The stylish turn-based tactical action of Othercide is coming on July 28th, publishers Focus Home Interactive have announced. That’s the post-Apocalyptic one about fighting demon-y beasties with an army of ‘Daughters’, female warriors who wear flowing scarves and strike cool poses. Lots of talk about suffering. Bit of blood magic, maybe. And sacrifice, definitely. It’s a hearty slap of mood, though I’ve not yet seen much of how it plays.

Monster Train is a game about chuffing through the hills and vales of Hell while mincing up angels with your demonic fiends, angry plants and waxen gentry folk. As Matt has declared, it’s extremely good, and one of the things that I love about it is the way it escalates>. That train ride you’re on is a wild, careening one into multiplying attack and defence.

The result is a sense of soaring power. And the coal that fuels that engine is the fact you can upgrade your cards, giving them buffs and boosts that often feel like you’re breaking the game. Monster Train’s upgrades are great. (more…)

One of the last things I expected to do in Samorost 3 was have an impromptu jam session with a singing frog hippo, bopping lizard ferret and tooting fish fox. Apparently they like busting out some tunes when the fuzzy bee bums on the nearby reeds are arranged at specific heights, and they really> get into the groove when you start dancing alongside them. It remains one of the strangest, but ultimately most satisfying puzzles in the entire game, and I’m glad I got to witness it before they promptly fell asleep again, those lazy sods.

The overhaul for Minecraft‘s underworld is almost here. Mojang have been throwing out new information about the changes coming to The Nether for a while now and you’ll get to check it out for yourself before the month ends. The Nether Update launches on June 23rd for both the Windows 10 and Java editions of Minecraft.

The sequel to the British gentleman explore ’em up is now out in early access. According to the developer commentary during their date announcement, Curious Expedition 2 sounds to be a much bigger conquest to tackle than the original. New art, new combat, more storytelling, and new exploration clubs are just some of the big changes that Maschinen-Mensch are making in the sequel.

Ah is it that time of the month already? Rare have updated their seafaring pirate ’em up and as usual there are new things that can kill you. The Haunted Shores update for Sea Of Thieves adds fleets of spooky ghost ships directed by big bad Captain Flameheart. They’ve made updates to the non-verbal callouts system and, important for yours truly, a radial picker for playing tunes on your instruments.

At this point, I imagine anyone planning to travel to Seattle or Melbourne for the Penny Arcade Expo in September was anticipating a change in schedule. Almost every physical game event this year has been changed, delayed, or gone online due to the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic. PAX West and Australia are no exception. Both are being cancelled and replaced with a free, nine day event called PAX Online this September.

Red Dead Online

cheaters get up to all sorts of mischief by summoning various NPCs from the game data into the world. As only one of oh so many examples, there was a spree of two-headed skeleton attacks several months ago. Mischief becomes more malign when they, say, summon white-robed KKK members to attack other players. So of course they’re doing that. Rockstar say they have removed the ability for these character models to be summoned in Red Dead Online.
