Jupiter Hell - slizgi

Introducing Jupiter Hell update 0.8.8 a.k.a. Gunslinger! A most requested DRL feature is making a comeback - dual wielding of pistols! Apart from that, there's new stuff to find, balance changes and bugfixes, so let's jump right in!

Gunslinger
The new Marine and Scout trait allows you to finally relive your Hollywood fantasy and run in guns blazin. With this trait you can dual wield pistols, revolvers and SMGs or any combination thereof. Game-wise this is achieved by having the trait and two consecutive slots with applicable weapons - you pick the first and it wields both! Both guns are shot at the same time, and reloaded at the same time - with a slight penalty. Not to leave Tech in the dust, we moved to him the Headshot trait (which still is very strong!). To celebrate the new trait we're bringing back the fan-favorite DRL challenge - Angel of Marksmanship!.

Health orbs
Balancing healing items has been a pain for us, until we reminded ourselves of a feature that should have been there from the start - health orbs! These are powerups that you pickup automatically when you walk over them. But fear not that you need to avoid them not to waste health points - they overheal with no penalty, so there's no reason not to pick them up on sight! Contrary to their original implementation health over 100% doesn't decay, but is reset back to max at level exit. Thanks to that we've been able to balance health drops better and it will be easier to balance health in the future as well!

Rare mods
There's new loot to be found, rare mods. Contrary to regular mods, these do not increase statistics, but bestow known ADV traits on any weapon (ADV and Exotics not excluded!) you wish that has a mod slot left. There are five of those available now, Frenzy, Loader, Vampiric, EMP and Cold - we tried to pick those trats that will make finding one of them always useful. More may come in the future. With a bit of luck you can now build some really overpowered shit :P

Callisto changes
The three most boring level generator layouts in Callisto have been improved, and all Callisto generators were fixed to drop the requested amount of loot boxes and support vaults if present. In general especially on easier levels there should be more items found in the early game.

Balance pass
Apart from balancing pistol traits due to dual wield being available, we gave a general range buff to ALL shotguns. They should feel a bit better now, without giving too much buff to those pesky sergeants. We also made a significant balance pass on late game enemy presence and a bit on stats - in general the amount of armored ravagers has been reduced, and CRI bots nerfed a little (they now come in two equally common variants, the other has a plasma rifle-like weapon). We're keeping a close eye on later game balance and will probably do more changes there next update!

Trait view
Long requested UI/UX enhancement - there's a new panel (shortcut "v" on keyboard or switch panels from inventory) with the list of all available traits - colorized and browsable with info what is already picked. Additionally you can also look up class information if you didn't pay attention on the class choice screen :)

Angel of Mercy
And finally for the masochistic among you is a Challenge of the ridiculous sort (hey, people DID beat Angel of New York Reload!), which is a variation on the Angel of Pacifism theme - each kill drains your maximum health! You get some extra experience each level to offset it a bit though - good luck, you're gonna need it!

Fixes
And finally the regular batch of fixes is in, those that weren't serious enough to be hotfixed - list in the changelog.

Soldiers!

As you know, the fight against illegal software is in full swing: the anti-cheat gets constantly updated and efficiently blocks violators. But that's not all! In case you still face a cheater in Ranked Matches, we have prepared yet another line of defense. In the near future, we plan to launch a system of compensations for matches lost against cheaters. Now, if you lose against a team that included a dishonest player, this fight will be registered as a victory in your match history!

DETAILS
Since it is a fairly complex mechanism, the work on it is carried out in several stages. The new system has already passed internal tests. Now it is time for its initial launch on battle servers, but only for a limited number of players. Our technical specialists will monitor the correct operation of the system. At the end of the article you can find the answers to possible questions regarding the work of the new system.

The basic principle is that after being processed by the new system, a battle against a cheater will be represented as a victory in your match history under the following conditions:

You were defeated by the team that included a dishonest player.
Currently you are in a lower or in the same league than you occupied when you lost a match against a cheater.
At the same time, the advance to the next league is possible if the lost match was decisive.

