astounds me. It astounds me because it is bottomless. I mine materials for hours, finally smelt some armour, then the developer saunters over and refills my glass. Just when I think I’m done for the evening, another one slides across the table. Oh, go on then.

Sundays are for trying to do anything other than play Picross on Switch. But then, every day is a struggle when there are Picross levels still to complete. Quick, let’s round up some of the week’s best writing about videogames, before I disappear into a fugue of drawing tiny pictures.

At Vice, Colin Spacetwinks argues that Disco Elysium was too afraid of sincerity to be revolutionary. I don’t wholly agree with the title of the article, but there’s good analysis inside. Beware: lots of spoilers for the whole game, including the ending.

While no new game’s been formally announced, this week Crunchyroll and Adult Swim announced an animated adaptation of the slow-burn revenge quest.

They’re meant to be a great help for improving your game, but it seems some sneaky Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams have taken that to mean peeking where they’re not allowed during high-stakes competitive games. Now, the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) is raking through years of demos to find these meddlesome cameramen, with the suggestion that they might go easy on folks who own up to their crimes.

Sorry, Twitch Sings. We’ve had a good night of belting the classics, but we’ve all had a few and our throats have all gone a little hoarse – it’s time to call it a day. After a year and a half, Twitch is raising the curtain on their sing-a-long streaming platform next January to focus on “broader tools and services” for music on the site.
