Hello and Welcome to another development diary for Europa Universalis IV. Sadly Groogy is sick so we have to shuffle around our planning a bit and give you something that was not originally planned for today.
Today we’ll talk a little bit about what we are doing with Diplomacy for the expansion that is accompanying the 1.31 patch, as it's one of the major areas of it.
First of all, the concept of favors, which was introduced in The Cossacks, is now also unlocked by this expansion, as it will become far more used than just using it to get your allies to join you in offensive wars. More on that in later development diaries.
Secondly, we also changed how the favors were calculated, so instead of having a chance of getting a favor once a year, you now get favors overtime, depending on the same factors as impacted the chance of getting a favor before, ie the relative military power.
Finally, this new expansion will see a new diplomatic action called “Curry Favors”. This requires an active diplomat, and will slowly increase the amount of favors you have with them, depending on your diplomatic reputation and the target's opinion of you. You will slowly lose favors over time with nations that are not your allies, nor you attempting to curry favors with. As this was a rather short development diary, I’m adding a screenshot showing one of the events you can get if you have the horde ideagroup set. Hopefully Groogy is back next week to write his development diary on Hedgehogs!

DISCOVER THE ANADOLOU REGION
Journey into the distant past and follow the Kingdom of Empyros and their grand militia, the Symmachean Brotherhood, as they embark on a doomed campaign across the land of Anadolou. All players will start Season V in lands anew and eventually discover this stunning new region. The first to be introduced since the launch of Conqueror’s Blade, Anadolou will provide the theatre for Territory Wars, a bi-weekly event where players can fight for control of the land.

With Season V: Legacy of Fire, we’ve made it easier than ever for new warlords to start their journey. Tutorials have been thoroughly revamped, offering even more in-depth training, tips, and an early opportunity to get stuck into a proper siege battle! Additionally, the heavy-hitting Maul is now available to wield from the very beginning, bringing the total starting weapon classes to 11.
Playing the game for the first time in Europe? Join the Empyros (EU4) server to start the fight on a level battlefield!
BLAZE THROUGH A NEW SEASONAL CAMPAIGN
Battle through time and flames as you embark on a new Seasonal Campaign packed with challenges and rewards. The fight will eventually culminate in the storming of Reginopolis, the capital of Anadolou and the future crown jewel of an almighty empire.
UNLEASH HELLFIRE WITH TWO NEW UNITS
Two new units can be unlocked via Unit Challenges over the course of Season V. These warriors wield weapons fuelled by hellfire, an incendiary liquid developed by alchemists in the Kingdom of Empyros. With the addition of the Zykalian Militia and Siphonarioi, you’ll have to adapt your battle strategies to attack with and defend against fire!
3-Star Zykalian Militia(Available Now): An effective defensive force armed with throwable, incendiary earthenware grenades. Their explosive nature provides a good deterrent to attackers when raining fire from the battlements during siege battles!
5-Star Siphonarioi (Available November 9):Empyrean sailors who wield handheld flamethrowers and wear full armour that protects them from the heat. They are widely dreaded, and since they are sworn to guard the secret of hellfire's composition, they will never be taken alive...
PROMOTE UNITS TO THE SYMMCHEAN BROTHERHOOD
Don’t leave your old guard by the wayside! You can promote select existing units to the prestigious ranks of the Symmachean Brotherhood. In their newly-revamped state, they’re even more formidable. Find out how to access them later in the season!
4-Star Symmachean Stalwarts (Available October 19):The Brotherhood’s spear infantry, drawn from the veteran ranks of Spear Sergeants. Stalwarts pride themselves on rising to any hardship, and are even more dangerous on the offence than as shield wall or blocking troops.
5-Star Symmachean Paladins (Available October 26):Knights from the myriad western orders of chivalry who answered the call of Empyros, promoted from the ranks of Men-at-Arms. A prideful and experienced force, Paladins represent the very flower of piety and chivalry, healing their brothers and allies on the field of battle.

