As the studio’s next narrative thriller (and the first one they’re publishing themselves), Twin Mirror’s mind palace opens its doors to a supernatural investigation this December.

Annoyingly, I still can’t wallrun in real life – and it sure ain’t for lack of trying. Thankfully, Ghostrunner is swinging in with some real good vertical sprinting. Arriving on October 27th, One More Level’s dystopian dash n’ slasher is cutting heads and sliding down stylish cyberpunk buildings without so much as scuffing its knees.

Amnesia: Rebirth - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

With autumn coming next week, Halloween isn’t far behind, and so is the annual rush of horror games. The spooklords at Frictional Games today announced plans to release Amnesia: Rebirth, the next in their own horror series, right before Spookday – on October 20th. The last Amnesia game was made by Thechineseroom, but Frictional are back for this one and saying they want to make it “an emotionally harrowing journey”. Mate, after a year like this, I feel ready to take your best shot on the chin, and definitely not walk away from my PC declaring “Nope! No. No, thank you. But no.” Not this time.

A photo of the WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD.

Yesterday, it was Newegg in the US with the great WD SSD deals. Fall Guys

, evidently, did not have enough hammers in it. With a few weeks still to go before the game goes castle crashing into its next season, Mediatonic are bringing out the toolkit for a mid-season update. Today’s patch shakes up the bouncy battle royale with remixed levels and the irregular appearance of a colossal spectral mallet called “Big Yeetus”.

Paper Beast - Folded Edition - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

An animal parade in a Paper Beast screenshot.

I’ve not paid much attention to Paper Beast, the latest god game from Eric Chahi of From Dust fame, because it’s been confined to VR goggles. Something about exploring a weird world inside the Internet, discovering an ecosystem of digilife and using godlike powers to change the landscape? Sounds grand. I will now start paying attention, because developers Pixel Reef today announced they’re making a non-VR version. Paper Beast: Folded Edition is its name, and launching on October 20th is its game.

I can honestly tell you that Gods & Monsters never once made me think about Monster Energy drink, but the drinks company apparently thought otherwise. It’s come to light that Monster actually filed a legal opposition to Ubisoft’s Gods & Monsters trademark.

A couple of weeks ago, Ubi revealed they’d renamed the game to Immortals Fenyx Rising, citing creative reasons for the switch. That doesn’t seem to be the whole story, however, because the name change came shortly after this legal challenge was filed.

Spelunky 2 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Hip hip hooray, Spelunky 2 is out today! On PlayStation 4. Not on PC. We won’t get it on PC for another fortnight. But… this does mean you can now read reviews of the dungeon-diving platformer and watch other people play and all that, if you don’t mind first seeing its surprises through someone else’s eyes. Myself, I read the start of one review, enough to sustain my excitement, and will now avert my eyes until the 29th.
