Hellooo Fated Ones!

As promised from our previous post, here is our updated and detailed roadmap as of February 28, 2020. It is a bit later than we anticipated, but we were taking the time to ensure we could commit to these deadlines and updates as best as possible before we posted about it. Please note this roadmap can be subject to change and we commit to letting you know if it does.

We are deep into the development of the next update (Smoothness) which is due in March 2020. This first update is a small one that we wanted to publish as soon as possible to address some of the rough edges of the current version (hence the title “Smoothness”).

The next updates are all going to be big updates, full of features and content.

The Living Walls update will bring a new world (the 4th one), full of enemies and new challenges.

The (still untitled) 5th world update will focus more on improving the game diversity, with enhanced enemies and more diverse room types.

The (also still untitled) 6th world update will bring the end-game, with adjustments to the difficulty (for both starting players, and post-game experts), as well as adding more build options.

If you made it this far, please enjoy how our “game over” screen is coming along. As a little treat.

Out of Space - Saulotti
Hello everyone!

This launch was a diffcult one. But now everything is running smooth as intented. You can now play singleplayer, local multiplayer, invite your friends for a private match and/or start matchmaking for a public game.

This last 24 hours we had a big issue with a infinite loop running in our game due to a specific feature using Steam API servers. We had never had this problem before during the whole Early Access program, but in the launch day of the game we had this issue. Day 1, could you believe it?

Thanks for understanding. We worked hard to fix it right away.
Please enjoy the game!

Godhood - info

Gods and Goddesses, our new update is finally here!
The "Newfound Shores" Milestone update is ready for you Early Access gods to play with! We're proud and excited to present this big step forward to you!

In short; we made huge improvements to the game and how it plays. Previously, we were not meeting the bar we set ourselves out to achieve. Thanks to you, both supporters and critics, we found ways to make steps forwards. For this update, we focused on the core playability of the game to lay a strong and fun foundation. We're happy with the result you can play now!

We're not done with Godhood yet, either! This update will be the base for our future work. If you'd like, you can inspect our Roadmap and give us some feedback.

Without further ado, here are the release notes!

NEW FEATURES:
- Islands: Go to differently themed island to convert the unenlightened. Each island has different challenges and rewards. Collect the sunstones to become the one Truth!
- Generosity: A new commandment for you to spread!
- Human Sacrifice: A new tenet to play with!

BIG CHANGES:
- Time & Turns: Pressure is removed from the game to make place for God Actions. You will now have a fixed (upgradeable) number of actions between Missions. Rituals either complete immediately or take a Mission to complete.
- Dreams: Appear in the dreams of your Disciples to prepare them for coming challenges!
- Rituals: You can now permanently improve your disciples with Rituals. They're not as effective as Miracles though.
- City Management: There is now one, central, convenient place to build structures, upgrade them, or unlock classes.
- Classes: Every commandment starts with 4 unlocked classes. You can unlock more with Materials.
- Developments & Followers: Followers unlock some buildings, and will be important for the end game and your high score. Developments slowly unlock as you complete Missions or when you collect Development Sparks.
- Crystal Skulls: You have much more Crystal Skulls, and more chances to upgrade and replenish them. The more crystal skulls you have when you complete a mission, the more rewards you can choose from!
- Sacrament Conversion: Instead of depleting an Awe bar, there are now two other ways of victory:
- converting half or more of the crowd with your glory.
- breaking all opponents. Violence works best here.
- When a Disciple is broken, that faction loses 30% of it's converts in the Sacrament.
- Broken: A broken character loses a bond. Once a characters loses all 3 bonds, they leave your religion.
- Ability Styles: Abilities now have a style of conversion, like Fear or Grace. Disciples have a preferred conversion style, and are more likely to learn these abilities. Some passives already work with it, but it will become more important in the future...
- Offerings: You can spend offerings to improve the effect of your actions!

CHANGES:
- Tutorial: Game comes with an improved tutorial.
- Development Trees: Development trees are more balanced, and have more options.
- Big Miracles: The commandment miracles have special effects.
- Music: Some new music has been added.
- Adoption: Converting a whole island will give you the chance to adopt one of their tenets.
- Upgrades: There are many, many more and better upgrades. e.g. upgrade the amount of XP you get from a Sacrament, or what kind of dreams you can give to your Disciples.
- Many More: Many more smaller changes!

