It is hard to believe spring begins in thirteen days. It’s not even really stopped snowing. But by god, I’m ready for spring. Seeing crocuses blooming has been a real treat.

What are you playing this weekend? Here’s what we’re clicking on!

Macho cops in tactical gear are out and what’s in instead? Wizards in riot gear and traffic-cop neon. Yup. Flashlights and lighning bolts are better for taking out crime syndicates than flashbangs. Tactical Breach Wizards is a small-scale strategy game about breaking into rooms full of armed and mohawked baddies and incapacitating them with strategic spell work. Suspicious Developments are about to roll out keys to their first beta test, which you can sign up for now.

We’re less one neon-splashed tech dystopia this April but it looks like another is pulling in to fill its space. Cyberpunk 2077‘s original April date got pushed back but Cloudpunk will be raising the cyberpunk flag this spring instead. This story-led adventure puts you behind the wheel as new delivery driver Rania learning the ropes in the giant, vertical city of Nivalis. As a driver for the “semi-legal” delivery company Cloudpunk, Rania will meet all sorts of local future people. Ion Lands have released a new trailer today with a launch date side dish.

Long in the works Black Mesa the fan-made Half-Life remake is out. For real. It’s been in development longer than some folks who might play it today have been alive. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Lauren Morton)

There’s a short list of things that I really must know about every game or so I thought. Popular Twitter account “CanYouPetTheDog” cleverly identified one. Apparently we all really> wanted to know if we could pet digital dogs in games that have friendly fluffs. In one of those moves that makes you go “why didn’t I think of that?” the creator has now spun off a second account that lets you know if there’s a secret to be found behind a waterfall. Seriously, how did I not think of this?

It’s been 28 years since 1992’s Dune II, and like many people out there, I’d long ago stopped seriously hoping for another videogame to do justice to Frank Herbert’s legendary science fiction series. So it’s with surprise and delight, then, that I can tell you the best Dune game in three decades is here… and it’s a procedurally generated sitcom, played through a colony management game. Because while RimWorld: Royalty, the first DLC for Ludeon Studios’ space settlement hit, isn’t jaw-dropping in terms of the raw bulk of features it adds to the game, what it does for the game’s atmosphere – for me at least – is properly magic.

Destiny 2 - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Alice O'Connor)

Eververse, the premiere Destiny 2 fashion house, last night revealed its spring collection of street wear for Season Of The Worthy. Reactions from fashionistas have been loud and charged. I adore this collection, welcoming the option for some more casual duds, even if the Warlock outfit in the middle is so ludicrously, wonderfully, decadently uncasual (a look I think works for the class). The big shock is the outfits for the agile, tricksy, gunslinging Hunter and the beefy, punchy, hammerhurling Titan. You thought it was the Hunter on the left, right? Naw mate, that’s a Titan. The lad with the big plated arms is the Hunter. It’s catwalk chaos.

Taxinaut is a top-down space taxi simulator in which you can make pocket money by yelling back at people who insult you.

It’s available as of today, and I have a real soft spot for it.

Folks still like freebies ’round these parts, right? Hope so, because there’s a pretty kickin’ lineup of games to snatch on the Epic Games Store over the next week. Offworld Trading Company and Gonner are both free right now. That’s one capitalism strategy simulator and one procedurally generated platformer for your library. Both are free until March 12th, at which point Epic roll out three more free games: A Short Hike, Mutazione, and Anodyne 2: Return To Dust.
