The Artful Escape - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

With only a month and a bit to go ’til we ring in the new year, Annapurna Interactive this week announced that their remaining slate of 2020 releases will no longer launch this year. 12 Minutes, The Artful Escape and Last Stop have instead been pushed back to next year – and while the publishers haven’t given specifics over the trio of delays, they reckon the final stages of polishing all three can’t be wrapped before the turning of the calendar.

Johnny Silverhand, the Keanu Reeves fella, in a frame from E3 2019's Cyberpunk 2077 cinematic trailer.

Hopefully, we’ve all made peace with Cyberpunk 2077 not coming out this week. But that doesn’t mean today has to be entirely free of neon-tinted nonsense. The latest (and final) episode of developer streamshow Night City Wire just wrapped up, an auditory showcase on the game’s soundtrack headlined by a new trailer Johnny “actually Keanu Reeves” Silverhand.

Hitman's Agent 47 sillouhetted in shadowsHitman: Codename 47

was released 20 years ago today. In all that time, IO Interactive have crafted an entertaining seven-game series (not including spin-offs), with the eighth aiming for the heart in January 2021. The subject matter might be grim, but from the very first game, IO Interactive were always happy to fold information and easter eggs into their immersive sim (don’t @ me) to a ridiculous degree. The games all have murderdeathkills, but they also have hauntings, mythical creatures, and real-world actors as targets.

I’ve had a blast digging up some forgotten facts and 47’s more bizarre moments (this does mean this list contains some spoilers, so beware). There are so many that this could have been 200 facts for 20 years, but I stuck with 20. It seemed right. Enjoy!

Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what the connection between these two franchises is. But if developers ClockStone have proven themselves good at anything, building bridges has gotta be up there. Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead‘s undead spin on the studio’s crossing-builder is out now, tasking you with ferrying Norman Reedus and co. to safety while funneling undead hordes to their overdue demise.

Cyberpunk 2077 player character V is strapped in a chair, ready to 'braindance'. A young woman with green and pink hair, and lots of tattoos, is leaning on one arm of the chair looking at them.

In the most recent Night City Wire (which to my eyes seemed a pretty obvious attempt to reassure everyone that the current gen console builds work totally fine, pls don’t cancel your Xbox preorders) showed large chunks of a mission called Automatic Love. It’s the most recent peek at the game in action that we’ve seen, ahead of the delayed launch on December 10th and another Night City Wire tonight.

There were a lot of fun details revealed by that footage. But there is one, small and basically inconsequential, that I cannot stop fixating on.

Shenmue III - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Imogen Beckhelling)

Today, I invite you to go back in time and visit China to search for a little bit of vengeance. Specifically, back to spring 1987, to help a young Ryu Hazuki hunt for his father’s killer. Of course, you could partake in a spot of tortoise-racing or chicken-chasing while you’re it. That’s right, I’m talking about the weird and wonderful world of Shenmue 3, which sheds its Epic exclusivity and arrives on Steam today.

A screenshot of Yuna, Rikku and Paine from Final Fantasy X-2. They are awesome.

I don’t want anyone to be disappointed, but Nate is away this week so you’ve got an Alice ‘n’ Matthew special for The Electronic Wireless Show podcast, since I couldn’t draft in a third body in time. Nevertheless, this week we had a grand old time, albeit one with less chat about animals. In fact, we manage to talk about games quite a lot! Historically speaking, JRPGs didn’t often come to PC, but the times, they are a changin’, so we have plenty to chat about.

There aren’t none> diversions. We talk quite a lot about scaffolding, for example. Don’t forget to tune in to the Five Nights At Freddy’s Book Club spin-off podcast.

Want one of AMD’s new Ryzen 5000 CPUs but haven’t decided on a motherboard to pair it with? A handful of MSI’s compatible AM4 500-series boards have been on the business end of some early [cms-block] price-chopping courtesy of Ebuyer, so now might be a good time to make your move.

A logo for Project 007, showing the name through the twisted barrel of a gun

Well, I was very wrong about what IO Interactive were about to unveil. I thought they were prepping a new Freedom Fighters game, but they surprised everyone by announcing ‘Project 007’, a James Bond game. It’s so new that there’s no footage and no name. We’re left with just the teaser below, and the snippet that it covers Bond’s origin story.