Fight, rise through the ranks, and earn epic loot in Season V: Legacy of Fire! Get the Season V Battle Pass from MY.GAMES Market or Steam for access to 100+ levels of exclusive rewards. After a short stay in the beta branch last night, I think it's safe to bring build 1.0.3 over to the stable branch today. I like to keep things moving. There'll be a new beta out later tonight so watch out for that beta testers! :)
Hotfix 1.0.3:
-Prevent lift crash/stuck in lift build mode in unusual layout when half of the adjacent floor at right angles to entrance is not present. -Limit unknown crash to desktop when selling rooms -Prevent lift crash of unknown cause when rotating lift with no exit -Correct "end of line" achievement unlock. You may need to start a new game to do this, as the achievement is detected when you unlock the final item of tech. -Write turnstiles to grid on load to help prevent rare disappearing turnstile issue -Do not quit in start menu by pressing only f4, must be alt f4 -Corrected typo in general ad description in English -Corrected advert payout text to be in correct order -Do not award money earning achievements when unlimited money is enabled -Wheelie bin 3 tool tip is larger -Benches have a passable mask. Every so often I get a bug filed saying staff nav is broken when a diagonal line of benches have blocked the route to the room. Benches are now passable around the edges to match with their appearance. -update German language power description to say double power for lvl 2 generators
Welcome to Patch 3.3. Whilst not gargantuan in size or number of fixes, it is a precursor to some fun stuff coming very soon! No more waffle, on to the notes.
Patch 3.3
Added quick salvage button to gamepad UI.
Fixed 2 of the most common crashes.
Bots should now replenish ammo from Ammo Boxes with much more consistency.
Healing Potions should no longer be wasted if you're hit right at the moment the potion is consumed.
Bots now heal when they have Natural Bond if they are safe and wounded.
Patrols will now aggro in Lamp Oil Fire.
Blightstormers should be less prone to casting without Line of Sight. This wont stop them from casting and teleporting away, giving the appearance of a LOSless cast.
Fort Bongobadgers - moved two respawns slightly to fix issue where they connected to the wrong path.
Fort Brunchymunchies - Fixed a bunch of navigation issues experienced by Bot AI counterparts.
Fort Brandybutter - Fixed a conflict between Night Mod & Twitch Darkness event.
Fort Bringyourownbottle - Fixed a specific location where bots wouldn't revive the player.
Righteous Stand - Bots should no longer get stuck on the ladder leading to 2nd Grimoire.
Righteous Stand - The wall shot out by a canon should be network synchronised now, so players who hot join at that location will be able to continue.
Q. Will the tree of life return? Q. Won't Tree of Life be further developed? A. We're making a sequel of Tree of Life.
Q. Is the sneak peek about oddria or about tree of life? Q. Is the sneak peek the future tree of life? A. The game design is based on the Tree of Life. Engine, Actions, and some code are from Oddria.
Q. In the "sneak peek" will we have something like we had in the 2015 Tree of Life? A. Tree of Life in 2015 was the best Tree of Life we could ever think of. The new project is based on that version.
Q. We will have how many servers and for which regions. A. There will be around 10 official servers. Since the new project supports community servers (unofficial), the number of servers seems to be flexible depending on the number of players. About 100 players per server will be able to play the game simultaneously.
Q. Was it a sandbox game? A. Yes. It is a sandbox game with survival elements.
Q. Will this new project be focused on pvp or pve? A. Depending on the server, PVP and PVE rule sets can be selected. The PVP server will be similar to the 2015 Tree of Life. The PVE server will be suitable for players who want to explore the world alone.
Q. Will the bases be seen on the map as it is today in Tree of Life? A. In current version, the player's base is not displayed on the map.
Q. Will we have the faction system? A. No. There will be no faction system.
Q. Will we finally have the guitar in the game? A. Yes. The guitar finally includes the game content. Actually, I have a lot to say about the guitar... In short, I learned that it's not a good idea to postpone a patch to try something perfect. (Done is better than perfect. right?)
Q. Can we steal bases? A. You can steal bases in PVP Servers.
Q. Will we have guild hall again? A. There is no exact building called 'Guild Hall' in the game. However, if you want, you can create a guild hall through a new building system.
Q. Will the skills work in the game? A. Now you can level up to earn skill points and learn the skills you want. Learning a skill gives you new recipes or adds new actions and features to your character.
Q. Will we only have PVE skills? Q. Will we also have PVP skills that will work? A. The learned skills are designed to be used in various ways, both PVE and PVP.
Q. Will we finally have magic in the game? A. This time, the magic does not include the game.
Q. Will we finally have a monster village in the game? A. Yes. Monster village includes. You can get rewards by raiding monster villages.
Q. Will we have animal breeding in the game? A. That is not a high priority task, but we intend to implement it in the final version.

