It may have sat untouched for years, but don’t for a second think that Samurai Shodown has let its blade rust. After being given a contemporary coat of paint, a 3D reboot of SNK’s swordfighter arrived on the Epic Games Store today. But this warrior doesn’t ride alone. For the next week, six Shodown entries from ages past are available to pick up and keep, free of charge.

Mere days after Riot Games publicly declared a commitment to combating racism and injustice, they’ve needed to launch an investigation into one of their own executives for posting some real iffy garbage about the police killing of George Floyd on Facebook. It’s not the best look for a company still trying to recover from revelations of a rotten workplace culture of discrimination and harrassment. The League Of Legends and Valorant developers have tried to clean up their act and image since 2018’s revelations but progress has been stuttering and here we are again.

There’s always a bigger raft. At least, that’s how it goes in Windbound, which demonstrated some lovely open ocean boating in a new gameplay trailer during today’s Not-E3 festivities. First announced two months back, 5 Lives Studios’ next game is a sail ‘n’ survive with some serious Zelda vibes, set to land on Steam’s shores in a little over two months.

The first big publisher stream of notE3 is on tonight, with Sony showing off their PlayStation 5 and its games. That’s starting at 9pm (1pm Pacific). I would be very surprised if they don’t show any PC games, especially given that Sony are experimenting with bringing former PlayStation exclusives to PC. But if it is all PlayStation-only, hey, it will likely be pretty. Give you a sense of the fanciness big-budget games will be move into over the next few years.

After years of PlayStation exclusivity and one year of Epic exclusivity, Journey‘s travels finally brought it to Steam today. Developed by Thatgamecompany, Journey is a beautiful little adventure in which you play as a small cloaked figure trekking through a desert, with puzzles dotted about in your way. You don’t have to go through it all alone though, because you’ll come across other players in the world that can help you.

RimWorld - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Steve Hogarty)

Colony simulators can be overwhelming. Games like Dwarf Fortress and RimWorld use migration as both a fuel and a pressure valve, delivering caravan after caravan of fresh colonists at regular intervals to ensure the centre of balance of your community is always tipping forwards. Space Haven, which is set not on the filthy ground but in that big empty boob we call space>, flip-turns the usual template upside down. You command a ship that quite literally is always moving forwards, resources are scavenged from passing derelict hulls, and fresh crew pilfered from other ships.

Load up, load up, budding Death Stranding posties, as 505 Games have finally revealed the PC requirements for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming delivery simulator. The good news is that you only need a GTX 1060 or RX 590 graphics card to be able to run the game at 60fps at 1920×1080, provided you’ve got a decent processor to go with it of course, so it should be pretty manageable for most gaming PCs. The bad news is that it’s going to hog 80GB of space on your SSD, so you may want to start re-stacking those files to make sure your PC’s storage banks don’t topple over when it arrives on July 14th.

Spiderman has never been so popular. Thanks to Tom Holland and the MCU, who in the world doesn’t want to be Spiderman, web-slinging around buildings and beating up thugs with the twin fists of Great Power and Great Responsibility. Season 4 of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare is finally here. With a download size that’s practically bursting at the seams, Infinity Ward’s new season of shootmen brings updated playlists, a new battle pass and post-Gold mastery challenges to the Modern Warfare arsenal. Meanwhile, Call Of Duty: Warzone‘s battle royale has been buffed up with 50-a-side firefights and three new mid-game events – including a healthy dose of prison abolition.

Realm of the Ghost King - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Sin Vega)

You could fill a stadium with games that deserve a bigger audience. This marks the third time I’ve written about Realm Of The Ghost King (including calling it one of the best unknown games of 2018, out of thousands). It’s now part of the Itch Bundle For Racial Justice And Equality, and I hope it finally catches on.

It is terrific. Even though it’s a roguelike. You are a ghostie. You want a shot at the king, and standing in between him and you is a legion of monsters. But you have bombs. Oh, that age-old tale.
