Hello Tinkerers & Tycoons,

With the Spooky Season ahead, we have great news for you! While you won't be able to design vampire bots or hire zombies in Good Company v0.8, the big "Develop Your Company" update is brimming with new content, features, and improvements!

Besides refining existing features to continuously make Good Company more accessible and fun, we have also added more depth to the gameplay through new ways to engage with the game - Company Goals, Business Development, and Policies.

As always, the community helped us beta-test and the feedback is very positive so far. In fact, lots of changes we have introduced since Good Company v0.7 have been an amazing community effort over the past months and we are very grateful for your steady and constructive support!

We think Good Company v0.8 "Develop Your Company" is another important step on our journey through Early Access, and we hope you have lots of fun with it. Here is an overview of the new features and content since the last big update:

Good Company v0.8 – Changelog

Company Goals
Access the Company Goals panel by pressing F9 and find a variety of Company Goals available for you to take on. Accomplish up to 3 goals at a time before the deadline hits and earn Success Points and unlock Passive Effects, such as Increased Assembly Speed.

Business Development
The BizDev Tree, as we call it, opens with F10 and gives you access to a wide range of development nodes, which cover specific aspects of your production. Unlock these nodes by spending Discovery Points, Research Data and/or money to gain access to better equipment and Policies.

Policies
Another step for deeper gameplay is the addition of Policies. Once unlocked, you can assign up to
3 Policies per Work Zone, in order to change its work performance. For instance, you can increase Crafting Speed or Research Speed. However, advantages can come with disadvantages.

Toy Robot
In three cute model variations, we are introducing the Toy Robot which joins Good Company's early products, Pocket Computer and Game Device.

Farm Map
To match the season, please welcome "Golden Acres", the third and new Freeplay Map. With 3,464 m² and 17 buildings, there is more colorful space for your business to thrive in – not including the henhouse, that is.

Ambient Sounds
We have started implementing an Ambiance Sound System for Good Company. By controlling various sound layers, it will be reflecting the acoustic atmosphere based on the camera view, inside and outside your production facilities. Basic outdoor and indoor layers for the Freeplay Maps are already active.

Markets
  • Display a preview of the market parameter changes for the next phase by hovering over the progress button.
  • Markets can now be discovered via the Market Tree by spending Discovery Points.
  • Market balancing has been improved in order to match recent gameplay changes.

Freeplay
  • We have changed the Milestones to improve the progress flow.
  • New equipment will be unlocked in the Business Development tree from now on.
  • The Noise Modifier option in the Freeplay settings has been removed for now.
  • The Freeplay system balancing got updated to take into account new features.

Interface
  • The game's main panels, such as Markets Overview or Blueprint Designer, are now displayed in 'full-screen' view.
  • Success Points, Research Data, and Discovery Points are now displayed right next to your Account Balance.

Blueprint Designer
  • We have redesigned parts of the GUI for improved usability.
  • You can now use a random name generator for your designs.
  • The process workflow for designing a product has been improved.
  • We have added more QoL updates to the Blueprint Designer.

Company Statistics
  • Statistics now include company-wide passive effects as well as those resulting from Policies.
  • In addition, figures in Company Statistics are now more accurate.

Research
  • We have removed Tier requirements for Research Projects.
  • There is now a research queue available to process several projects more easily.
  • Research Projects have been split into distinct categories and are now vertically browsable.
  • You can now display tooltips containing module information when hovering over a Research Project.

Courier Pallet and Automatic Logistics
  • We have removed automatically adding Item Rules on Courier Pallets. Your feedback helped us realize that the automatic approach did more harm than good. Adding Item Rules on pallets works manually now: you have full control over what gets placed on a pallet, while the rest of the logistics still gets connected automatically.
  • Automatic Logistics is now compatible with machines and Conveyor Belt setups. An example: Previously, Automated Logistics would directly try to take items from a machine, even though the machine was connected to a Conveyor Belt. Now Automatic Logistics will 'follow' the Conveyor Belt setup to its end and take the items from there.

