Patch v2.0 - CHALLENGE MODE & voice commands now available for Linux!

Hitler died 75 years ago to this day (April 30, 1945), so it's a fitting time to launch our first major free content update. Whether you're a green recruit or a grizzled veteran, there's never been another time to begin (another) tour of duty!

CHALLENGE MODE
We've added a new challenge mode option to all missions to up the difficulty (not for the faint of heart!). Instead of simply increasing enemy damage by 30% like most games, each scenario has a unique and hand-crafted difficulty added to it. For example, in Leonforte the enemy now has artillery, and the towns have additional fortifications. For the Hitler Line, expect a new fierce armoured counter-attack when you breach their line is breached! Beat all of of the missions in challenge mode to unlock a new steam achievement!

SPEECH RECOGNITION IMPROVEMENTS
Your voice is more powerful than ever! Thanks to everyone who donated their voice data, speech recognition performance has been improved for both US and UK speech models all across the board (but most specifically for problem terms "HOW", "JULIETT" and "FIRE BARRAGE AT").


Major
- Hand-crafted CHALLENGE MODE difficulty option for all missions

- Speech recognition performance improved thanks to user-donated speech data! (specifically "HOW", "JULIETT" and "FIRE BARRAGE AT")

Map Editor
- Made it so you can't save maps without entering a filename
- Fixed error saving map editor maps without administrator access

Balance
- Hitler Line: topmost enemy infantry replaced with AT-gun, added foxholes to towns themselves, altered nothern road
- Operation TONGA: added extra tank squadron to enemy counter-attack, made existing enemy tanks head to central town of Robehomme instead of stopping in Varaville, switched all units to dynamic AI for counter-attack
- Made AI tanks less content to garrison objectives (they'd rather attack)
- Minefields are now cleared if they deal a certain amount of damage (the enemy's triggered most of the mines)
- Falaise Gap: added road in south east of map

Minor
- Made AI counter-attacks use more available units (as opposed to only using the minimum required)
- Enlarged map compass text directions
- Removed unnecessary free-play option for tutorials
- Made units retreating out of mission from reaching objective landmark capture landmark before leaving


What's next? The next big free content update is scheduled for the anniversary of the D-Day landings (June 6th). Stay tuned!

You can help us improve the speech recognition! We've added a toggle to the bottom-right of the main-menu that records your voice commands. We'd be grateful if you help us improve the speech recognition performance on your bizarre accents.

We're working hard to make the game the best it can be, so good or bad, please leave a review with your thoughts and comments.

The New Universes: ~ Eine Neue Reise Beginnt ~ Chapter 1 - Atsumari
Hello,

This is the first combined community update that will be posted on all of our social media, Steam and Kickstarter. I am happy to announce even more progress has been made on the game; in addition, we have made improvements to our website to allow for easier support, easier key management and related things if you need something from us over the course of the game being developed. Below is a list of updates by type:

TNU: ENRB VN
- Final quality check run has been completed for version 1 to finish our first official build.
- Music patch will be released in the coming days along with this final quality checked version.
- We have begun minor work on the second part of ENRB Chapter 1.

Website
- We have added the ability for our customer support staff to log keys for customers allowing us to better track customer support requests.
- We have begun the launch of an online store that is currently in beta. Versions purchased through our online store will include a Steam Key.
- We have begun using Cloudflare to further protect our customers, servers and provide an extra layer of trust with the community by using a well-known service to handle pass-through across the internet.
- We now offer the ability for customers to reply directly to emails sent to our customer service team.

In addition to the above things The New Universes Project which is the organization behind the story we are producing here has begun its application for charitable exception with the IRS as the organization exists to create literary works and support others in doing so without the expectation of compensation. This VN is something of a hobbyist project for us and is being created with the TNU Project’s authorization. If you want to help write new stories, develop your own story or just have an interest in what the TNU Project is please visit our website. As was mentioned by a curator in a previous review the story we are using here is not a typical thing and is more a community-supported endeavor. We are always looking for feedback, new faces and contributions.

IMPROVEMENTS

It's now possible to 'cancel' the replace tile screen when acquiring a tile in the dungeon. It doesn't work in some circumstances (for instance, summoning minions) but should hopefully mitigate a lot of painful cases when players accidentally picked up a tile with a full inventory

BALANCE
  • #465 - Special NG+1 modifier for Muldorf "Your max deck size is -1"
  • The Toxic Blood rebuff in the Sanguine Grotto now reduces healing by 1 instead of cancelling it completely
  • Nukromancy Robes reworked. Cost reduced 2->1. Now reads 'While this is in your inventory, the cost to summon minions is reduced by 1"

BUGS
  • #447 Ancient Tome can now copy *any* tile acquired during the dungeon, instead of only tiles that were acquired after the Ancient Tome was created
  • #450 Shinobi Headband no longer triggers unless its active
  • #459 The attack bonus for minions from the Ventriloquist perk is now properly set after resuming a game
  • Soul Burst now has flavor text properly set
  • Cardoso's Chapeau no longer triggers if it's not active
  • Fixed a bug where selecting/de-selecting an item quickly would cause an 'arrow' to get stuck on it
  • Updated some strings in the Chinese version
  • When a crash that occurred on the 'Defeat' screen when the language was set to Spanish

Taskforce: The Mutants of October Morgane - Cornutopia
Huge updates to Taskforce today. I've added the ability to skip units which have moved, and restricted movement on top of odd tiles, like walking over pot-plants, this was actually possible! I've also added a lot more music options. Oddly, for me, there isn't much music in this game; I'd like to add more but time is so limited.

At least five of the missions have had big changes to the maps. I want to make everything non-linear, so that players are given a target but can do it in so many ways that there is no right or wrong or best way. In this mission, a tiny commando-style raid has been authorised; you take just 4 units and must enter a building at night with the aim of destroying a cluster of generators. You are massively outnumbered by armed guards, so must evade as much as possible. There are so many ways in and out of the building that you are free to choose. You can even walk right over the roof and enter the target zone itself without so much as a single guard. All a far cry from linear F.P.S. games with a start here and a target at the end of the hall, but of course, no route is necessarily best, and, just as in The Guns of Navarone, you must escape after the bombs go off.

The Blood Eclipse - Onionman
Hi there! I have fiiinaly added support for vr hands to the game. I am sorry it took so long, did have to learn a few things.

Anyway, you can now duel wield, grab items from your inventory, and throw them to your friends!

In addition, Oculus support has been added.

A Walk in the Woods - serginian
Now it is possible to explore the forest in Freewalk mode. In this mode you are not limited in movement and can walk wherever you want. It is time to return to the woods!

Collect as many as you can and bring them to Hefei's festival merchant Jiang Daxi for an assortment of rewards, guaranteed to take you further. Gold Nuggets can be found by defeating field mobs over level 150, and Gold Pipes can be found by defeating dungeon mobs over level 150.
