A Tuwai Temtem in the wild

While you’re given this Temtem at the very start of the game, there’s more to Tuwai than meets the eye. If you’re familiar with Pokémon, you’ll know that Eevee can evolve into multiple different forms. Tuwai is the same, but the steps involved are a little more complicated than it would initially seem.

A space capsule descends between two balls of light, surrounded by huge basalt pillars, all in space

Mega spacejerk MMO Eve Online has received a permanent cemetery installation. The site in Molea is intended partly for roleplaying purposes, but more as a space for players to pay their respects to the people they’ve lost in real life.

EGX and PAX will not be physical events this year, replaced by a nine-day joint stream which you could take part in. Submissions for panels, talks, presentations, and other sorts of sessions are currently open for both PAX Online and EGX Digital, which will run concurrently in September as PAX Online x EGX Digital, like some kind of hot collabo or fierce showdown. Making something good to show off? Got something good to talk about? Maybe an idea for something funny? The organisers, our corporate uncles, want to hear from you.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Online - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Imogen Beckhelling)

Square Enix have revealed that Final Fantasy XIV’s next major update will put all the content from the Realm Reborn questline, as well the entire Heavensward expansion in the game’s free trial. That’s like, hundreds of hours of Final Fantasy goodness. It’s part of the upcoming patch 5.3, which is heading to the MMORPG on August 11th. There’s plenty in there for players who’ve bought the game, too – like the finale of the Shadowbringers storyline, and the next part of the NieR-themed raid series.

Master Ian Chief in a crop of Halo Infinite's box art.

NotE3 wraps up today with Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase stream, starting at 5pm (9am Pacific). Microsoft have said this stream would focus on games made by their own studios, though I suppose some surprises could creep in. And don’t be thrown by the name: all the Xbox games are PC games too these days. They’ve said that the stream will include “the first look at the Halo Infinite campaign” but beyond that, we can only guess. So let’s.

A gorgeously hand drawn side view of a strange building's interior. A man stands under a cieling light, gloating at an angry metallic dog.

“Oh this is easy”, I thought, adding a few more moments to the endless mistake I began several decades back, “it’s kind of telling me everything I need to do anyway.”

Creaks is a platform-based puzzle game. I thought I was not particularly good at puzzle games. I am in fact hopeless at them. I am a fool, a dunce, an entire bowl. It has stumped me in a time so short I am ashamed to divulge it.

It’s still pretty good though.

Here we go again. Fighting over scraps of Dragon Age 4 news like corrupted templars desperate to snag the last drop of red lyrium. The last titbits we got were pretty good, to be fair. Those pretty scenes from the EA Play event gave plenty to speculate on for a while. But there’s a new tiny morsel of info now, this time coming from BioWare executive producer, Mark Darrah, who took to Twitter to explain that they’re working from home and they’re “making progress”.

Sonic Adventure 2

Sonic Adventure 2

is more of a footnote in the Sonic series history these days, but back in 2001 it was an event. Sega wanted to make a big deal out of the fact their hedgehog had reached 10 years old. There was a demo CD bundled with Phantasy Star Online. Sonic Adventure 2 even had a worldwide release – a rarity in the early 2000s.
