo Contest has ended, and congratulations to "Tipper", "Plasma", and "muntyStain" for their first, second, and third place wins! You can view the submissions here.

Accessibility Suggestions
We've created a forum post asking the community for suggestions on how we can improve gameplay for players with certain conditions such as colorblindness, dyslexia, or anything else that might affect a players ability to use the standard presentation and controls of the game.

Johanna worked on the sign for "Prismatic", created the machine model for another coin pusher named "Coin River", and worked on the machine model for "Ultimate Cow Wheel".

Wheezwer worked on art for the various coin pusher machines.

Will worked on music for "Coloracle" and "Prismatic", as well as finishing all of the sounds for "Prismatic".

Condo Canvas System Overhaul
macdguy worked on overhauling the Condo Canvas System. The new system will include a default list of approved image hosts, which can be modified by the player if they choose to add or remove domains. Upon entering a condo, the player will be warned of any canvases which are hosted on image host that isn't in their approved list.

macdguy worked on re-designing the Tower Unite website.

Madmijk continued working on fixes for "Planetary Piano".

Sketchman looked into optimizations to the backend systems, and is working on identifying and fixing crashes.

Wheezwer worked on concept art for Plaza NPCs, started redesigning the Virus infected model, and finished revising the pine tree material.

Who's Your Daddy?! - Evil Tortilla Games
Hello Everyone!

A number of users brought up some issues with the February Playtest that we wanted to fix before the end of the month update. We appreciate you pointing this stuff out!

Hotfix Changes:
  • Rooms Codes: The latest update introduced a bug where the "Join With Code" option placed all players in the same random room. We fixed this bug, and this screen now connects you to the appropriate room. We have also chosen to remove private/password games entirely in favor of the room code system. You may "Lock" or "Unlock" a room at anytime to prevent more players from joining.

  • Items now spawn in quickplay modes.

  • Win/Lose Jingles now play as expected

  • Fixed the issue where the baby could hover/slide on the ground after jumping

  • Made some changes that should improve controller detection - We recommend setting the default
    controller config to "Gamepad with High Precision Camera/Aim". Please let us know if you are continuing to have issues getting a controller detecting either here on the forums or at support@eviltortillagames.com.

  • Enabled cloud saves - These will save Level, Skin & Perk Selections and Settings to the Steam Cloud

Keep on Chuggin'
Ok but for real, we’re building up more assets as we set up our project for the future. We met last week and laid out our plans for the early part of the year and we have some short-term goals to nail down.
  • First, revamp the user interface to improve the experience and streamline the menus. This is coming along with a behind-the-scenes update to make menus a bit cleaner on our end.
  • Second, polish up the fishing. It’s our main mechanic and we feel there’s more we can add and adjust to really lock it down. We have some plans to change these and they’ll be coming down the pipeline soon.
  • Third, bumping the visual effects. We have some changes to make to the water, splashes, and other magical/fantasy effects.
We got our creative juices flowin’ over the weekend by having a few team members participate in the Global Game Jam. That was a lot of fun and now we’re ready to get back to work.

Stolen From The Dark changed to: Void a non-Avatar Companion from either Ashes. Restore health to yourself equal to their attack. Once a turn, if Stolen From The Dark is in your Ashes, after an allied Avatar enters the Story give the Avatar +2/+1. Then, at the end of your turn, return Stolen From The Dark to your Hand.

Null dreams first ability to 3N.

Null Dreams second ability requires 3 cards to be voided.

Resonance mana cost increased to 2N1A2I.

Forgotten mana cost changed to 2V.

The Headsman’s Axe mana cost increased to 1N1V.

Just A Small Favor mana cost increased to 3N2I.

Just A Small Favor text changed to: Choose one. If you played a “Bag of Crowns” this turn, choose two instead: Develop; disarm all opposing Companions; deal 3 damage to all opposing Companions; or deal 5 damage to any target.

Hexpainter stats increased to 3/2. Dawn damage reduced to 2.

Planar Skew mana cost increased to 3N3I3V.

Gratitude mana cost increased to 2N1I2D. Span decreased to 4.

Maul retreat no longer shares cooldown with Maul enter.

This means Maul enter and Maul retreat now cool down independently. Example: Maul enters. Maul enter is now on cooldown for 2 turns. Next turn. Maul enter CD is now 1. Maul retreats. End turn. Maul enter CD is now 0. Maul can enter again.

This also means Maul can now retreat and enter again in the same turn if it’s been 2 turns since Maul entered.

This has no effect on how Maul being removed from the Story currently works.

Make Maul not targetable by copy effects.

Removed Preparing Primordiums Dusk.

Garden of Thunder to 4 and 6 damage. Mana cost to 3N5I.

Epigone no longer develops.

1. Fix to a small graphical glitch in relation to tall gaps
2. Two more music tracks to choose from (each with two versions)
3. You can now change your music during the game from the pause screen, switching to another one of your three presets.

I’m late - I know... sorry! I promised 48hrs after the Dev Blog video went live, however I’m just a touch over that - wanted to ensure everything was smooth when going live. So here we are!

Again, I have to start out by saying thank you to all the loyal players out there - all the messages and reviews - thank you so much! Looking forward to keeping this fun train rolling! Let's dive into the details...

In case you didn’t watch the video, here's what’s big in this patch.

The Enlightened Card and Artifact expansion!
Enlightened is the first class to get their Card/Artifact expansion, and this one sees over 20 new cards and 15+ Artifacts to digest! The major goals here was to help increase run variety with more commons, but also to make Echo Wall more of a thing you can lean into. Also, to give Shii a little boost at closing out fights. Some fun stuff in there for helping with those higher HP mobs, and enemies with stacked up Fatigue/Shii.



Impossible+ Guided Mode
This was introduced to help with the overhead of getting started with Impossible+, and also to bring some familiarity to players who are coming from other games of this genre. Basically, the freeform method of Impossible+ has been very well received, however it does have an issue with overloading information at first entry.

Now however, I’ve set up a custom Guided mode, which will allow you to have all the modifiers filled out from Instability 1-30, creating a familiar “ladder” type climb. Of course, with one click of a button you can take your Guided mode over to Custom and tweak a few of the modifiers you either don’t like, or put some in that you prefer to play with.



Overall, the goal is to create an easier entry point for new players dabbling in the Impossible+ game mode. When you’re ready to crush out that 50+ Instability achievement however, you’ll need to dive in and get things setup in a custom mode!

Those are the big features, however there's a number of other things added, on top of a bunch of bugs and text corrections. Most are listed below, but as usual, a few things probably slipped through the cracks!

Will be monitoring to ensure this doesn't affect performance too much! - You can no longer double pray at shrines by Menu hopping! - Fixed the hitbox on Artifacts for tooltip display - Fixed how Deliberate and Fatigue interact - Potions should now correctly get "discovered" in the Compendium. - Delay Block won't be capped during trigger from Overwhelming Strength, however the gain of Delay Block will follow the rules for Overwhelming Strength. - Fixed score issue in Daily Draft - Many more tiny fixes as logged inside the Discord Channel.
