Rust - holmzy
Surfs Up

The Sunburn DLC is our second premium DLC for Rust, including 15 new summer themed items for you to enjoy with your team. Gear up in some swimwear, take to the seas, relax by the pool, get into a water fight and take some photos to remember the summer!

Just like the Instruments DLC everything included in this pack (except for the custom underwear) can be used by anyone, even if they haven't purchased the DLC. Make sure to craft some tubes for your friends!

Custom Underwear

We've added the ability for you to change your underwear as part of this update so you can swap out those grungy undies with some bright summer styles. You'll notice a new icon next to your player avatar in the Inventory where you can select from the available options. This works a little differently from normal items as it's not something you have to equip or craft, and your choice of underwear will be remembered when you die.

There are 4 different styles to choose from with Male and Female versions of each.

Boogie Board and Inner Tube

The Boogie Board and Inner Tube are two new deployable vehicles that let you take to the ocean in style. Pop one down in any body of water and you can paddle around to your heart's content.

The Inner Tube is a bit slower but can turn easily, while the Boogie Board is built for speed but can't turn as well. You can also equip items while on an Inner Tube, so feel free to shoot your team mates with a water gun while catching some waves. The Boogie Board has 7 visual styles while the Inner Tube has 8 styles.

Paddling Pool

Once filled up, the Paddling Pool acts as a water source for your Boogie Board and Inner Tubes. Includes 5 different styles.

Above Ground Pool

The Above Ground Pool is a massive pool with plenty of space for aquatic activities. As well as including a large pool, it also includes a deck area where you can deploy other props like chairs, instruments and turrets.

Beach Towel

The Beach Towel is a new item that acts as a respawn point. While it works really well on the beach and by the pool, it will work anywhere you can use a Sleeping Bag. Comes in 8 styles so you can stand out on the beach.

Beach Recliner, Parasol and Table

This furniture set includes three separate props to style your above ground pool. The Recliner is a large chair where you can kick back and relax, the Parasol is a large umbrella that reduces the temperature for any players underneath it, and the Table is a small surface that goes well with the rest of the furniture. The Parasol and Recliner have 8 different colour schemes to pick from.

Sunglasses

Shield your eyes from the hot sun with the new equippable Sunglasses. Provides no protection, but they look really cool. Includes 9 different styles so you can really express yourself.

Instant Camera

Snap photos of your summer fun with the Ontara Pro instant camera. You can write messages onto the photos and share them with others like notes. Each camera can take up to 30 photos.

The camera has a zoom feature which can be adjusted by dragging with the right mouse button pressed. It can also switch between infinite, auto, or manual focus using the reload button. Manual focus can be adjusted with shift+right mouse drag.

Photo Frames

You can place your photos into these new deployable photo frames to show them off to the world. Hold E on them to access its inventory and swap the photos out. You can also paint over the frame like signs!

Water Guns

Water fights - to the death!

Grab a water gun, fill it up from a water source and go on a splashing spree!

Soak your mates or enemies (as long as they have a water gun equipped, too) enough and they'll start to take water damage.

The water pistol has a low output and range, but doesn't require pumping. The larger water gun has increased range and output but will need pumping to maintain its extended range. The large gun comes in 5 colours for easy friend and foe identification.

- Multiple Localization fixes: Updated text strings as well as UI layout adjustments.
- We fixed an issue that caused some medals to become distorted when acquired.
- We fixed an issue that blocked currency rewards from showing in the challenge’s menu.

- We fixed an issue that caused players to be removed from gameplay during Steam maintenance.

Please keep in mind that we are continuing to work on addressing other bugs that are being reported from the community, we really do value the feedback that you all have given us. 🙏

Murderwave: Digital Slaughter - aaagamer
Hello everyone, since I wanted to post updates about the game more frequently, I'm going to try out weekly or bi-weekly development blogs.

I've worked on a lot over the last week, so I'll break it down into categories and touch on each one briefly.
Enemy Behavior
While there are several new enemy types I want to add in the future, right now I'm working on perfecting the simplest enemy type, the Cyber Freak. This is one of the most common, and weakest enemies. Their strategy is simply to move to your position and melee attack you. This kind of simple behavior is fine for this type of enemy, but I want to introduce a little more complexity in the hopes that fighting them will be more dynamic and fun. To that end, I started working on a behavior for the CF that gives them a chance to attempt to dodge out of the way of the player's crosshairs. It's going to take some fine tuning so make sure it's fun and not annoying though.

