In my eyes, Bugsnax is possibly the strangest game to come out of PlayStation’s big announce-a-thon live stream last night. Made by Octodad creators, Young Horses, it’s a story-driven adventure game about an island (appropriately named Snaktooth) where all the creatures are half-bug, half-snack, and if you eat them your limbs will start to turn into various foods. It looks as weird as it sounds and I still don’t know what to think of the trailer, check it out for yourself below:

Howdy pardner. Spittoon? Take it, we got a whole crate of them right here. Every god-fearing outlaw needs a good spittoon at their heels, as my grandmammy used to say. Hoo-wee, what a women. She was known to enjoy a strong snifter of list article, you know. Everyone who visited got a spittoon and a list article. And vidyagames be damned if I ain’t the same obliging sort as my grammy, yes sir. So here you go, friend. In anticipation of that there Desperados III, here are the 9 most desperate cowboys, cowgals, and cowbots in PC gaming. Yeehaw, I say, yee and haw.
E3 be damned, the hottest thing in gaming right now is Itch’s Bundle For Racial Justice And Equality. The absolutely giant bundle tonight passed its fundraising goal of $5,000,000 and is still going, and it is still adding more games. Such as: hey, Pyre is in there now, the gorgeous sporting story from Bastion devs Supergiant. As I write, there are now 1637 items in the bundle. It is a phenomenal bargain for an excellent cause.
Superbrothers, the co-creators of Sword & Sworcery EP, today announced their next game, Jett: The Far Shore. It’s an open-world exploration game scouting an alien ocean planet with systemic immersive sim-y bits going on and ooh I am interested. This time they’re collaborating with Pine Scented and, pertinent to your interests: the gang also drafted design help from Randy Smith, a Thief veteran and the designer of Waking Mars. Do go on.
At the point of Sony’s E3 PlayStation 5 stream when it wasn’t yet clear if all the games were exclusive or what, up popped Goodbye Volcano High and we could just tell: this would be on PC too. A game about sad teenage dinosaurs? No way that’s not on PC. Sony, PC invented> sad teenage animal games. Lo and behold, developers Ko_op (of Gnog fame) have since confirmed that Goodbye Volcano High will be on PC too. Have a look:
A jolt of cute Zelda-y vibes came today during Sony’s notE3 stream with the announcement of Kena: Bridge Of Souls, due out later this year. While this is Ember Lab’s first time making a video game, you actually might recognise their style from a Majora’s Mask CG short film they made a few years back. First, let’s look at Kena.
Perhaps the most enigmatic announcement in Sony’s PlayStation 5 stream was Pragmata, Capcom’s new… video game? I will be honest: I do not know what it is. Capcom are not saying what it is either. I can tell you it visits a city on the Moon (or a hologram of a city?), where something weird is going on. See for yourself in the trailer below.
Heart Machine, the creators of Hyper Light Drifter, have announced a 2021 launch for their second game, Solar Ash. Formerly known as Solar Ash Kingdom, it’s a speedy, stylish, and sk8y one with some real big baddies. Check out the new trailer:
