A giant and imposing feminine face made of bits of floating metal looks upon the player character.Godfall

came out earlier this month. It is an ARPG looter-shooter, except the combat is almost entirely melee, so its a, uh, hacker-packer? But what it really is, is a game that is more dedicated to the look> than any I have ever played. I’ve been diving in and out of it for the past couple of weeks and it is so beautiful, and so extreme and specific in its beauty, that I am charmed by it.

Godfall is epic, overwrought, sci-fi fantasy, so it’s a lame nerd’s idea of what is cool, and I love it. It’s like the video this guy would make for a DragonForce video if he had unlimited budget. It is Lord Of The Rings via a Monster Hunter fashion Tumblr. It is the “tears in rain” speech from Blade Runner, but as if that was performed by Jareth the Goblin King in his castle of M.C. Escher stairs, twirling a handful of magic crystal balls. Oh my god, oh my god, it is Jupiter Ascending. Did you see that? The movie where Channing Tatum is a literal dog soldier but with wings, and Douglas Booth tries to marry Mila Kunis who is the reincarnation of his dead mum? It’s that, it’s that it’s that>.

In celebration of The Secret Of Monkey Island‘s 30th birthday last month (30!), the Video Game History Foundation held a stream discussing the classic adventure game with boss man Ron Gilbert. That cost $10 to help support their preservation work, but after a few weeks they’ve made it free for everyone to watch. Seeing as the Foundation are well into the development of games, not just finished products, they also delve into cut content and even give a live demonstration of SCUMM coding. If you fight like a dairy farmer, this is for you.

Like me, a deals maniac, SteelSeries have obviously caught the [cms-block] bug a wee bit early, because they’ve got some great member discounts on some of our favourite gaming mice, keyboards and headset picks – many of which beat the prices you’ll find on Amazon this week. They’re among some of the best [cms-block] and [cms-block] out there, and since ‘member’ here means ‘person who has signed up to their website for free’, you should probably take a look if you’re in the market for clicky-clacks or speaky-hears.

There are some not-insignificant reductions on some of SteelSeries’ most premium hardware, including £40 off the flashy Apex Pro keyboard. Plus, one of our favourite gaming mice, the Rival 310 is down to a dealstastic £35.

The pandemic has forced many companies to challenge their ideas about how they make games, especially about having everyone together in offices. Final Fantasy makers Square Enix shifted to working from home this year, and it’s gone so well that they’re choosing to open this up as a permanent option for many. They say this will let them increase flexibility and diversity, help with work-life balance, and ultimately be more creative. They expect 80% of employees will be working from home when this scheme launches next month. It’s pretty great to see such a prolific company being open to this.

is the latest in Activision’s giant FPS series. We’ve been playing a whole lot of it, including the fancy pants campaign with all its branching options, as well as our classic bread-and-butter multiplayer guides. We’ve even been diving into Zombies mode, which has been an absolute treat, and unearthing special strats to help you get all the way to the later rounds.

As [cms-block] edges ever closer, another PC game sale emerges from the fold. Fanatical have kicked off their Black Friday offers with some excellent discounts – including 56% off both Death Stranding and the new ultimate edition of Control. Fanatical’s sale boasts 5336 deals in total, which is an awful lot. But fear not, I’ve had a rummage through and picked out a few more highlights so you don’t have to go scrounging through them all yourself.

A Monster Hunter World: Iceborne screenshot showing Milla Jovovich's character in the movie crossover event.

A Monster Hunter movie from the director of Resident Evil could never actually be like Monster Hunter the game… unless Capcom made the game like the movie. Which they are. They’ve announced a crossover event between Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and the upcoming movie, where we’ll get to play as Milla Jovovich’s character from the Paul W. S. Anderson flick and earn her armour for keepsies. They’ve even got Milla to voice her character in these new singleplayer quests.

WD's Blue SN550 resting against a keyboard.

Merry [cms-block] week to all you deals fiends out there, and what a trio of [cms-block] I have got lined up for you this morning. Over on Amazon UK, the 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB versions of the excellent WD Blue SN550 have been hit with some record-breaking price cuts. The main highlight here is the 1TB model on sale for just £80 – that’s £5 cheaper than Prime Day, making it a new record low price for this capacity.
