Love, Money, Rock'n'Roll - Soviet Games

Dear friends,

These months the world has been facing an unprecedented challenge in this chapter of human history. Not being a news site, we would still like to throw in our two cents regarding the situation that is, in one way or another, concerning everybody for the time being.

In the era, when the digital economy develops and flourishes, the Internet is becoming more and more present in all aspects of our lives, and the prior socioeconomic and political models are getting outdated, the necessity of reshaping the way we and our successors are going to live on this planet as a species and individuals is growing evident. The historical processes are mostly inert, and even radical changes such as revolutions do not alter common people’s daily lives at once. Unfortunately, the current event is yet another confirmation of that: the global threat did not make the ones, who are responsible for their nations’ well-being, put aside their interests and fake ideas about the universal justice to unite in the presence of something more sinister than the stock market crash or the oil trade war. Virtual liquidities of several individuals, expressed in numbers with many zeros, are ephemeral and may disappear instantly when real menaces come into play. As it turned out, the GDP volume, the book values of the biggest enterprises and the curve of economic growth are not always correlated with the ability to quickly and adequately address the global challenges. Therefore, we hope that in the 21st century, human’s life is still going to be valued above private property.

On the other hand, this pandemic has again proved the common truth: your conscience is the best moral controller. If everyone is to take prudent measures to protect themselves, we will hopefully have this nightmare left in the past by the summer. Take care of yourselves and your close ones!

As for the development of LMR, the pandemic does not influence it. In fact, many of us have got more time to work on the game due to fulfilling the working duties remotely.

Since most of you are obliged to stay home as well (and wait for LMR), you can use this opportunity to play Everlasting Summer once again or enjoy one of the multiple modes created for it. Meanwhile, you can also make a preorder of LMR here and get some pleasant bonuses.

Hey Fox Riders,

Here's a video that we just had the time to do before confinement. It's about a very important aspect of Nanotale which is the lore and encyclopedia.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III - Durante
Hi everyone!

I hope you are enjoying Trails of Cold Steel III!
We just released a minor update which fixes a startup crash issue on uncommon system configurations:
  • Fixed a crash on startup when launching the game on a system with no audio devices while having video playback enabled.

Note on Reverting to Previous Versions
While we of course aim for each new version to only solve issues and provide improvements over all previous ones, it is always possible for something to break on some particular configuration.
Therefore, we keep all versions available as Beta branches in Steam. Should an update lead to issues on your system, you can revert to a previous branch by selecting "Properties" -> "Betas" in the Steam library and choosing a version from the drop down menu. If you can confirm that the new version caused a problem, please report it as a regression.

Hello Warriors!

From this update, we will try to add some fast-paced, battle-based, less player requested gameplay, and the “free combat” is our first try.

Major update
  • Added free combat gameplay, 6 players per match, unlimited revival.
  • Added compete mode and revival mode. Players can set up the combat equips in the compete mode.
  • Adjusted the operations of rushing and rolling, removed the magic value. Removed abilities of some combat skills to pass through the enemy.
  • Updated the animation of being attacked, it has been refined from the previous one into many. The animations attacked by the enemy from up, down, left and right are different now, which are same in the previous version.

Free combat gameplay
  • Players scale: 6 players (solo)
  • Map: Silent Cemetery
  • Scoring rule: Players can get 1 point through knocking down one other player. Assists cannot be scored, and players need get the final attack to get scores.
  • Revival rule: If you are knocked down, you will respawn at random locations. In this mode, each respawn will randomly change equips without re-pickup.
  • Winning rule: The player who reach 20 points wins; if no players reaches this goal at the end of the time, the players with the most points wins.

Compete mode and Revival mode
  • In compete mode, players can freely configure equips and wear them every time they respawn. All equips will occupy the equips points, so that it is difficult for players to match a very perfect character, and some trade-offs need to be made. Some collocations tend to be survivable, some collocations tend to be offensive, and some are good at poking.
  • Other gameplay that do not require pre-installation will be classified in the revival mode.

Combat system adjustment
  • The rushing operation is changed from long-pressing the space bar to quickly clicking twice on the arrow keys. This is a common design used in arcade games. This change can make some attack requires rushing much easier to launch, and we will decide whether to increase the limit to sprint attack after a period of time.
  • The rolling operation is triggered from the previous press of the space, and it is modified to trigger immediately when it is pressed. This will make the rolling operation more immediate.
  • Removed the magic value, and related items. Now the spell using is only limited by the cool down time.
  • Removed the pass through function of dagger’s combat skill, katana’s combat skill and pyrodance, as they caused some jitter bugs and could not be resolved for a long time.

Have fun in dungeon!