Q. Will we still have the auction in the game? A. Currently, there is no plan for the auction.
Q. Does the new project have a release date? A. I have a plan, but it seems a little too early to reveal it.
Q. Will we have item quality again as normal-rare-magical-legendary? A. There will be no item qualities.
Q. Will we have guilds in the game? A. We are planning that for the final version. For now, we are focusing on other features.
Q. I hope the durability of the items is longer as it was in 2015 !? A. We will make the item repairable.
Q. Will we have freedom again to build large bases? A. Whoever opens the server will be able to choose.
Q. Will we have this portal that we have never seen on TOL? A. Not exactly the same, but there are portals in the world.
Q. Will we have a test server to see this sneak peek? A. Yes. It will be revealed to the Tree of Life community first. The demo will be released quickly to hear community feedback.
Q. Does this new project have anything to do with this image? A. This image was used when the Tree of Life interface was rebuilt. The new project has nothing to do with this image.
Q. Is there any chance of this dynamic repeating again? A. Official servers may have a soft-wipe cycle(only buildings). But if you want, you can open a permanent Dedicated Server directly.
Q. YOU HAVE CHANGED THE CHANNEL NAME ON THE YOUTUBE OF TREE OF LIFE FOR ODDONEGAMES. IS IT A SIGN THAT THIS PROJECT WILL BURIAL THE TREE OF LIFE? A. No. Rather, it is the opposite. We had a lot of channels to manage, so we are integrating them because we think that it is more convenient to communicate with the community.
Q. Do you have any strategy to captivate players who do not believe and also do not trust Oddone because of its past? Why should we believe you again? A. I admit that our operations are out of date and not done right. Tree of Life was our first game, and we learned a lot while managing the game.
While developing Tree of Life, I thought it was my game because I made it at first.
However, with the game operation, the idea that the owner of the game belongs to the community who loves the game and spends time with it has solidified.
It is difficult to say to trust me at once. However, I hope that the trust will gradually recover as we manage in the future.

So AMA, are you going to ♥♥♥♥ this up too because i would rather just save my money if so A. We are regretting that. This time the PVP server and PVE server will be separated.
Q. Please change or improve Tree of Life's item looting. A. In the new game, items will be automatically acquired without pressing F.
Q. Please remove the Tree of Life's item grade. A. Item grades will be removed in new games. Depending on your skill, you will discover new recipes, and each region will drop unique resources rather than higher grades.
Q. Give each skill point something special. A. Each skill point is uniquely designed, making it fun to choose skills.
Q. Is it some kind of Tree of Life 2? I wish to get an mmorpg experience with some player based economy A. It's the official sequel of Tree of Life. The game title has not been confirmed yet.
Q. Has this project already been implemented in the game? A. The new project is not using the same engine as Tree of Life. This project is a completely standalone project and is still early, but we have a playable client.
Q. Engine? A. It's Unreal4.
Q. Tree of Life will return with news ''contents''? It the only game that really interests me. A. It would be nice to think of the new project as an improved or complete version of Tree of Life. Of course there is new content.
Q. As long as you don't learn to hear what your community is telling you, Odd should never develope any game again...and trying to use the engine for some sidekicks based on ToL is just a desperated try to get back on the train...if u really want a comeback: Make ToL great again! A. The new project will evolve while listening to the community. I will not repeat my last mistakes. thank you.
Q. Does new game let you run your own dedicated server? A. We will release Dedicated Server publicly. so that everyone can freely open their own server and customize detail rules.
Q. The items that we got in our "special inventory" will stay with here, too? (Bunny outfit, Adventurer pack bag... etc) A. The base technology is different between the new project and the Tree of Life. So the item will not be compatible. However, there will be a special rewards program for Tree of Life players.
Q. Why did you abandon your tree of life community and leave them with nothing? Q. Why did you destroy tree of life's community with updates the community didnt want? Q. Due to how you handled your prior game why do you think the community would even show an interest in coming back to a new game your developing? Q. Why did you go radio silent at the end not answering questions or even show concern about the game or its community toward the end? Q. Tree of life was an amazing game... alot of us loved it... in one update you destroyed the game... then in the second update you finished it off.. and this is while ignoring player feedback I have no intention of playing anything you make again cause you will just abandon like the other game... you did this to yourselves... you have ruined your own reputation A. When I started making Tree of Life, I was just a programmer and I was confident in programming. I was convinced that I could make the game well. When I released the first game I made (Tree of Life), I got overwhelmed by the unexpected popularity and fell into the artist's attention. That's why I made arbitrary decisions without listening to the community.
The goal of this project is to go back to the beginning and recreate the Tree of Life. However, there are differences from before. I try to value the opinions of the game community more than I have. Because the game is not owned by the developers, it is owned by the individual who likes and plays the game.
Tree of Life is a dream project for me, and I think I planned too many things, although I didn't have enough skills to complete that. In this project, I will throw away my greed and continue to fill the world.
I want to tell the community that I am sorry for coming too late. and, rather than just apologizing, I would like to gradually complete the plan I made at Tree of Life based on what I learned.