FIXES
- So much that I don't know where to begin. The Mac/ blocked text bug is still there though, unfortunately. :(

Have criticism or ideas for the game going forward? Please leave them in one of our forums! Enjoying where the game is going? You can help us out with a review or a kind word. :)

We hope you'll enjoy the update, and are looking forward with us to the future of Godhood!

Deep Rock Galactic - Soren - Captain of Ghost Ship
Hello Miners!

As promised yesterday, we have an updated Roadmap for you, and it should hopefully help answer most of the burning questions you might have!

Right now, we're laser-focused on getting Deep Rock Galactic ready for the actual 1.0 launch sometime during Q2 2020. During this time, we'll be revisiting old systems in need of some well-deserved love, as well getting the game polished to a mirror shine. Update 28 started a lot of this, with the much-discussed Perk Rework, as well as the first batch of improvements to the Space Rig and its overall layout. And with the separation of Weapon Skins into Paintjobs and Frameworks, we also gave all Dwarves many more options in terms of expressing their personality through the looks of their weapons. These are key themes that you will continue seeing as we get the game prepared for 1.0.

Before we're ready to hit the big switch and launch 1.0, we will squeeze in one more update - Update 29. It will feature a lot of under-the-hood optimization and improvements, but more visibly it will see more work done to the Space Rig, a much needed graphical overhaul of the trusty old Drop Pod, and a full visual customization system for your pickaxes. AND, hallelujah, we're finally getting in proper item icons for all your phat lewt!

Update 29 will also bring a new and improved Greenbeard experience, with a brand new tutorial flow, and handy contextual hints. And of interest for any dwarf regardless of experience, we will also see the introduction of the Miner's Manual - an ingame repository of information about all kinds of Deep Rock Galactic related things.

And finally, Update 29 will also include another Weapon Balance pass, touching on many of the issues both we and yourselves have brought up regarding certain weapons.

After 29, we will be officially heading into launch. The Launch Update will not introduce any major new features, but it will still include some pretty tasty things. Apart from a whole lot more bugfixes and optimizations, it will expand the game's soundtrack with almost an hour more of synthy goodness, and it will enable a whole bunch of new Promotion Ranks and associated rewards.

And beyond that - well - depending on the reception of the game upon launch, the sky is more or less the limit. We have a stack of new things we'd like in the game stretching almost to our ceiling, based both on our own wishes and those voiced by our frankly awesome fanbase. The work you're putting in to assist us in making DRG the best game it can
be remains absolutely priceless.

One thing we KNOW we will focus on right after launch, however, is a return to the real meat and bones of the gameplay. We've devoted a ton of necessary work on fleshing out the game's surrounding systems for a long time now, but it's high time we turn our eyes back on the caves themselves. You can at the very least expect more Mission Types after launch, since that's something we rate very very highly on our list of wishes. And once we know a bit more, we will of course update you guys in our usual ways - blog posts, roadmaps, and so forth.

So until then, keep the bullets flying, the blood and ideas flowing, and we shall get back to you again very soon!

Rock and Stone!

The Riftbreaker - voidreaver

Hey there!

We would like to thank you for all the feedback and the positive reception of The Riftbreaker. It’s great to see so many people joining us on our journey every day. Today, instead of our traditional Friday devlog, we would like to present to you an updated version of our official FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions). It has been updated with all the latest information available on the project.

If you happen to have any additional questions, leave a comment or catch us on Discord.

What kind of game is The Riftbreaker?
The Riftbreaker is a base building game with elements of action RPG, exploration and survival.

Is this similar to Factorio and They Are Billions?
A little bit. Both these games served as an inspiration for us, with a little bit of Diablo sprinkled in as well. The list of our inspirations is quite extensive.

What platforms will it be available on?
PC, Playstation and Xbox. Nintendo Switch is not planned at the moment, but it’s not out of the question.

Can I play using a gamepad/mouse/keyboard?
We designed the controls with both keyboard + mouse and gamepads in mind.

When will it be released?
Our current prediction is late 2020. This might change, of course.

Is the release date October 21st?
No. It’s been a running joke in our community because of what Voidreaver said on one of our streams. Here’s the clip - https://www.twitch.tv/exorstudios/clip/FunnyCreativeWolfDoggo

Is it free to play?
No. The Riftbreaker is a premium game, you’ll need to buy it in order to play.