Gloria Victis: Medieval MMORPG - BartoldGV
By the courtesy of our friends from FishTankStudio – the Reveal Trailer of Gloria Victis: Siege Survival. Enjoy watching and be sure to add the game to your wishlist!

https://youtu.be/mMPWPv0cSkU

Gloria Victis: Siege is an upcoming survival resource management game in the style of This War of Mine, set in the medieval world of Gloria Victis MMORPG. The debut project of FishTankStudio is also going to be the first game published by Black Eye Games, and the second installment in the Gloria Victis setting.

Your homeland is drowning in war and chaos. As a group of civilians trapped under siege, you’ll face the ordeal of surviving the invasion. Though you do not participate in the fighting, the castle’s fate is in your hands.

Support the last soldiers standing against overwhelming enemy forces. Craft supplies and manage your resources during the day, and scavenge through the fallen city during the night. You must stand until the rescue comes!

A new take on a medieval war – a unique vision of a castle siege, shown from the perspective of the citizens struggling to just live one more day.
Endure the siege – Find ways to preserve food, and develop your infrastructure to use your supplies more effectively. Take the risk of sneaking into the fallen city plundered by the invaders to find precious resources, trade with scavengers, and help the surviving citizens – or exploit them.
Meaningful decisions – in a war, no decision is plain good or bad so you’ll have to choose between sustaining the soldiers’ strength and taking care of your own survival while maintaining your crew’s morale.
Built-in level and scenario editor – a complete dev-kit will be provided, allowing the users to tell their own stories, or to re-create the events from the history of the Gloria Victis world.
Memorable atmosphere – Realistic visuals and an amazing soundtrack created by Marcin Przybyłowicz and Magdalena Urbańska make Gloria Victis: Siege a truly emotional experience.

Moreover, we’ve got a huge update for you – read below for details!

World & Content:

The center of the map has been updated to become a much more populated PvP place out of State of War time. What has changed?

– We have added a new rare world boss – the Kargald Champion. The people of frosty Kargald belong to the most dreadful warriors of the world who raided the countless tribes. The wild look of their helmets fills the heart of their enemies with fear – and now they invaded your land! The Kargald Champion can be found find in the middle of the map – with randomized time and spawn points. In his loot, you can find unique items which allow you to add extra attributes for character or mount. not connected with level, so from now you can add 20 more attributes points!
– We have added 3 new Event Chains: Black Sickle, Outlumbered, Heathen Plague and refreshed 3 others: The Griffins Company, Rogue Highlanders, Enclave of the Rejected. They are added for 2 reasons:
1) New possibilities to level-up and extra earnings
2) Extra activities while hunting for the world boss

3 of the events are available from 40 level: Black Sickle, Outlumbered, Enclave of the Rejected. The other 3 are available from level 60.

Quality of Life:

– Added a new feature decreasing non cleave player damage by 70% if the hit went trough the ally player first. There were no change to cleave attacks as they were already dealing less damage based on each target they hit, including allies.
This change is pretty deep in terms of balancing the game, and should promote smaller skirmishes instead of fighting in one big blob. The damage decrease percentage and entire feature is something we want to check in the battle, please remember to leave us a feedback about that change.
– Added indicators of hits going trough the ally players.
– Implemented a new mechanics allowing players to unlock additional 20 attribute points by using special items which drop from the bosses on the center of the map. Those points pool of player points are not being lost while using restat of attributes.
– Implemented a new mecahnics allowing horses to have unlocked additional 20 attribute points by using special items which drop the bosses on the center of the map. Horse points are being added to the specific, active horse.
– Updated the mounts-related abilities, combining some of them together to make the horse build affecting foot fight less. We want a horseman to be a subclass, just like a medic instead of full class to not prevent horseman players from taking part in the Sieges. Due to the changes done to abilities, every character receives a free reset of abilities – they can be claimed at the Notification Center for the next 14 days
– Added Holy Temples links to the Guild Castles, they are harder to take by the enemy and so are less vulnerable to cutting off the nation from the fast travel to their GC increasing the Holy Temples value.
– Decreased base stamina horse usage to ensure riding on horse is more efficient way to travel long distances
– Player stamina regen is no longer blocked by riding the horse on the fast speed
– Removed bonus regen to player stamina for moving slowly/not moving while being at horse (no changes while regenerating on foot)
– Added new stat to K/D/A window which is sum of kills and assists
– Added new horse hp and stamina UI
– Increased max level to participate on events around Swamp, Leaktown, Twinfall and Audun into 70 from previous 50.
– Added the missing event near the Audunstede for killing deserters
– Added an additional information while trying to launch the game using Steam Family Sharing which leads to "Invalid Steam Token" error, now it will be much clearer for the users who had that issue.
– Added new skin to the game which will be unlocked to all players who were logged in the game in the last week, from the moment of reaching 10 000 wishlists of Gloria Victis: Siege, and it will be added to the shop by that time.

