Hello, fans of Birth ME Code!

I've decided to dedicate some time in finally updating Birth ME Code now that I'm less busy with the Head AS Code remake. Several patches will follow in the future and here is the general timeline of how I'm envisioning them. Note that I'd rather not be bound to any specific time to make them happen except for the first one, and alongside them I'll be working on Project Deforge (name pending).
  • The first patch will include a complete rewrite of the ending segments. I also plan to make it so if you go into a segment that was modified post-patch with an older save file, it will automatically direct you back to the first modified segment. It is the one named "Usurper", and anything following it will be modified for a better comprehensive understanding of the overarching plot. This patch will go live around the time at which Head AS Code will release on Steam.

  • The second patch will follow sometime later. It will update the game's base code; I intend on rebuilding the main menu almost from scratch to allow for a few additional features and make it easier for everything to function correctly. Multiple global saves and the ability to control the speed at which the text writes in visual novel segments are key features behind this patch. The idea will be to "bring it up to par" with the new level of quality Head AS Code's remake has brought to the table. This patch should follow within February 2021.

  • The third and final patch, which will take quite a while to make will be a complete sprucing up of the entire game. Once again with the idea to bring the overall quality up to Head AS Code's new standard for me, I'll be adding several screen effects and doing a solid round of proofreading to improve the readability of the game. This is also when I'll deliver the next bonus patch, which might be the final one. This patch may take several months to deliver. Apologies for the inconvenience.
It will take a while to get through these patches but please look forward to them. I want to make sure that everyone's experience is as amazing as possible while playing my games. Please excuse the time it will take, I am just one person, and I want to do it right.

Release Notes - 2021-01-26

Attention, Generals!

With today's update for Call of War we readdress the new army labels and adapt them according to your feedback. We also adjust the cost of multiple buildings. With Dawn of the Patriot and Dominion: Antarctica two popular scenarios make a return in the new Call of War version and will be available in upcoming event and scenario rotations.
Last but not least we would like to announce that the time has come to fade out the creation of Call of War Classic game rounds soon. With the next release in two weeks (2021-02-09) players will not be able to create Classic games anymore. You will be able to play ongoing rounds until the beginning of April 2021. But don’t dread, this is not a goodbye but a “see you soon” as we plan to bring Classic back in the form of Events!

Please read the list below for a complete overview of today’s changes.

Army Labels:

  • The 1-3 dots in the bottom corner of the army labels when zoomed out on the map were replaced with the concrete number of units.
  • The diamond shaped icons of the army labels when zoomed out on the map now have drop shadows to stand out better from the map background.
  • A bug was fixed that made aircraft icons jump to their patrol destination immediately. The icon is now displayed on their actual position.
  • City names, Victory Points and resource icons now fade out when you are more than 80% zoomed in to improve visibility of troops. On close zoom levels only the province names of selected provinces are displayed.
  • The armor class icon is now visible on the diamond of the new army labels when playing with an Opera browser.

Balancing:

  • After the cost decrease with the previous update, the costs of Infrastructure buildings were slightly decreased even further.
  • The cost progression for Local Ports and Infrastructure level 2 and 3 were slightly flattened, to give you an additional incentive to upgrade those buildings.
  • The construction costs and times for Propaganda Offices were slightly lowered. This makes the construction of these vital buildings in provinces with low morale easier.
  • The maximum expansion penalty was lowered from -40 to -35. With this change the penalty steps between max and min penalty were gradually lowered accordingly as well.
  • Please note that these changes only affect newly created game rounds. Existing game rounds and Classic games are not affected by these balancing changes.

General:

  • The graphic settings on mobile devices can now be set to “low”, “mid”, “high” or “auto”.
    • The default setting is “auto”, which automatically adjusts the graphic details according to the capabilities of the used device.
    • Players who were automatically forced to use the “low” mode can now switch to higher settings at their own risk.
    • Please be aware that choosing a more demanding setting than the automatically applied one may cause performance issues.
  • The Dominion Antarctica map will be available in upcoming Scenario rotations.
  • The Dawn of the Patriot map will be available in upcoming Event rotations.
  • The ocean textures in the game were improved to be more crisp and look more realistic.
  • A new task was added to the advisor, which introduces new players to the Call of War Wiki.

