Three-way mega-battle FPS MMO PlanetSide 2 is about to unveil another big update. The Shattered Warpgate will introduce hazardous storms to one of its maps and some new equipment, but most importantly, a campaign.
Its big update back in March, Escalation, bought thousands of players back, but where that was focused largely on organised groups of experienced players, Rogue Games’ Andy Sites declared that “our goal for The Shattered Warpgate was to improve the experience for a much broader audience”. Central to that goal is a series of campaign missions, and a host of smaller side quests that will reward more of PlanetSide’s many playstyles, even if all you’re interested in is driving around for a while.
has kicked off, though of course it’s not exactly taking place in a crowded hall in Germany this year. The Indie Arena booth has adapted somewhat like other virtual offerings the A Maze festival and Devolverland Expo from earlier in the FakE3 summer. The Indie Arena is now a quite neat browser MMO where you can check out trailers and demos for a huge harvest of 185 indie games while walking around the colorful virtual show floor.
Intel are holding their annual Gamer Days deals bonanza at the moment, and there are buckets of savings to be had on all manner of Intel-based desktops, laptops and processors. Running from now until September 6th, I’m still working my way through all the many hundreds of deals on offer, but this one from Newegg immediately caught my eye. It’s an Intel Core i7-10700K and RTX 2060 Super desktop PC from ABS, and it’s currently got a whopping $800 shaved off its price to take it down to a very agreeable $1300. That’s a saving of 38%.
That’s not all, either, as there are also savings to be had on individual processors as well, plus lots of CPU and motherboard combo deals. Read on for the best of the bunch.
InXile Entertainment’s latest adventure in the post-apocalyptic lands of the USA, Wasteland 3, came out today, bringing with it a big bizarre statue of a robo-Ronald Reagan. The RPG will have you fill the boots of a lone Ranger, tasked with reestablishing society in the wastes of Colorado. It’s a bit like old school Fallout, what with being a story-driven RPG full of turn-based tactical shoot-outs. It’s worth noting that the original Wasteland inspired the original Fallout games, which have in-turn inspired the new Wasteland games. Ah, the circle of life.
The deals train is in full swing today, as Gamesplanet are also holding a big Gamescom sale this weekend. The biggest deals are on a bunch of Bethesda games, with a massive 50% off Doom Eternal and Fallout 76, as well as flash deals on loads more. Alas, the Bethesda deals are only available to those buying in Europe (which thankfully still includes the UK), but there’s still plenty of other game bargains to sink your teeth into if your current place of residence is elsewhere. Read on for my pick of the bunch.
Two different illicit gig economy experiences are yours for free this week on the Epic Games Store, which is currently giving away 2016’s stealth assassination game Hitman and a collection of the Shadowrun cyberpunk fantasy RPGs. Sure, basically you’re being paid to kill and rob people in both, but you’ll go about it in different ways.

Below is a list of ‘33 things wot are for sale on the eBay’. Entries have been stripped of vowels and had any inter-word spaces repositioned*. For example, if yoga mat was present it might appear as YGM T. Euphonium would be PHNM.

As August draws to a close, it can only mean one thing. Summer is officially over, and Autumn is on its way – and Humble are holding an End of Summer Sale to celebrate. Running from now until September 10th, Humble have sliced up to 90% off loads of games, and there are literally dozens upon hundreds of thousands to choose from. Here are some of my highlights below.
The first strategy adaptation of Games Workshop’s Age Of Sigmar is coming next year. Developed by Gasket Games, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Storm Ground will put players in charge of fantasy forces fighting turn-based tactical battles. The announcement trailer from Gamescom Opening Light Live didn’t reveal too much, but it did show some golden shiny lads riding dragons, which was pretty cool.
