Following a terse announcement last E3, Bethesda today gave a nice look at GhostWire: Tokyo, the next horror game from The Evil Within studio Tango Gameworks. I had expected ghosts and Tokyo. I had not expected we’d be punching them and ripping out their ghosthearts with our magic fists. See for yourself in the “gameplay reveal trailer” below:

For Deathloop‘s unfortunate leading man, getting shot in the gut is simply another learning opportunity. Following its brief cinematic showing at E3 last year, Bethesda finally gave us a bloody good look at Arkane Lyon’s time-locked assassin during tonight’s PlayStation 5 reveal stream – a slick-as-hell recursive bloodbath that’s bringing supernatural hunter-vs-hunted showdowns to PC this winter.

One lovely surprise in Sony’s E3 pressblast was the appearance of Stray, a game about a lovely little cat with a backpack who’s exploring a Kowloon Walled City-esque cybercity filled with robots. If that sounds familiar, it might be because it’s been around in the works for years, formerly codenamed HK Project. I’d half-given up on ever seeing it again. But now I have! And the cat is: very good. And it has: a little robot friend.

At this year’s not-E3 Sony PlayStation Stream Not For Smelly PC Nerds they accidentally let some PC games slip into the line up (presumably they were all wearing fake moustaches and trench-coats with ‘DEFINITELY A SONY EXCLUSIVE’ embroidered on the back).

One of these was a game called Little Devil Inside, and all of us who stayed up to watch were immediately drawn to its new trailer, even though we weren’t fully sure what it actually was. You can check out the new trailer that so charmed us below, where you can see this weird but definitely charming action-adventure RPG in, well, action. But it turns out Little Devil Inside has been under our noses the whole time. We just weren’t paying enough attention.

Tonight during Sony’s big PlayStation 5 stream, Square Enix announced a surprise game codenamed Project Athia. Details are hazy (heck, even the name is hazy) but it looks like an action-adventure game with magical powers, big monsters, and the ability to parkour at great speed over pretty landscapes. I’m in. While the initial announcement only mentioned PS5, Squeenix have since confirmed it’s coming to PC too. See the swish trailer below.

Polish that chrome-dome, 47. It’s time for your final mission. Announced during Sony’s big ol’ PlayStation 5 reveal stream, Hitman 3 is gearing up for one last trilogy-ending job next January on Sony’s next-gen tellybox as well as PC and Xbox. True to form, our first look at Hitman 3 was an elusive one. A dark forest, sharp suits, high-society, and portrait of the high-collared hairless killer himself.

During Sony’s PlayStation stream today, Capcom announced Resident Evil Village, the next in their horror series. As rumoured, Village brings back RE7 star Ethan Winters and does indeed have werewolves. Or bioweapons who just so happen to look like werewolves, or however RE dresses up monsters these days. It’s due in 2021, and looks a little something like this:

We’re in the swing of it now, eh readers? Today’s kinda-sorta-E3 2020 streams are well underway, starting with The Escapist’s Indie Showcase earlier this afternoon. Fronted by that fast-talking internet lad from Zero Punctuation, the showcase kicked off today’s festivities with a flood of 80 game trailers over a 2-hour run-time. Frankly, that’s a lotta games, so here’s our rundown of what you may have missed.

ARK: Survival Evolved - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

As well as a load of old Samurai Shodown games for free, the Epic Games Store is this week giving away Ark: Survival Evolved for keepsies. That’s the one with the dinosaurs. The survival sandbox is still one of the most-played games on Steam, five years after first launching in early access, so maybe you’re curious to see what it’s all about?

Until Dawn developers Supermassive Games today announced that they’re delaying the second chapter of The Dark Pictures Anthology, Little Hope. The realities of a 200-person team working from home mean yeah, bit of a hold-up. Previously due this summer, the second of their eight interactive horror stories is now expected in the autumn. Hey, that’s a far more fitting season for unsuspecting college students to visit a small American town with a history of murderous witch hunts.