I've also been working on the way CF actually inflicts damage on the player, previously it was pretty janky and not exactly clear when the player was being attacked, and what exactly inflicted damage on them. I've worked out how to make sure damage is actually synced with an attack animation, which not only provides a more consistent experience, but actually gives you an opportunity to dodge an enemy's melee attack.

Visuals
I like the overall aesthetic of the game, the color palette, etc. But I've been wanting to push it a little further stylistically. Now that I'm more experienced with 3D modeling and texturing, I think I'll be able to get more visual interest out of the environments, while keeping the same overall color scheme and feel. Previously the game used a solid color skybox, which was the same for most of the levels. I've been working on a few simple color-band skyboxes which I think look a lot more interesting.

I've also been adding computer circuitry themed elements to the environments, which I'm hoping will tie in with the cheesy vintage digital theme of the game.

Right now, the gas station level is the only level being redone, once it is complete, and most of the game features have been brought up to spec, I'll begin remaking some of the older levels and making entirely new ones.

Performance
I've done a lot to improve performance over the last week, such as re-making models and including proper Level-Of-Detail (LOD) models for enemies and other props on each level. For those not familiar with the concept, LOD models are lower detailed models that replace higher detailed ones as you move further away, saving on performance. Better use of the Unity materials system and more efficient use of resources in general has lead to major performance increases all around. The game should no longer struggle when several enemies are on screen at once, which was really annoying before.

Story
I've been writing up a story to give context to your actions in the game, and better inform the design of the world of the game. I don't want to give much away right now, but I want to experiment with unlocking levels sequentially and give a story context to each of them, like a campaign mode. It's also a fun opportunity to introduce some characters into the game and give it some more personality.

More to come
I haven't touched on everything here, I've also been working on a new main menu and improved options menu, improved audio, and a total re-balance of the gameplay, but I'll go more in depth to each of those areas in a later update. While the version of the game I've been working on is not really playable right now, I will probably release it into an experimental beta branch of the game in a few weeks when it is closer to the current version of the game in terms of content. This way people can see first hand what I've been working on and how it's coming together.

Thanks for reading this devblog and for supporting the game. If you haven't already, please share your thoughts, questions, suggestions, etc. on our community discord channel
Space Impossible - rexspaceman
Hi everyone. We hope everyone is having a nice summer so far despite all the craziness shaping up this year. BETA 5 development is well under way, but will be taking longer than BETA 4, so we're putting together this news post.

Here's what's being worked on:

New weapon types
One of the core game elements of Space Impossible is combat. We have already come a long way from Prototype's single laser, but there is still more room to grow. BETA 5 will see the addition of:

Reflecting Cannon
A beam weapon that will reflect off its target tile, bouncing up to four times

Plasma Launcher
A weapon that shoots projectiles that does energy damage and does not require ammo like existing torpedoes

Point Defense Laser
A close range anti missile defense weapon, when activated it will detect and auto fire on the closest projectile.

Graviton Beam
An energy weapon that actively pulls the target towards the firing vessel. It is different from the Tractor Beam as the Tractor Beam's range between shooter and target is fixed length once attached.

Rail Gun
Often asked for by you the players, the Rail Gun is a heavy damage, fixed angle weapon that has no moveable arc, and no activation angle either.

Drag Field Projectile
This projectile when it detonates creates a localized field that slows all movement through it. Great for preventing a target's escape or allowing your escape from pursuers.

Repair Beam
A heavy duty, full sized version of the space suit's repair weapon.

New Faction
Additionally, we are adding in a new faction, Madd's Marauders. Madd's will be a mercenary faction, incapable of owning and possessing star systems, but showing up based on events in game, as we continue to build and expand our spawning algorithms. It will also feature the first unique spawn, Madd himself, who can only appear once per universe at any given time. He will have some distinct inventory that will be unique to him. He is the first of what will be several "boss" like unique spawns that will be expanded on in the future.

Once these are done, we will take a week or two to update the AI to be able to equip and use these new systems and elements. As usual, the Pre-Release will come during that time, and the release build shortly after. Stay cool out there!

Note: Due to a technical issue, some of the balanced cards won’t have their corresponding visual effects on this update, but we’ll fix it for next time.

Next week we'll start discussing the design of the upcoming Ranked Mode on our Discord Community. Make sure to join us to stay tuned and share your feedback with us. Let's keep creating Causa together!