Fixes:

– Fixed an issue leading to not loading friend lists for some players
– Fixed the wrongly shown number of cooldown time to use fast travel to Guild Castle
– Fixed an issue which made horse stamina regen being blocked when player stamina regen was blocked
– Fixed an issue which made castles which were abandoned by the guild were bugging further tokens put in the same server session
– Fixed an issue which lead to showing wrong amount of experience required to level up a horse
– Fixed an case of receiving traitor debuff while fighting on the small arenas.
– Fixed an edge case which every relog while having traitor debuff increased it's time by one hour
– Fixed an edge case of player dying on the open world, who was been damaged on the arena before causing traitor to assisting players.
– Fixed an edge case of event for Raubritter Rejected not spawning mobs on the second wave of the event.
– Fixed an edge case issue of tutorials videos not appearing
– Fixed a bug allowing to get under the floor of the inner sanctum at the Sirius’ castle

  • Fixed an issue with flipped pipes and ornate charges displaying incorrectly in graphics compatibility mode.
  • Known issue: Detailed module fragments are currently missing.
  • Known issue: Due to Apple's increasing restrictions, the game may no longer launch on OS X Catalina. I'm looking to see if I can fix this.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister - Myzzrym
Hey there everyone,

The current situation may not be ideal, but it’s not going to stop us from making our scheduled Dev Update! We hope you’re all doing well out there - on our side we’ve all switched to working from home. The good thing about being a small team is that it makes us a bit more agile, so we’re still able to make good progress on Solasta as we speak!

As you can see our productivity remains unaffected.

March Contest - Design Your Magic Weapon
Little reminder: you still have one week to submit your Magic Weapon Design for a chance to have it implemented in-game at launch! On March 31st, we will select our favorite submissions and the voting phase will begin!

Don’t miss your chance to make your magic weapon a reality in Solasta!

Solasta Alpha Footage!
We all know it’s been forever since we’ve released gameplay video footage of Solasta outside very short gifs in our Dev Updates. Thing is, you always wonder: when is your game "good enough" to show to the world? Is the lighting too strong here? Does this bug really look bad? Will people understand that X and Y are temporary? So on and so forth.

However, with the Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition making its sudden appearance and Solasta’s Pre-Alpha Demo once again being available (although not anymore, the event ended yesterday morning), we wanted to make sure people understood that the game had evolved since our Kickstarter. This is why we made a short video bundling quite a few previously unavailable features on Twitter last Friday, which you can enjoy in Full HD here.

Click here to watch the video!

What is this Spell?
One feedback that stayed with us ever since we released our Kickstarter Demo was that Spell Icons were not clear. You would look at your spell bar and go "alright, I’m pretty sure my cleric should have cure wounds, but where is it..."

Aside from a few of them that are fairly obvious, would you be able to name all these spells from their old icons alone?

While they all looked quite beautiful (at the very least I really liked them), our Art Director decided to change the art style of our spell icons - to improve glance value and readability. Here is a side by side comparison of a few of these spells, which are all going to receive the same treatment in the coming weeks.

It’s hard to deny that the new ones are much easier to recognize.

Speaking of spells, we’ve just added Fog Cloud to the game. Time to obscure those lines of sight!

Character Creation Update
You’ve seen quite a few updates on our Character Creation Tool, and today’s Dev Update is not going to be the exception! Our goal is to have it completely done soon, so we can set it aside and focus on other parts of the game.

The High Elves join the fray in our Character Creation Tool...

And so do the Half-Elves!

Now all that remains are the Island Halflings and the Hill Dwarves, and we should have a complete lineup for our races!

Environment Update
One Snow Alliance Embassy, ready to go! Here is how it looks in-game compared to its original Concept Art.

Pretty impressive rendition of the original 2D concept art, isn’t it!

We’ll also share with you a couple of screenshots of an external location that your party will have to explore fairly early in their adventure. Watch your step, you don’t want to fall in that ravine...

Giant Eagles Join the Fight!
Our second flying enemy just joined the roster of foes you’ll have to face. Give giant eagles a warm welcome!

Tactical Adventures assures you that no eagles were harmed in the making of these gifs.

Bloopers!
You may have noticed the lack of Thunderwave so far in our Spells FX updates. Truth be told, we did have Thunderwave in-game (you may remember it was available in our Pre-Alpa Demo) - but the format wasn’t quite right. The spell was automatically centered around the caster, which a few players made sure to inform us about! So we fixed it. And by that I mean, we introduced a new bug while doing so. Here is a little demonstration of what happens after you get hit by Thunderwave.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!

We also just hit 2,000 followers on Twitter, which was the perfect occasion for me to sneak behind the back of our Producer and ask our Lead Animator (father of many horrible and hilarious gifs) for a little something for the occasion. And trust me, he delivered! Alas, poor goblin - you were never supposed to do things like this.

Goblins doing thumbs-up, check. I may yet win this bingo game.

That’s it for today! Hope you enjoyed our Dev Update, see you next week for more Solasta goodness!