Conveyor Belts
  • Conveyor Belts can now also start or end in a curve segment.
  • The start/end direction will automatically snap to a tile when there is a respective pushing or receiving entity.
  • It is also possible to build Conveyor Belts that are just one tile long. This is especially useful for those tight machine setups you keep amazing us with.

Halloween Decor
  • Spooky Halloween-themed décor items will unlock on the first game session after the update.
  • Use these to decorate your company for the season (be sure to send us a screenshot)!

Salutations!

Recently we started looking into adding more particles to the game. We knew for a while it’s one of our weak points since nobody on the team was experienced with making them. After a recent game release, we asked Croteam if we could borrow their particle creator, and they agreed, so now we have Alen, a person with experience who’s making a lot of our particles. He’s making them really fast too! We also added support for geometric particles (it’s basically just a model with a specific shader that makes it look cool). Today’s post shows how our particle visuals have improved since you last saw the game during the festivals.

The design and art members are working together to discuss which things need particles, and how they should look. The current idea for status effects is to make all buffs use one and all debuffs use another effect. We figure this should make it clear what type of effect was granted, and inspection of the unit can help you note what the effect does. On that note, our lead art boi has started working on improving the UI elements, to make them a cohesive whole, which might prompt a change to how we present unit info. Once we have something done, I’ll be showing that off.

We could also use some feedback on something. One discussion point was about making each status effect to have its own unique icon in the particle effect, instead of having all buffs use the same icon and all debuffs use another icon. Do you think it’s better to have all status effects have a unique icon or is having a single icon for buff/debuff types good enough (like the Hunter's Mark and Vial of Poison gifs)? Give us your thoughts in the steam forums, comments, or our Discord server. I attempt to read all of those, but your 100% chance is Discord.

Some quick fixes added to Harthorn based on player feedback, the big ones being the pressure plate puzzle and the battle with Victor.
  • General: Audio balancing on UI elements

  • Condemned North Wing: Audio balancing
  • Condemned West Wing: Fixed library door
  • Condemned East Wing: Better diagram to solve pressure plate riddle

Disjunction - Sean SoldOut


The third character that you play as in Disjunction is a grey hat hacker who goes by the alias “Spider.” Spider made a name for herself in cyberspace while escaping from her past in the brutal Chinatown underworld. She used to work as a hacker for a Chinatown crime syndicate named the Harmonious Path, which her family has strong connections with. After several years, she grew disillusioned and cut ties with both her family and her past.

At the start of the game, Spider has managed to eke out a living on her own, living a quiet life spent mainly in cyberspace. Things change when her cousin, the current leader of the Harmonious Path, is killed in a violent coup. She is contacted by her estranged father and asked to help him restore the balance of power in Chinatown. Either out of a feeling of duty to her family, or because she doesn’t want to see her neighborhood descend into chaos, she accepts. As is often the case in the underworld, her mission ends up being more sinister than she bargained for.



Spider is a reserved, calculating, and fiercely independent person. She actively tries not to form connections with others, because she doesn’t trust anybody. Still, she has a strong sense of responsibility and cares more than she lets on.

Spider is in her late 20s, sports a buzzed haircut, and has a cybernetic neural implant embedded into the side of her skull. She always carries a handheld holographic projector to distract any would-be pursuers, as well as a shockglove in case things get dicey. She has a tattoo of a large spider crawling on her arm.

During the holidays you will be able to transform into a smiley vegetable, to shine with your clean-shaven skull or to play hockey with your friends by using, of course, an axe and an expressive gesture system understandable in any language 👻🎃💀😵



Swimming
We couldn’t also ignore fans of underwater hunting, now your character will inevitably go up to the surface but instead you get the ability to swim across the water obstacles.

In addition to that, we added the agro-industrial complex, where you will be able to meet workers of the local agricultural sector.