Soda Dungeon 2 - anpShawn
We're proud to announce that Soda Dungeon 2 is now available for Steam (WIN+OSX) and mobile! We want to give a heartfelt thanks to all the users that have helped us during our testing phases, as well as those of you that have just been patiently waiting for news. We have a ton of updates planned for the game and will be looking to start on new content as soon as possible. Please leave us a review or comment with your thoughts on the game, we'd love to hear it!

We're also excited that we're able to launch the game in six different languages: English, French, German, Russian, Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese. Localization is no small task but luckily we learned some lessons from Soda Dungeon 1 that made this process easier. The big one was to make sure we avoided placing any text into images, because then you need to export unique translated copies of each image for as many languages as you support. This was a pretty big headache in Soda Dungeon 1 when we decided to retrofit the game with additional language support.

That being said, localization always carries challenges with it no matter how much prep work you do. We ended up needing just under 3000 lines of text localized. Text adds up quick when you need to translate the same words in different contexts. We work with an outside team to handle this, and part of the process is being able to preserve the meaning of names, expressions, and unique language constructs. Sometimes a joke in English just doesn't make any sense in another language, so the translator must find a way to convey it as best as they can. Sometimes it's as simple as a word in English functioning as both a verb and an adjective. In the game we have a quests menu that has two tabs: Active and Complete. Here the word "complete" means "quests that have been completed" but when viewed as a word by itself in a text file, it's easy to assume the verb form was intended, such as "you need to complete this task." The localization team sends us back a list of notes so we can clarify issues like this. My favorite exchange was probably a line of dialogue in which a character refers to progress in the game as "big juicy numbers." The translator was a little puzzled by this and just asked "...what does this mean?"

Anyway, If you'd like to join the conversation or just say hello, please stop by our Discord server or Reddit!

Ymir - Ronchiporc

As a small side project, I've decided to launch an experiment by introducing the Hog coin: an Ymir community token that can be interacted with through a Discord Bot i created called "The Hogbank".

Every Discord user will be able to own and transfer Hogs through the Hogbank, but not only. For those who know what Ethereum is, the Hog coin is actually an ERC20 token that can be withdrawn or deposited to the Hogbank at any time.
This means Hogs actually exist on an independent and decentralized network outside the Ymir Discord and that players can also store the coins and exchange them at their own discretion independently of the Hogbank and benefit from all the existing tools of the Ethereum ecosystem. Yes, it is gloriously useless and nerdy!
If you don't know what Ethereum is you you'll be able to simply use the Hogbank without having to worry about any of this.

So what is the point of all of this?
Absolutely nothing, at least for now.
Hogs will just be an item to measure your game achievements and your participation in the Ymir community.
However the introduction of Hogs is an experimental first step for a long term plan i have in mind that will aim toward multiple important goals:
- incentivizing players to stay active until the endgame and to win the servers.
- incentivizing players to be more committed to their spawns to reduce server hopping and players giving up as soon as they don't get optimal starting conditions.
- further incentivizing players to join ongoing servers in need of new players.
- giving players meta-game objectives and progression by unlocking new cosmetic content.

How will you earn Hogs?
For now Hogs will only be distributed manually by myself.
The principal way to earn Hogs will be to win Official Server games.
- From now on, the Nation leader of the winning nation of any Official Server will be manually awarded 50 hogs upon claiming his prize on this Discord and confirming his ingame identity.
The redistribution of this loot will be left at his entire discretion, so you better join a Nation with a Leader you can trust! Polish your daggers and get ready for some fun backstabbing :)...
- Hogs will also be given to reward general participation in the Ymir Discord community.
- Hogs can be earned as a bounty for reporting any new game-breaking exploit or cheats in multiplayer games.
- Hogs being an Ethereum token, they may also be stored, traded, and exchanged outside the Hogbank at the own discretion of its owners.

What is the Hogbank?
So the way to interact with Hogs will be through the Hogbank, a bot i made that will be introduced in the Ymir Discord.
By talking to this bot, you can do 4 operations: get your current Hog balance, transfer it to other Discord users, withdraw it outside of the discord to an Ethereum wallet, and deposit it back from an Ethereum wallet.

To conclude...
Like everything in this game, this is highly experimental and motivated mostly by curiosity to see what happens.
Because i had to learn a lot of new things for this small side project, its potentially (probably) going to be buggy and the Hog rewards will start low until the system is more tested.
If this is successful then it can later on be integrated more with the game itself, and developed with more features. As of now its just the bare minimum and manually managed for simplicity.
Also, in case it needs saying: don't take Hogs too seriously! Remember these are totally useless vanity tokens, and that in the end its all just a game.
