I Am Dead - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

There are perks to being dead, it turns out. You can talk to your dog who is also dead, talk to other ghosts, and look inside just about anything to take a peek at what’s hidden within. Hollow Ponds gave folks a look inside I Am Dead, explaining how recently deceased museum curator Morris Lupton and his dog Sparky will save the Shelmerston with their new ghost powers.

An image of Death Stranding on an ultrawide gaming monitorDeath Stranding

has had several lovely upgrades for its PC release, including uncapped frame rates, 4K resolution support and Nvidia’s DLSS 2.0 tech. But the one I’ve been most looking forward to trying out is its 21:9 ultrawide monitor support. After all, Death Stranding is effectively Beautiful Landscape: The Game in addition to being a surprisingly engrossing postman sim, and seeing its huge, expansive vistas in all their ultrawide and post-apocalyptic glory has definitely enhanced my overall enjoyment of it. Here’s a quick tour of what it looks like, how it works, and why it’s one of the best ultrawide PC games you can play today – even if Kojima has pulled a fast one on its actual resolution support.

A screenshot of character art for Cyberpunk 2077, showing a female 'corpo' V in a red and black suit, smoking and looking all cool

When Video Matthew, Brendy (RPS in peace) and I discussed the very first Cyberpunk 2077 demo, way back in 2018, Brendy made fun of Matthew and I for being suits. We said we’d be interested in finishing the game, a massive first-person sci-fi RPG from the people who brought you The Witcher 3, as a big corporate sellout.

Well, the joke is very much on Brendy, a) because he broke his collarbone and I bet corpo money would be able to buy you a cyber-collarbone that turns into a gun, and b) because CD Projekt have revealed all three of the “lifepaths” available in Cyberpunk 2077. And, like, obviously the corpo V is the coolest one? Sorry, I don’t make the rules, we are all sellouts now.

Riot Games might be adding a replay system to their free-to-play tactical shooter, Valorant, so at some point you may be able to rewatch all your sick plays. Replay systems are so useful, not just for the cool strats, but for watching matches you’ve played from various perspectives and assessing how you play if you’re trying to improve. They’re also very satisfying to use to dunk on friends who say things like, “I was covering you!”, providing you with video evidence to prove that they were, in fact, not doing that.

Untitled Goose Game - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

The playful piano of Untitled Goose Game will be inscribed in plastic, creating a physical record of the goose’s havoc. To hear the piano is to know the crimes it accompanied. The merchmasters at Iam8bit today announced that the soundtrack’s vinyl release will launch on September 29th, and that it has a clever little trick. Just as the game’s soundtrack is different every time, the physical pressing is on a dual-groove record, so two different versions are on the same side and you won’t know which it will play until you start it rolling on those wheels of steel.

Yarntown

sounds like a really lovely time. Hearing just the name, I’d think of an adorable little village filled with houses made from yarn, held together with knitting needles. It’s very much not that, however, it’s actually a cutesy 16-bit version of FromSoftware’s PS4 exclusive, Bloodborne, made by Max Mraz. It’s an impressive feat, too – Max has recreated Bloodborne’s very first area, Central Yharnam, in excellent detail, right down to the area’s big bosses.

Here’s me getting my ass whooped by the Cleric Beast:
