Update: Sony have now pulled the trailer and told Kotaku that Demon’s Souls is in fact not coming to PC and other consoles. “Human error” is to blame for that information being in the trailer, they say. WELP.>

Well, we’ve not heard anything new about the rumoured Bloodborne PC port I ache for, but tonight’s PlayStation 5 showcase did bring one FromSoftware surprise for us: the upcoming Demon’s Souls remaster will be released on PC too. Huh! Originally published by Sony for PlayStation 3 in 2009, this is the punishing fantasy murdergame which started FromSoft down their wonderful Souls-y path. I am mighty curious. Alrighty then, lads and germs: we have the starts of our next console generation confirmed. Sony tonight announced the PlayStation 5 will launch November 12th in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea, then November 19th for the rest of the world. That’s two days after the Xbox Series X, launching November 10th. The regular PS5 will cost £450/€500/$500 and it’s £360/€400/$400 for a ‘Digital Edition’ without a disc drive. This might not mean much to us on PC at first, unless you’re buying a PS5 too of course, but new consoles will have many consequences for us over years to come.

Time loop FPS Deathloop debuted a new trailer during today’s PlayStation 5 showcase to introduce a few of those assassination targets you’ll be setting out to put in the ground. Your protagonist Colt has eight total targets to deal with if he wants to break out of the time loop affecting Blackreef, an island broken up into districts a bit like Dunwall of Arkane’s previous Dishonored. The new trailer introduces two of the ill-fated targets.

After years of leaks and rumours, Warner Bros. today finally announced they’re making a Harry Potter open-world action-RPG set around the Hogwarts Boarding School For Magicians. A twist: Hogwarts Legacy is set at the school back in the 1800s, so we should see none of that pesky Potter boy. Coming next year, it’s being made by Avalanche Software, the studio behind Disney Infinity – not to be confused with the Just Cause and Mad Max gang at Avalanche Studios. Update from Alice0: Gematsu claim Square Enix PR have told them no, they haven’t confirmed a PC release, despite what the trailer on Sony’s stream said. One analyst claims it is coming to PC, but Sony told him it’s a ‘full exclusive’ on PS5 for six months and ‘console exclusive’ for a year. I’ve reached out to Squeenix PR myself for answers. Between this and Sony walking back the Demon’s Souls PC announcement, some big disappointments going round.>

Sony kicked off their latest games showcase stream with the announcement of the next Final Fantasy game and boy oh boy does Final Fantasy XVI look grim. It’s been announced as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive “not available on other platforms for a limited time after release on PS5” though they have confirmed it will also be available on PC. Fingers crossed that perhaps us PC folks will get a simultaneous launch with the PS5 edition, eh?

During today’s Facebook Connect developer conference, Facebook revealed the Oculus Quest 2 launch date and price along with information on a whole slew of games coming to the VR platform. Among them will be Oculus-exclusive Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell games and quite a few other VR games.

Fighting off the forces of the underworld may not be a stroll in the park but at least BPM: Bullets Per Minute lets you get down to the dirty business to the beat of some rockin’ tunes. As an Asgardian Valkyrie you jump, dash, and shoot to the beat of the music as do your hellish enemies. BPM is out now if slaying to the sound of music is your jam.

Facebook have confirmed that the Oculus Quest 2 will start from £299 / $299 when it launches on October 13th, which is a full £100 / $100 less than the original Quest. Sadly, the arrival of the Quest 2 also signals the death of our current favourite VR headset, the Rift S, as Facebook also announced they’ll be focusing on standalone VR headsets going forward, and that they will no longer pursue PC-only hardware. A sad day, indeed.

Fallout 76

has launched another update, this one bringing a bit of equality to Appalachia. The One Wasteland Update balances 76’s combat with the goal of easing news players into the game while making sure those mavericks over level 200 will still have some appropriate challenges. Along with level scaling, the new update kicks off Season 2 of the game’s S.C.O.R.E. reward track system.

One of the main reasons I’m not super into games like Crusader Kings 3 is that they’re based on proper history. I know, I know, how uncultured of me. What can I say? Magic and dragons in medieval settings just fire me up a bit more. That excuse won’t fly much longer, though, because some CK3 fans are making a mod inspired by the likes of Dragon Age, The Witcher, and Forgotten Realms.

The setting is called Anbennar, and it’s already become a popular Europa Universalis IV mod.
