Announcing: IW2’s Prototype

Recently, Agent Coyle and JasonOCE sat down to discuss the IW2 prototype, giving you more information on what to expect, and how to get involved.

There’s some points that bare reiterating, and one or two things that were skipped in the video, so remember to read on here after you’ve finished the video above.

Purpose, Access, Timing, Value, Infection, and Communication.

Firstly, purpose.
The main purpose is to give the prototype to IW’s veteran players to get involved in, so they can give feedback on early development core systems, while also giving a refreshing experience to indulge in while Infinity Wars is suspended. We do want to innovate on systems that we liked in IW to make them feel even better, but we need your help making sure we’re getting the balance right, and that the features we’re implementing are improvements, and good for the core of what we want in our games.

Secondly, access.
The prototype will be instantly given for free to all of our backers on kickstarter and indiegogo, as well as all of the people who have purchased Infinity Heroes on Steam, as a thankyou for being one of our early supporters, as well as council members for Infinity Heroes. IW1 Council members can reach out and discuss things with community coordinator Jason if they’re interested in the project. As for everyone else, they can purchase the pre-order for the Prototype directly through Infinity Heroes for $5 ( 66% off ). This price will be active for the first 200 people who gain access, before going up to $10. It will require access to Infinity Heroes, but will come with it’s own perks, appropriate to the total price you pay. ( See: Value )

Third, Timing.
We have an internal timeframe we’re working towards, but with changes to how we work ( and the entire world in the outbreak ) we’re less comfortable committing to these overtly. We’re sharing our roadmap at the bottom of this post to give you an idea on what we want to get done before we release to you all, but please keep in mind that we’ll be doing a lot to make sure that things are released slowly, when they are ready, to avoid overly pressuring the dev team, and putting strain on ourselves in a VERY sensitive year of our existence. Fourth, Value.
The value associated with the purchase needs to be worthwhile as a thankyou. There’s a large series of benefits for getting into Infinity Heroes beta which you can find on the Steam Page, but let’s talk about IW2’s prototype specifically. Number one is impact, being able to give feedback on the core systems directly to the dev team and influence development of the game we ALL want to play. Number two is access to IW2, and a timed exclusive volcanic play area in both IW2 and IH to keep forever. We’re not taking to crowdfunding IW2 any time soon, and this will be acting in it’s place for people who want to support the project financially early on, and get access to the full game when it releases. Important note, IW2’s monetisation is still not yet finalized, and we’re not sure if it will be free to play or not, but in the instance of IW2 being a pay to play title, all prototype build players will be acting as preorders to the game itself. Number three, is just giving our core IW players something to do during the world’s downtime, and seeing how the game shapes up over the coming months. It won’t be a replacement for Infinity Wars for some time, but hopefully you enjoy what it becomes.



Fifth, Infection.
Our team is spread over both our studios in two different states, so transitioning to working from home hasn’t been overly difficult, with very few communication and production issues arising so far, but as a studio we’ve been doing what we can to help our team do what they can to stay safe, and we’re looking to do more as a company. So, we’ll be donating a portion of all our sales and proceeds during all of April to supporting the Covid-19 relief effort. Our current plan is to donate directly to the World Health Organization’s Covid-19 Response fund. Alongside this, we have plans for charity events and live streams in the future when we work out the details. Keep an eye out on Facebook and Discord for information on when they come about.

And finally, Communication.
Due to lockdowns and our team’s safety, we’re placing the InfinityCast onto an indefinite hiatus, and in it’s place, we’ll be having sit down interview style chats between Jason and Coyle, as we did with the original video. The rest of the dev team has a lot to focus on with IH and IW2, so we’ll be seeing a bit less of them in video form, but we might find fun ways to bring them in and include their input from the safety of their own homes, while not impacting development efforts. Most of our updates towards IW2 will be taking place on Youtube and Facebook, as well as the Discord. Updates via Steam news will be infrequent, only giving you the most important bits, so if you want to follow updates actively, check out the social media links in this post, or at the bottom below the roadmap.

Radical Relocation is a physics based puzzle game in which you’re moving house. “What’s radical about that?” you ask. Well, you have to stack everything on your own car. Reptiles: In Hunt - corpixgames
Ancient times
When the Earth was ruled by dinosaurs and the human species did not yet exist, the Reptilians visited our planet. It was an alien civilization that created life on this planet. They treated our planet like a safari, a big larder with food for their people. Dinosaur meat was their treat. They came to our planet on a great hunt and flew away. When a huge meteorite hit our planet and the dinosaurs slowly died out, our planet was no longer interesting to the Reptilians.



First contact
Millions of years later, their planet met the same fate. The Reptilian civilization was almost completely destroyed by a huge meteorite, and a few Reptilians escaped to another planet that allowed them to live. That planet was Earth. The Reptilians were very surprised that on our planet, intelligent beings evolved, and their civilization was exceptionally strong. The aliens, fearing death at the hands of humans, blended into the crowd. Thanks to advanced technology they were able to deceive human senses and were unrecognizable. They lived quite simply among humans, but their goal was to take control of humans and ultimately be the dominant species. Unfortunately, the Earth's climate made the Reptilians completely infertile. The only possibility was to transform a human child into a Reptiliana with a genetic change. They could have done this, but the disappearing children were a source of concern, and this could lead to the discovery of the secret about the Reptilians who were hiding among them. They chose to manipulate people to destroy them and take control of Earth.