Eternal Magic - Violet Samers


In the darkest and most mysterious time of the year, right after the last of the crops have been picked, a harvest of a different kind begins. Malevolent spirits come to haunt Terrasians, who, in turn, decorate their dwellings with pumpkins and dolls, while dressing as the characters of the most terrible legends, to keep the mischievous specters at bay, as was the tradition since times immemorial. This year, however, a simple masquerade will not suffice, for the terrible Headless Horseman, ruler of the Undead Realm, has arrived to Terrasia with its ghastly entourage! Only the combined efforts of all of the individual server’s heroes will be enough to overpower this ancient evil, bringing glory and generous rewards to its vanquishers!

The Halloween event will be held in Eternal Magic from October 28 until November 8 inclusively. The following article is intended to familiarize the reader with the local festive customs!

NEW OUTFITS AND SETS

Only during Halloween, sets will appear in the store, which are presented below:

Halloween surprise:
- Bats of the Endless night costume;
- Elite spirit stone;
- 100 Elven tears or 20 Wishing stones, player's choice.

WHERE LIFE AND DEATH BLEND TOGETHER

Players, who have already reached level 30, are encouraged to visit Kira at the Fantis’ Harbor (1280,1412) to help investigate the appearance of the sinister Gate of the Dead. Here you can earn a new pet - the infamous Scandalous Pumpkin - as well as gain access to even more Halloween activities, each with its own set of valuable rewards!



TURKEY WARS

On your festive journey, you are sure to run into Ladiyas in Vallund (995,1123). By the way, why not stop to appreciate the street decorations put up by the fun-loving townsfolk, while in the city? Unfortunately, as Ladiyas will not hesitate to inform you, due to this year’s increased paranormal activity, ordinary people find themselves in need of help from brave and venturous heroes. Thus, she will invite you to participate in the “Turkey wars” event, available once per day: here you will need to disguise yourself as a scarecrow and protect the holiday feast from the ravenous pumpkin army, sent by the Headless Horseman to ruin the celebration. Nobody is going home hungry from this banquet: depending on your performance and the selected difficulty level, you will be awarded various appetizing meals, including turkey wings, legs, or - if you are especially successful - a whole turkey, stuffed with delicious consumables and Scandalous Pumpkin fragments!



THE HEADLESS HORSEMAN

From October 28 to November 8 in the evenings at 20:30-23:59 (server time), prepare to do battle with the malicious tyrant of the Undead Realm itself! The fighting will continue until the very end of the festival. All heroes will get 5 daily attempts to triumph over the leader of the invaders, earning chests full of rare rewards in the process! Drop by the new “Undead Realm” dungeon to face off against the villainous cavalier. Don’t expect the opponent to play fair though, for as soon as they set foot in the realm of the dead, your character will be transformed into a pumpkin with a set of unique abilities. You will have to put these to good use and act wisely to stand a chance of banishing the Horseman from the world of the living!



The first time you send the boss back whence it came from, you will receive a chest with plenty of Scandalous Pumpkin fragments, level 3 spirit stones, explorer coupons, wish stones, etc. Subsequent victories will bring you gift boxes with randomized rewards, which may include prized relics, cryptids, a magical broom mount, useful consumables, EXP, gold, as well as items for your pets.

But that’s not all: there is another, special server-wide campaign chest! Turn in the tainted medals, obtained from the Headless Horseman, to Kira and she will convert them into points. All of the players on an individual server will have to work together to fill in the progress bar and unlock this final bonus. Repel the invaders and save Terrasia!

New Solo Dungeon: Hallowed Ground
The Hallowed Ground dungeon, introduced during last year's Allhallows event as a group dungeon, now also appears in a new solo version. Both versions appear at random throughout all T4-T8 zones as a pumpkin-themed portal. Once inside you'll find eerie pumpkin-lined corridors, creepy-crawly monsters, and the mysterious final boss known only as Bob.



The final chest offers valuable loot, including a rare chance for mount skins like the Jack o' Donkey and Horse Macabre, so put on your best pumpkin-slaying gear and prepare for a fight!
