Here we go again. The latest big tech company that fancies their chances with cloud gaming is Facebook, who’ve revealed their approach to it all today. Refreshingly, it’s pretty different to Google Stadia or Amazon Luna. In fact, it doesn’t even have a fancy name. Facebook’s plan is simply just to release a bunch of free-to-play cloud-streamed games in the app and on browser, some of which have already launched.

Ray McCoy out to pick up dinner in a Blade Runner game wallpaper.

Nightdive’s remaster of Westwood’s great Blade Runner adventure game will not launch this year after all. Turns out, reverse-engineering a game to rebuild it in a whole new engine without access to the original assets is a bit of work. I still don’t see why they’re putting this much effort into it when a perfectly fine version is available on GOG, running in ScummVM. Especially when the first bit Nightdive that showed, an update version of the opening cutscene, looked worse than the original.

Ghostrunner - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Matthew Castle)

Elite cyber ninja? I died 1423 times in Ghostrunner. Over a seven hour campaign that roughly works out at three deaths a minute. That’s the kind of toll even today’s shower of political leaders would struggle to shrug off. A body count so vast I wonder if I ever actually understood Ghostrunner or simply fluked through. In the same way that I passed my driving test after nine failures: instead of enjoying my right to drive, I remember the nine out of ten people who think I’m a danger to the public. In both cases I feel glum despite the victory.

Fallout: New Vegas

celebrated its 10th birthday last week. Can you believe the best Fallout game came out on October 19th 2010? 2010! To honour an entire decade of Obsidian’s brilliant-but-buggy RPG, the game’s director Josh Sawyer did a couple of charity streams to raise money for the California Wildlife Relief Fund.

Over the weekend, he managed to raise just under $24,000 (around £18,000) for the cause, all while beating up hordes of radscorpions with dynamite and answering questions about the game’s development.

[cms-block] may be just over a month away right now, but the early Black Friday deals train is already well and truly underway, with Amazon things off with a bunch of SSD deals to name just a few discounts they’ve having right now. Fortunately, their early Black Friday SSD deals are on my absolute favourite drive of the last year – the excellent WD Blue SN550. While these early Black Friday SSD deals aren’t quite as good as what we saw over Prime Day, they’re still good prices compared to the rest of the year, and I’ve rounded them all up below.