Great war with Reptilians
For centuries, the Reptilians have slowly taken over power in key state positions. When, in the end, despite their small population, they possessed a power that could destroy humanity, they attacked. The nuclear bombs were fired to kill as many people as possible without completely destroying the planet. The Reptilians, thanks to their innate resistance to radiation, were finally able to rule the Earth, and the human survivors were forced to hide in the sewers.

Brave New World
100 years after the annihilation, their technology surpassed that of humans, and their only problem was still fertility. They also recreated the extinct dinosaurs, which quickly spread throughout the planet. The apocalypse caused an increased greenhouse effect, resulting in increased vegetation and a more tropical climate. When the radiation stopped being dangerous to people, they went to the surface and started to build villages and small settlements. The Reptilians still can't deal with fertility. They're still hunting young people turning them into Reptilians and murdering adult people.

Hello Galactic Survivalists!
It’s wednesday again! First and foremost: We hope you are all well - and if not, we hope you will get well very soon! And because we got a lot of concerned emails and messages: Everyone in the team is Ok or is already getting better. Thanks a lot for all the wishes. :)

We have been kind of silent the last 2 weeks, simply because a lot of code work had to happen, to flesh out the features.

Today we have a mix of different things that made good progress and got added until recently.
  1. The Empyrion ingame card game?
    Our Modelling team has been busy with some new stuff. We added two new devices (we will not disclose just yet. Sorry ;) ) and a few others, like the Zirax CV turrets that are currently in a finishing phase.

    A new entry to the blocks and devices are two gambling tables.



    What started as an internal use case, just for testing the NPC Dialogue system with a Black Jack script, found some interest in the tester group and the team itself. So we thought: Where Star Trek TNG has had Poker, Star Wars has Sabacc, BSG has Triad Cars .. how would the favored Card-game based amusement of Polaris, Talon, Zirax and other species in Andromeda be named and how would it work?
    Any ideas? Let us know your suggestions for a name and a system! We might use it! :)

  2. New playfield types!
    While the galaxy has grown the amount of stars to fill with something to explore, we are constantly looking for new playfield types to integrate. While we are happy to review any suggestion you send us via email, we have opened the CUSTOM PLAYFIELDS forum for that purpose.

    That being said, reworks of old playfield types and new iterations, are in the works already. A new Ice Moon and a Forest Moon will be part of the mix, soon.




    Hint: Alpha 12 will also see the addition of a menacing “Legacy Faction” playfield type, which will reveal a lot of what this faction is up to. Playfield will be revealed in the next weeks. ;)

  3. New models and resources!
    In Alpha 12 we will not only have Ice available on Asteroids in space eventually, but we will also add a new resource to the game the first time ever: Titanium

    And while we added a forest moon with endless quantities of Plant Fiber, and because the item has become a very popular meme in the current pandemic times, we added Toilet paper (including a slightly updated toilet model) as an item for your very discreete player avatar needs as well. Of course you cannot buy it at a trader. ;)

    Feel free to make suggestions which status effect we should allow to be cured with it! (except the obvious ;)



  4. Respawn changes
    Alpha 12 will also see some changes in the Respawn mechanic which everyone, who has run into a literal dead end, might like.

    First, the survival tent is now a possible respawn option. When you die, you can select the closest survival tent from the respawn menu. So make sure to be prepared.

    Second: you will now get a respawn option, even if you have NO home-button checked CV or BA or even a survival tent. You can respawn in a Clone Chamber or Medbay of the CLOSEST BA or CV that belongs to you or your faction, even if these structures have not been set in the HOME checkbox in the Control Panel!

    In addition, you get a third way of respawning: When you are at least NEUTRAL with a NPC Faction AND you discovered one of their stations, equipped with either Medbay or Clone Chamber, before, you will get offered the closest of these stations as a respawn option as well!

  5. Registry and Markers
    We are currently reworking how the REGISTRY works. Not only because the Registry needed an update to handle the new star systems, but with Alpha 12 it will offer a lot more options and work more like a real Journey-book, where all your discoveries are noted. Not only your own or your faction's stuff, but also terrain placeables like Autominers, ore deposits and a lot more. Filters will help to manage all these entries.

    In addition, when setting a Waypoint on one of those entries, those markers are now visible on planets while you are in space - and vice versa!

    And: the markers will also work in space as a pre-set warp target. So aim for them, accelerate and warp right away! No need to hammer the Lock-Target Button on the Map anymore.

As a closing comment - and because we got asked this quite a lot: we are currently preparing for the Experimental to start mid of April (if nothing goes wrong). As always: No liability assumed. :D

Can't Drive This - The Captain
Hey everyone,

Remember all those times we told you that we're working on a big update, and we just needed some more time?

Well, guess what...

We just uploaded the New Can't Drive This, and it's ready for you to play.
We know you've been waiting for this for a long time, so let us just start by saying thank you, for sticking with us.

So, what's new
What did we change? Well, pretty much everything.
Every line of code has been improved or rewritten.
Every model has been replaced with a prettier model.
Every physics glitch has been patched with a funnier physics glitch.

Here are just a few major changes we made:
    Entirely new vehicle physics.Your vehicle is now a lot more fun to drive – no more frustrating moments when the car just doesn't behave the way you expect it to.New, prettier Monster Truck.I'll just let this image speak for itself.More beautiful environmentWe swapped the old, infinitely empty ocean, for a rich environment, so your eyes don't get bored should you ever not be looking at the track.You should, however, always be looking at the track.Completely new tilesThe style of the tiles matches the new detail-richness of the rest of the game.