Will it cost $60?
We don’t know the exact price but it will be lower than $60.

Is this Unity/Godot/Unreal?
None of the above. The Riftbreaker runs on our own engine called The Schmetterling.

...but why?
When we were starting out we couldn’t afford a good engine and the free tools were not as good as they are today. We decided to create our own tech and simply kept expanding on it.

How is it that your engine is called The Schmetterling, which is a German word, although you are a Polish studio?
There are two stories behind this. The first one is that it's 'lightweight, beautiful and fast' - just like a butterfly (Schmetterling is a butterfly in German). The second (and the true one) is that the lead programmer thought that the word sounds funny, and we decided to just roll with it.

What are the system requirements for the game?
We don’t have the exact specs yet, but we will do our best to optimize the game well and make it run smoothly on most PCs, not just the high-end ones.

Will there be microtransactions?
Definitely not. There might be DLCs offering additional content, but no microtransactions that allow you to gain an advantage in the game or progress more quickly.

Is there an alpha/beta I can join?
We are planning to launch an alpha test very soon. You can find the link to the application form on our Discord in the #faq channel.

Alpha keys when?
We don’t know exactly. We are planning to release closed Alpha keys in small batches over time. We are currently preparing crash and bug reporting tools for the game. This way you will be able to easily send us feedback, and we will solve your problems a lot faster. We are also finishing a large portion of new gameplay features that we’d like to be included in the nearest update.

Are there any keys out yet?
Yes, a select group of streamers and influencers received a chance to have an early first look at the game. A few people from our Discord community received access as well.

When I get access to Alpha, is the game mine to keep forever?
Unfortunately, no. The test keys will be deactivated before launch. We may decide to gift full game keys to the most active members of the closed testing phase.

Where can I see the unedited gameplay?
We stream from our office twice a week. Tuesdays at 3 PM CET we are live on Mixer. Thursdays, 3 PM CET - Twitch. Follow us to get notifications - www.mixer.com/exor_studios and www.twitch.tv/exorstudios - you can also watch VODs if you can’t watch us live.

Can I stream the game?
Of course! We even have special features to integrate the game with your Mixer/Twitch chat. Simply let us know about your channel in the Alpha application.

What game modes are there in the game?
We are planning a story campaign, a survival mode, and a sandbox mode.

Is there multiplayer?
Not at the moment. We are going to release the game with singleplayer only. After that, we will start working on online coop. We are a small team and need to set priorities - hope you understand. ;)

How long is the game going to be?
We don’t know the exact length of the Story Campaign. A typical Survival Mode run lasts about 60-120 minutes, and you can additionally tweak that number using the custom difficulty settings.

Can I pilot a different Mech?
No. Mr. Riggs is the only Mech in the game, but we are thinking about adding some customization options for you.

Can I change the character I play?
No. Ashley is the only playable character in The Riftbreaker.

Can I upgrade the Mech?
Yes! Researching new technologies and tools to equip Mr. Riggs with will be a major aspect of the game. You can expect a lot of options in that regard.

Can I travel to different planets?
No. The action of The Riftbreaker takes place on Galatea 37, a planet in the distant reaches of the Milky Way. Your task is to prepare it for human colonization, so it will be the only planet you see in the game. There will be plenty of places to visit, so do not worry.

Is there only one map we can play on?
No. The levels are procedurally generated, so each playthrough is going to be different.

Do you visit different places during the campaign?
Yes, the campaign will require you to discover and visit a lot of new biomes. They are treated as separate maps, though, and will be separated by loading screens.

Can we automate things or use drones?
Most of the basic operations, such as resource collection and ammo production do not require any action from the player. You just need to build factories and you’re set. We are also going to give you the option of using drones for some more advanced things.

Can I build an army of automated units to defend my base?
No. In The Riftbreaker you use a variety of defensive towers and Mr. Riggs himself to defeat your enemies. There is no option to build or control other units.

Will there be mods?
We are not going to obfuscate the game file structure at all, so you are free to tweak the parameters any way you want. We will give you access to most or all of our internal game development tools

If you can think of any additional questions we can add to this FAQ, let us know.
