It’s now been 7 months since the beginning of our adventure in zero-g! Thanks to your support and feedback, we are constantly improving the game. We are extremely grateful for all the love we’ve received so far!
If you want to show your support to the team and rise against LYNX Corp’s questionable work ethic, you can now vote for Hardspace: Shipbreaker to be nominated in the Most Innovative Gameplay category!
Following the reveal of ournew Javelin-class starship early this week, the game is now 30% off on Steam until December 1! Stay tuned for more info in the upcoming weeks!
As always leave your feedback in the comments below, it is hugely appreciated and has helped us shape up the game to be the best it can be! Plus, we'll be working off of this feedback and doing more testing to get these updates to the live version!
Dangerous Plants
The land begins to stir and a dormant threat is growing once again. A deadly species of carnivorous plant unique to the mysterious archipelago bears its teeth with subspecies emerging shaped by the harsh environments.
Entering the swamp is now even more dangerous! The poisonous subspecies infests the bogs. Don't get too close! It protects itself by spreading its deadly spores in the area around it.
The volcanic environment is a harsh and barren place, where only the hardiest of plants can survive. The volcanic subspecies emerges from the ashes, spitting flaming seeds at its prey.
Bug fixes and QOL changes
Fixed an issue where biomes were not triggering their visual effects correctly. Hostile biomes will now feel less welcoming.
Added 3 new enemies in the form of hostile plants that will attack players and Orclings.
Removed unnecessary collision on bone piles.
Fixed an issue where wolves & birds looked like they weren't being hit.
Wolves & birds should now appear more frequently in the world.
All big cats will appear more frequently in the world.
Cat lairs are now very dangerous at night. Good luck!
Item rarities are now slightly clearer in the crafting tree.
It is now slightly harder to avoid the attacks of big cats.
Minor balancing tweaks to the stranger shop.
Spectres are now slightly easier to see at night.
That's it for this update, we hope you like these changes and look forward to hearing what you think about them! We'll be looking to move forward with more changes and the new content into a live patch as soon as we can so any feedback is hugely appreciated.
If you don't have access to the Experimental Branch yet for The Survivalists and would like to try upcoming changes to the game you can do some by following the information below...
Installing the Experimental Branch
Warning on save data
If you access the Experimental Branch you risk your save data. We highly recommend backing up your save data before accessing it. Your save data default should be here:
You can just copy this to another folder for safe keeping.
Your current save will be compatible with the new Experimental Branch but likely you will not be able to go back to default with that save. The Experimental Branch will be kept up to date, so you could in theory just play the new branch going forwards. Also you will only be able to play online with other experimental branch players as the default will be incompatible.
Steps to enable Experimental Branch
First right click the game in your Steam Library and select Properties.
Then select the ‘Betas’ tab.
From here select Experimental from the dropdown list.
Once you next try to open The Survivalists on Steam you should automatically download the experimental branch!
Experimental Branch Feedback
Let us know all your thoughts and feedback in the ‘Experimental Branch Feedback’ section on the Steam forums and feel free to report any issues in the ‘Report Experimental Branch Problems’ area.
Thanks again for all your support and feedback so far, we can’t wait for everyone to try out all of the tweaks and new changes!
We'll keep everyone up to date here on Steam when all of the new changes roll onto the new branch and live.

With this small update, we're excited to introduce crossplay between Steam and the Epic Games Store.
If you’re playing on Steam and want to play MudRunner with players on the Epic Games Store (EGS), you'll need to have an EGS account. When joining the multiplayer menu, you’ll be asked if you want to enable crossplay. If you don’t accept, you can only play with other Steam players that haven’t enabled crossplay. If you accept, a web page will open in your browser asking you to log in to (or create) an EGS account.
To play MudRunner with friends from the Epic Game Store, you'll need to link your EGS account and Steam account.
How to find my friends from the Epic Games Store:
First, you must link your Steam and Epic Games account. Please follow these instructions.
Once you've linked your accounts, a permission box will appear in your internet browser the next time you launch MudRunner on Steam.
Finally, to find your Epic Friends on Steam, you need to allow this permission:
Now, after creating a lobby, you will find your EGS friends in the friends list.
This update also fixes an issue with mods on Steam where mods created after June 2020 were not working in multiplayer.
We hope you enjoy playing with your friends across both Steam and the EGS!
In case you encounter major issues with this update, you can revert to the previous build. To do this, go to your library, right-click on MudRunner > Properties > BETAS > Select “vers_11_05_19”
