Next week will bring the start of PAX Online x EGX Digital, a crossover team-up buddy cop event which we’ll be taking part in. I am privy to some of the plans, and they are good plans. Rest now, because soon we’ll be in nine days of streams. Nine days of streams? Oh yes, nine days of streams.

What are you playing this weekend? Here’s what we’re clicking on!

At this rate, Ubisoft won’t get to reveal anything about their open-world Greek mythology game themselves. The new name Immortals Fenyx Rising (formerly known as Gods & Monsters) was revealed by the Taiwan ratings committee earlier this week. Now Microsoft have gone and dished what might be the release date in a prematurely-posted store page. If this new leak is to be believed, Fenyx Rising will launch on December 3rd, 2020.

Destiny 2 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

This is the final weekend of Destiny 2‘s Solstice Of Heroes, an annual summer event which celebrates how great we are by levitating a slice of city into the sky to host a special event mode. This European Aerial Zone is a fantastic level, full of pathways bouncing across rooftops and burrowing deep into labyrinthine buildings – a type of space we don’t see much in Destiny. I gushed about the EAZ last year and feel the same now but god, this wonderful space is still wasted on a humdrum event mode.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Lab Zero Games, the studio behind Indivisible and Skullgirls, have laid off many of their remaining employees. Some claim that everyone is gone and that severance pay was not sorted. This comes the week after a number of key employees publicly announced their resignation, with some accusing studio owner Mike Zaimont of inappropriate behaviour and saying the company had tried to get him to leave but failed.

The Sims™ 4 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice Bell)

A promo screenshot for Game Pack The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey To Batuu. A Sim is training with a blue lightsaber, in her home full of Star Wars decorations, while a toddler watches. It seems unsafe. The Sims 4

is once again courting (mild, predictable) controversy, this time because of the upcoming Star Wars(TM) Journey To Batuu game pack. The DLC itself doesn’t arrive for another few days (coming to stores near you on Tuesday the 8th), but Simfluencers like Plumbella have posted preview impressions of it that aren’t glowing.

This has not improved the mood of a vocal section of Sims fans, who were already unenthusiastic about Journey To Batuu on the basis that they didn’t want it as much as they wanted something else. EA clearly felt the situation had reached some kind of crisis point, because a statement has been put out addressing the “community feedback” the developers have received. Sims players being annoyed at The Sims 4 is frankly pretty business as usual; EA actually responding to it is less so.
