Stark Industries has warped onto Fortnite's map, covering one corner of the battle royale's island.

Today's update, v14.10, brings with it a new boss (Tony Stark), more hero power-ups, new Galactus minions to defeat and quite a bit more.

We're now in the third week of this season's busy Marvel takeover, which has seen smaller map changes pop up every few days. Smaller areas themed around Ant-Man, Black Panther, The Collector and Trask Industries have all been warped onto the map - but Iron Man's home office is by far the biggest change yet.

Pirate game Skull & Bones has a new vision, Ubisoft has said - but don't expect a re-reveal until 2021.

Skull & Bones, which was announced three years ago at E3 2017, won't be at tonight's Ubisoft Forward event, creative director Elisabeth Pellen said in a blog post. We last saw gameplay in 2018.

So why the delay? "The answer is that we simply needed more time," Pellen said, before suggesting the game has gone through quite the transformation behind the scenes.

With Covid-19's devastating effects on travel, public movement, and basic physicality, video games have become a much-needed outlet for people to maintain a sense of connection and creativity. But while digital games and their platforms are surviving (and even thriving), other game subcultures are finding new challenges, particularly the world of alternate controllers, which often work with physical or hybrid games.

In 2013, Jess Marcotte had been designing games for less than half a year when they started a new project: a two-player game about a dangerous condition that can happen while scuba diving. Sometimes called "rapture of the deep," nitrogen narcosis happens when nitrogen builds up in the brain, causing confusion, poor judgment, and even euphoria. "Given that my coding skills were more limited at the time, I was able to use physical props to add complexity to the game instead," they recalled. The game required one player to wear scuba gear while playing tic-tac-toe with another person - a challenge when you're hampered by layers of bulky equipment.

"I think that first project showed me that there are a lot of effects that can't be reproduced digitally, or that can have more impact if they're physical," said Marcotte. "That's when I really became interested in what alt controls can do."

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Now Microsoft has formally announced Xbox Series X and S' 10th November arrival, publishers are finally free to put dates to the games coming to Microsoft's next-gen consoles; and now Sega, which had previously committed to releasing Yakuza: Like a Dragon as a Series X launch title, has taken the opportunity to confirm that means a 10th November release.

As for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which Sega slapped with a 13th November release date last month, the publisher hasn't indicated their previously announced launches have changed despite today's news (although I'm seeking further clarification), meaning they could still arrive a little after Xbox Series X and S.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon should make an excellent addition to Xbox Series X and S' launch day line-up, having already garnered plenty of praise on its original Japanese release at the start of the year. While the series' familiar blend of crime drama and comedic extracurricular activities remains intact for this latest instalment, there are big changes to the formula, going far beyond its new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga and its new Kamurocho setting.

Call of Duty®: Black Ops

Activision has revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's multiplayer, confirming a number of key changes compared to Black Ops 4 and indeed last year's Modern Warfare.

The highlight is the decision to ditch the specialists that proved so divisive in Black Ops 4. Specialists were unique soldier characters with special abilities and traits, which some players ended up hating because of the impact their powers could have on the battlefield.

Black Ops Cold War uses the operators model seen in Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare. These soldiers do not have unique abilities, although they are of course unique in terms of aesthetic.

Crusader Kings III

It all began with a single Reddit post. "You've probably been cucked," said user MadHopper in an ominous warning to fellow Crusader Kings 3 players last week. "Don't turn on debug mode unless you want to see some terrible truths."

The warning was related to a mystery that many Crusader Kings 3 players have now spent days trying to solve, the question being: why are there so many hidden bastards in the game? When MadHopper hovered over his children in the game's debug mode, he discovered all but two of his 10 kids had been secretly fathered by someone else. "That's when I moused over myself: turns out my father was cucked too," MadHopper added. "My house is effectively no longer descended from its founder at all."

The revelation alarmed players who wanted to ensure their playthrough followed family lines, and who were disturbed by the idea all their supposedly legitimate children had actually been fathered by someone else. "Out of all the wives my characters had I believe it was just one that didn't produce any bastards or children with disputed heritage - the homosexual one," Alastor wrote on the Paradox forums. "I mean I know this is the middle ages and everyone was having wacky sex with everyone all the time, but still this is a bit much."

Gears Tactics is an Xbox Series X and S launch title, Microsoft has announced.

It's also coming to Xbox One on that date.

Splash Damage's XCOM in the Gears universe strategy game launched on PC back in April. "A competent tactical retooling of the Gears formula, even if the execution isn't always spot-on," Chris Bratt wrote in Eurogamer's Gears Tactics review.

Starting later this year, an EA Play membership comes with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Game Pass for PC at no extra cost, Microsoft has announced.

This means Ultimate members get EA Play (formerly known as EA Access and Origin Access) on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Windows 10 PCs, while Game Pass for PC members get EA Play on Windows 10.

EA Play includes more than 60 EA games, such as FIFA 20, Titanfall 2 and Need for Speed Heat, as well as some of the Battlefield, Mass Effect, Skate and The Sims games. Microsoft said some of the EA Play games will also be available for Ultimate members to play on Android devices from the cloud at no additional cost.

Assassin's Creed 2

The release date for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has been brought forward by one week to 10th November 2020, aligning its launch with the now-confirmed arrival of Microsoft's next-generation Xbox Series S and X machines.

Ubisoft's Viking-set blockbuster was previously due to arrive on 17th November.

This new launch date applies to all available platforms: PC (via Epic and Uplay), PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. Valhalla will also launch on PlayStation 5 "upon the launch of the console", Ubisoft says, which rather suggests it will launch later.
