Coteries of New York celebrates its first Birthday today! Precisely a year ago, on December 11th, 2019, at 7 PM CET / 6 PM GMT / 10 AM PT the first, fully licensed Vampire: The Masquerade game since many years was released and in our wildest dreams we couldn't imagine that it will be Coteries of New York!
Now, 2020 comes to an end. It's been a strange year, a bad year, a difficult year. Many of our loved ones, friends, colleagues got sick. Some of the closest to us lost their battles with the virus and we will always carry them in our hearts and memories...
Our studio and Coteries did well. The game recouped its development and marketing costs in just four day since launch, participated in Humble Choice in September, inspired many talented performers and artists to produce wonderful cosplay creations and pieces of art, got its standalone expansion - Shadows of New York and finally received the CEEGA award in the Best Narrative category.
Soon, Coteries will be updated with three language versions - French, Russian and Brazilian Portuguese and today, to celebrate the 1st Birthday properly, both our Vampire: The Masquerade titles participate in the first World of Darkness Steam bundle together with our friends from Different Tales, Walkabout and Choice of Games!
Vampire: The Masquerade - Coteries of New York has a bright future ahead - further language versions, new updates, new platforms perhaps? We're always open to listen to your suggestions and if you'd like to talk directly with the development team, please don't hesitate and join our Discord!
Thank you for being with us this whole year. Your continuous support and Presence (!) means a world to us!

The price for the Early Access launch will be an outrageously cheap $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.49 / ₺24.50 with a 10% launch discount. If you own Dealer's Life 1 there will be a bundle available to get an additional 10% off! 🤯
Do you have what it takes to ace the lively test that awaits you? Wizards level 10 and above can showcase their spell-slinging skills as they claw their way to the top of the Life Deckathalon Tower. With no bonuses from your gear, level, or the ability to use regular trained spells, it’ll just be up to you, your treasure cards, and a well-crafted strategy to fight your way through 30 floors of vigorous enemies. Those who manage to reach the top will be challenged by Professor Wu herself!
Each Wizard will gain three entries into the Life Deckathalon per day. Upon entry, you’ll be able to climb the tower as high as you can until you’re defeated or run out of treasure cards. Once you run out of entries, you’ll need to wait for the next day to claim more.
As you battle to the top of the tower, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase crafting recipes that may help you on your journey to becoming a top Deckathlete. After all, only the most dedicated Wizards will rise to the top of the leaderboard! High ranking Deckathletes can earn unique badges and trophies for their achievements.
Defeating monsters in the Deckathalon and using treasure cards in battle will contribute points to your individual progress bar. Accumulating enough points can reap great rewards such as the all-powerful Hands of Fate weapon and cute Life Class Pet!

This is the longest we've spent making a single game. Back in 2018 we didn’t know that this game would turn out like this. Not least of which because nobody expected 2020 would turn out the way it has. What started as a simple exploration to see if we could capture the magic of a birdwatching hike, has become Alba: a Wildlife Adventure, the pre-apocalyptic game some of us sorely need right now. We wanted to take the world we remembered from our summers growing up, and turn it into an experience for others to enjoy. But we didn't expect just how nostalgic that would feel now that we have to stay indoors to keep each other safe. A few team members have remarked how nice it was to be able to just take little strolls within the game world, as a way to escape the stress of the reality outside. Sure, we are biased. But we are very proud of this game and hope you like it.
Setting out to make an open-world game was a huge challenge. Making games is hard. This is our biggest game ever. It's the longest, the most complex, the biggest team, the most platforms we've ever launched on, and so on. Before this game, we never had more than 15 people work on a single game. At one point we had a team of 25 people. Sure, some AAA studios are used to dealing with a much more complex organisation but for us, this was a big deal. Despite all that, we can all still say this project felt personal. Every person that worked on this has made their mark and we are so lucky to have worked with incredible people during all this. Seriously, check out the credits, every one of those people is individually remarkable, and the game is better off for them.
The last thing we wanted to mention is the game's themes. Like we said before, we just wanted to make a bird-watching game. But as we were writing the story and the wider world, we couldn't avoid the obvious topics. The game deals with the complex relationship between humans and nature, and that made us explore our relationship. If people feel inspired, as we have, by Alba and her movement, we invite them to check out our website albawildlife.com for more information for how they can help out and make the world around us a better place.
It is fitting that for our biggest game, we wrote our biggest Steam announcement. This has been a massive project for us and we thank anybody that's been involved from the bottom of our hearts. But we especially thank you, the player, for taking a second to even read this. If you play the game, thanks again. We made this in the hope that you enjoy this little slice of the very real world we loved in our childhoods and that we hope that our children can continue to enjoy.
