Dota 2‘s latest update has given everyone’s favourite lizard-riding grandma the ability to swallow her friends and spit them at her enemies. If you thought being tossed by Tiny was annoying, wait until you’re in the belly of Snapfire’s salamander.

Despite having to cancel its homestands due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Overwatch League isn’t giving up on the 2020 season just yet. Instead of taking their show on the road, Blizzard have set up a brand new schedule to host League matches online. There are obviously some complications with holding competitive events like this online when the teams are so spread across the globe however, so things are going to be a little bit different for games in the coming weeks.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been posting photographs from an archaeological expedition into the RPS Minecraft server. Having left the place to go fallow last October, I had assumed it had been quietly abandoned, as often happens to these multiplayer sandboxes when their founders move on.

But I should have had more faith in the server’s denizens, for it turns out that this strange place didn’t fall into dilapidation at all, when the winter set in. Quite the opposite: using the mod powers I granted them all as a farewell gift, it seems the occupants quietly got on with reshaping the entire world into a sprawling monument to their collective, gestalt whimsy. Here are some of the things I saw in the final part of that expedition:.

I won the very first game I played of Call Of Duty: Warzone Solos last night. It was tense, frequently frantic, and above all an excellent lesson in how the shift from Squads to Solos changes everything, from weapon choices to playstyles and more. Our Call Of Duty: Warzone Solos tips will help you quickly get your bearings in this brand new mode, so you can give yourself the best chance of winning the match and sending everyone who crosses your path to the Gulag.

HTC have announced they’re going to be bundling in free copies of Half-Life: Alyx with every Vive Cosmos Elite VR headset today – and that includes everyone who pre-ordered the headset as well. With basically every games event cancelled or postponed by coronavirus concerns, Valve are launching a virtual showcase of games that would have been on show. The Steam Game Festival: Spring Edition will start tonight with over forty games on show and free demos for folks at home to play until Monday. That’s nice, that. I’d be nice if this sort of thing became a permanent fixture of the gaming scene.

It is time to Exit The Gungeon. Please form an orderly queue, there are plenty of bullets to go around.

Exit The Gungeon is a side-on platforming spin off from Dodge Rolls’ shootey roguelike Enter The Gungeon. A mobile version came out on Apple Arcade back in September, but last night it escaped to Steam, too. I’ve played a little and enjoyed destroying sentient bullets with an electric guitar.

It’s yer deals herald back again with some more red hot savings, and today’s bumper crop of game deals comes courtesy of Humble, who have just opened the floodgates on their brand-new Capcom Mega Bundle. There’s everything here from Resi games to Mega Man, including 50% off vouchers for last year’s excellent Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 if you pay more than the average, too. After all, what better way is there to survive an epidemic than by fighting a virtual one indoors? Here’s how it all works.

Last month, I fell somewhat in love with an ultra-gentle, early access management sim about freshwater fish. Among Ripples: Shallow Waters is, even as a proof of concept demo, a solid tycoon game. But what really took me was its take on the “tycoon” part. This isn’t a game about chewing up a disposable world for resources, but about tending, shepherding and expanding ecosystems, back into the spaces chewed up by human expansion. Better still, it isn’t framed with “wE’Re AlL dEad, tImE to LeT tHe cOckrOacHes HavE a TurN!!!” nihilism, it’s about compassionate, sober-minded people in the near future, working hard after a rough time to make things beautiful again.
