As with most other physical conventions this year, BlizzCon 2020 is cancelled due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. Blizzard said that they wanted to take the con online but didn’t think they’d be able to squeeze it into this calendar year. They were right on that front, but you won’t be waiting until next November for the con to return. Honorary BlizzCon 2020 will now officially take place in February 2021, they’ve announced.

Nvidia have apologised for last week’s “frustrating” [cms-block] launch, stating that demand for their new flagship GPU was “overwhelming” and that “we were not prepared for this level [of enthusiasm], nor were our partners.” The apology was posted on their GeForce blog earlier today, answering community questions such as what the overall RTX 3080 stock situation is like at the moment, and why their own ‘Notify Me’ emails were so slow to being sent out. I’m still in the process of putting Crysis Remastered through its paces on PC, but if you want to see for yourself if your PC can indeed run Crytek’s revamped FPS classic, then you’ll be pleased to know the game has its own dedicated benchmarking tool. Here it is, your regularly scheduled Cyberpunk 2077 news courtesy of CD Projekt Red’s most recent Night City Wire. On Friday’s stream, senior quest designer Patrick K Mills said that the game’s story campaign will be shorter than The Witcher 3‘s because players complained about how long it took to finish Geralt’s adventure.

“We got a lot of complaints about The Witcher 3’s main story just being too long,” he said. “And looking at the metrics, you see tremendous amounts of people played through that game really far, but never made it to the end.”

Microsoft just announced they’ve bought ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda. The developers of games such as Skyrim, Fallout, Dishonored, Prey, Doom, Quake and all those classics are now technically Xbox Game Studios. Xbox boss Phil Spencer made a post welcoming the developers, in what he calls a “landmark step” for both Microsoft and Bethesda.

What a year.
