Maxime Béland, vice president of Ubisoft’s Editorial department, has resigned following allegations that he assaulted a female employee while he was creative director at Ubisoft Toronto. Ubisoft’s Editorial team oversee a vision and overall direction for the company’s games. Béland was one of the people named during the recent weeks of public sexual harassment and abuse accusations against Ubisoft employees as well as across the industry. In response, Ubisoft last week vowed to make “fundamental changes” to improve.

Over the past few weeks, the developers of the excellent metroidvania Hollow Knight have been revealing new characters that players will meet in the upcoming sequel, Silksong. To uncover these NPCs, fans have had to answer riddles, and so far, we’ve seen the rather creepy Huntress and the sneak-thief Grindle. Last night, however, a new challenger approached. Meet Seth, an ancient guardian of a place called the Citadel, who was designed with and named after a young person who recently passed away.

VINDICATION. That’s what Hardspace: Shipbreaker says to me. I have hinted several times that salvage is grossly under-represented in games. And now here’s a game all about it, and it as excellent as I’d hoped.

Despite being an estimate year from release, Hardspace Colon Shipbreaker already gets a lot of things right. But my favourite thing about it is one I didn’t even expect to feel so good: peeling the armour off a ship.

If Stardew Valley were a flower it would be a perennial, constantly coming back each year with new blooms. Not long after releasing the massive 1.4 update that left a mark on every part of the game, developer ConcernedApe announced that he’d be working on yet another free content update. Over four years on, he’s still got plans for new additions, which will include some endgame content for update 1.5 he says.

Ubisoft’s big not-E3 showcase is scheduled for this Sunday, July 12th where they’ll be showing off new gameplay and trailers for upcoming games. As part of the event, they’re also letting you claim a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 for PC, though you’ll have to be fast. You need to grab it while the show’s live, meaning you’ll have about a 45 minute window to make those dogs yours.