Bug fixes:

  • The chat on mobile devices no longer automatically scrolls back down to the newest messages when scrolling up to check previous chat responses.
    • The chat now only jumps back to the newest message during a gamestate update or after a certain period of time.
  • An issue was resolved that prevented the attack vector of ranged unit attacks (red arrow) to be displayed.
  • A bug was fixed that prevented units to be displayed for some users on certain maps.
  • In case a production building was partially damaged during an ongoing production the remaining production time was still displayed along with the option to speed up the process. While the production was stopped and the speed up was not clickable, this still caused some confusion and has been fixed.
  • A rare bug was fixed, that caused naval/embarked units to be able to traverse the borders of the map and be displayed slightly outside of the actual map.
  • An issue was resolved that caused black spots to be displayed on terrain textures when using the political view or morale view mode.
  • A bug was fixed that prevented impact craters to be displayed after a ranged unit attacked.
  • Various minor bugs on several maps have been fixed and the map geometry improved.
  • Some wrong task descriptions in the Adviser were corrected.

We've added an option to increase the size of the subtitles. You can find it in the 'gameplay' section of the menu.

Minor balancing adjustments for Guardians and Warriors.

Bug fixing
We've fixed this list of bugs:
  • Some enemies couldn't find a route to the player, and they concentrated in specific places. The experience should be improved specially in 'Redemption in the Farm' quest
  • Fixed several bugs which prevented from complete the quest called 'Cave of Eternity'
  • Several fatal errors have been solved. The game should be more stable.
  • Sometimes formations had problems spawning, and could appear in weird places.
  • Sometimes, the tutorial practice dummy was not hittable

Known bugs
  • Sometimes, events related to Brigg's Loyalty quest don't start as expected
  • Some equipment items may not include the texts translated into all languages. If you find any translation error, feel free to report it in the forum, so we can fix it as soon as possible

Hear my words and bear witness to my vow! Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my... Wait, that was for something else. Murch is here, your sentinel of the abandoned radio station in the middle of the mountains, and this is the new episode of “Voice of the Wasteland”.

Option number two was chosen, but we will approach the plan’s execution a little from afar. Because today’s episode begins with an unusual experiment, specifically with a top comment about the previous episode (spelling and punctuation are preserved):

“Like if you're so inconspicuous that you can take a picture from under the subject’s wheels”

Sometimes it seems to me that you are here only for my super-detailed photos of armoured vehicles and a red envelope. Why do you think I set up all these camera traps? To mention them in the text and simply forget about them afterwards? It took more than a week to install them. Or maybe you don’t understand how boring and lonely it can be here at times? You actually begin to get into the camera traps installment? So let me tell you.
  • First you go to a local village and find the first camera trap in a pile of junk.
  • Then you break it when you try to figure out what you are holding in your hands.
  • You pay for your mistakes with coins.
  • You dig out another one and this time you act more carefully.
  • In total, you find a dozen of these traps from the owner. Apparently they were packed in the same package once. At least they look similar.
  • You bring them to the radio station and lay them out in front of you.
  • You dismantle them and examine the broken apparatus.
  • You begin to understand how it works.
  • You learn that the traps require film.
  • You’re dragging yourself to the market again. Fortunately, things are not bad with the film in the villages nearby. Maybe there was once a film storage nearby? Who knows.
  • You set up camera traps along the perimeter around the station at a distance of about a meter and for almost a week you just try to take a picture of anything.
  • To be more specific, you manage to take a picture right away. But how do you know that everything is working as it should when you don’t have a single soul around? Run around the camera traps, trying to trigger them.
  • Of all the functions, you manage to find only triggering for movement and shaking. Your knowledge ends there. And you don’t need more than that, really.
  • For some time, you specifically look for, order, ask all the merchants about these camera traps (the merchants already recognize you as a guy buying some nonsense).
  • Then you stretch the whole net along the mountain slopes around. One under a stone, another one on a ledge and you hit a sandstone to get a fracture to install another one.
  • When you think that something interesting has fallen into the trap, you go to the trap.
  • You open it, covering it with a rag from direct sunlight. You take out the film.
  • You take the film to the station for developing.
  • But you can’t do the same with all cameras, as uninvited guests of not the most friendly kind hang out nearby.
  • So, you make a decision about the place that should be monitored in order to understand whether that camera trap will be triggered from close movement or not.
  • At night you will have to crawl and risk yourself in order to simply publish something in a new episode.
And someone will say “why the trouble, just take a picture of what you need through binoculars”, to which I will respond “then I wouldn’t be able to show you this”.

  3. Plateau, already occupied by a group of strangers;
