Destiny 2 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

On Saturday, Destiny 2 held its first live in-game event, inviting players to witness the destruction of a vast spaceship on a collision course with Earth. Perched on the gantries and rooftops of the Tower, we watched the ship looming large in the sky and… waited. What many expected to be a few minutes of fireworks turned out to be 90 minutes of watching projectiles move almost imperceptibly slowly. I genuinely liked the big, sci-fi slowness of it all – even if I did miss part of the climax because I’d walked away to do household chores.

At the start of Apex Legends‘ fifth season, players witnessed Kings Canyon erupt after new Legend Loba went sneaking through a creepy underground lab. She set off all sorts of alarms and caused the facility to explode, changing the landscape of the map for good. Now there’s a whopping great hole where Skull Town used to be, various dig sites dotted around, and a few mysterious metal bunker doors in the ground. One dataminer reckons these bunker doors are about to open, and it looks like there’s some golden loot waiting inside.

Rogue Legacy - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (John Walker)

I’m not going to tell you how dreadful I am at Rogue Legacy. If I did you’d never invite me to play with your group in the playground again. But I am going to tell you how much I still enjoy playing Rogue Legacy, despite seemingly having failed to improve at it over seven years of playing.

With Rogue Legacy 2 possibly coming this summer, it seemed good timing to return to the 2013 original and explore what still makes it stand out from the crowd of rogues.

Graphics card deals

Welcome to another week of graphics card deals. This week, prices have stayed at a broadly similar level to what they were the week before with only a couple of pounds and dollars changing between listings. There are still a couple of graphics card deals worth their salt, though, particularly if you live in the US and happen to be keen on an AMD Radeon GPU. If that’s the case, a number of rebates make it a good time to buy, even if AMD’s free games bundle deal has now expired.

To help you keep track of all of the top graphics card deals that are going on right now, we’ve put together this list of all the best prices for the today’s [cms-block]s so you can see exactly how they compare against one another, and whether they’re a good buy or not. Regardless of whether you’re upgrading your PC or building a new PC from scratch, here are the cheapest graphics card deals on offer this week.

Sea of Thieves: 2025 Edition - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Katharine Castle)

After years of roaming the secluded waters of Xbox Game Pass and the Microsoft Windows Store, Sea Of Thieves has finally sailed onto Steam, and to help you make sure your PC is in ship shape condition, I’ve put together this handy guide on how to get the best performance from Rare’s pirate adventure so you’re not left lurching from one frame to the next as you plunder the high seas.

Below, you’ll find everything you need to get started with Sea Of Thieves, including the game’s PC requirements and which settings you can turn off to help keep that frame rate hoisted nice and high. After all, as one of the [cms-block] on PC, not to mention one of the best PC games to play in ultrawide, it would be a shame not to see this game at its very best.

Minecraft Dungeons loot tables

Some story missions in Minecraft Dungeons can contain a secret level. Some are always in the same place, but others may take multiple trips to unlock. When they are unlocked these secret missions could be long, semi-randomised dungeons, or they could be shorter levels with the chance to find some decent gear.

Minecraft Dungeons secret cow level

You may have heard the rumours about a secret cow level in Minecraft Dungeons. They’re true. In an homage to the long-standing bovine rumour and Easter Egg in the Diablo series, it seems that Minecraft Dungeons has its own take on the secret cow level that’s filled with Mooshrooms.

You will need to find nine hidden runes to unlock this hidden level, and once you do you’ll get access to the craziest secret area in the game.

Opus Magnum

is the most tactile game I’ve ever played. Playing it makes me remember last Christmas, when I was given one of those wooden assembly kits where you have to snap together the various wood pieces like a jigsaw to create a three-dimensional sculpture. In my case, it was a little steampunk clock, all interconnected gears and ornate swirls. Turning a gear at the bottom would turn other gears, and the minute and hour hands on the clock face would turn in tandem with the gears.

It was very fulfilling to piece together something so beautiful and functional. But what I remember most about it wasn’t the end result. It was the feeling of those wooden pieces snapping perfectly together. Like most people, I’m drawn to tactile things, and the right combination of texture, sound, and resistance can invoke a surprising emotional reaction in me.

Crucible Beta - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

It’s been a tough ol’ time for Crucible. Following a somewhat messy launch, the Amazon-backed hero shooter this week announced it’ll be shedding two of its three modes – ditching battle royale and territory control gametypes to focus on being a bit more MOBA, while delaying its first competitive season indefinitely to give the beleaguered beast some much-needed polish.

Screenshot Saturday Sundays! Shut the curtains, grab a piping mug of your favourite hot beverage, and join me as we once again see what those rascals in the game development community have come up over the last few days. This week: You can’t pet this dog, you can land this spaceship, you might make it to the beach, and you shouldn’t shake those hands.