ABOUT THE DECISIVE MATCH
The decisive match determines the further movement between leagues: the advancement to a higher league if you win or the return to the previous one in case of defeat. For example, if in the 14th league (where you need to win 2 matches out of 4 played) you lose twice and win once, the last match will be decisive. In case of victory you will advance to the 13th league, if you lose, you will roll back to the 15th league.

This means that the system is able to make up for the disappointment from meeting a cheater, but cannot help you significantly advance up the leagues. Your progress will continue to depend on your skills and abilities.

The system's operation will be accompanied by an in-game notification, do not miss it! To update your rank, you will need to re-enter the game. Please, note that during the testing period the system will work once a day.

FAQ
Q: I have played against a cheater in Ranked Matches, but the match results were never changed. Why?
A:At the initial stage, the system embraces a limited number of players. Most likely you did not get on this list, so, please, wait for the general launch.

Q: Upon losing a decisive match to a cheater, I did not advance to the next league but rolled back to the previous one. What can I do?
A: When the system reviews the results of the battle against a cheater, you will be transferred to the next league, as if you had won the decisive match.

Q:An hour passed after I played a match against a cheater. Why is it still reflected as a defeat?
A:The system works once a day; so, please, give it some time.

We will keep you updated, stay tuned!

Stoneshard: Prologue - Wayfinder

Hello everyone!

As a reminder, it’s just 3 days until the Early Access release! That’s why we’d like to answer some of the most frequently asked questions as well as tell you about the current status of the game, what will happen during the EA, and our plans for the future.

Early Access is just the beginning of the long way, which we are yet to walk with your support. There are still lots of mechanics and content to be added. We’ll need approximately 2 years to implement everything we’ve planned.

Let’s start with the most important part - the current content. Right now the basic gameplay cycle is pretty much in place. Combat, dungeon crawling, health system, character development, and economy are all functional.

To fully explore all the content with one character, you’ll need around 7-10 hours, which is roughly translated into gaining 8-10 experience levels.

Currently in-game content includes:
  • Two settlements - Osbrook and Mannshire
  • Two types of dungeons
  • Three enemy factions: brigands, the undead, proselytes
  • 16 types of contracts
  • 200+ items and 100+ abilities
  • Hunting
  • Health system
  • Economy

Unfortunately we couldn’t implement everything we had planned by February 6, so some of the content (new boss, a couple of new skill trees, expanded dialogues and so on) will be added with the first update – Trollslayer, which will be released in March. This february will mostly be spent on fixing reported bugs and adjusting balance.

For now, let us introduce our roadmap:

Keep in mind that new content and features are not limited to things listed in the roadmap, they only represent high priority targets. The listed dates are an approximation and may be subject to change in the future versions of the roadmap. We may also add or remove features at our discretion.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Supporter pack. It will be available on release for $10 and will include OST along with two unique starting items (they don’t offer major gameplay advantage). In the future the pack will be expanded with, among other things, a digital manual and an artbook. These items are granted automatically to every purchaser of the Supporter pack, there will be no need to buy them separately.
  • The Prologue. It will be included in the main game, so you won’t have to download and play the Prologue as a separate game. It also doesn’t matter how you complete it or what items, experience, character build, etc. you acquire there -- these things are part of the story of a separate character. If you’ve already finished the Prologue, you’ll be able to start playing in an open world right away.
  • Permadeath. Even though the game is balanced around permadeath mechanic, enabling it is purely optional, and you’ll be able to turn it off when starting a new game. If you play without permadeath, you can resume your game from the latest save.
  • Save system. It’s only possible to save the game in taverns. To save your progress, you need to find a tavern, rent a room, and sleep for any amount of time. Unfortunately the game’s engine doesn’t allow saving anywhere and anytime when the game is this expansive.
  • Progress wipes. Large updates which add new mechanics will likely lead to save file incompatibility. However, if you want to continue playing as a character from a previous version, you can rollback to the previous version of the game via Steam game options.
  • Languages. English, Russian, Chinese, German and semi-official fanmade Polish will be available on release. We also plan to add the following languages soon: Spanish, French, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese. The work on them will begin soon after the EA release. In the future we also plan to add Korean and Japanese localizations.
  • Multiplayer and co-op. They are not planned, the game is an exclusively single-player experience.
  • Achievements and trading cards. They are planned, but not for the nearest future.
  • The main story is not yet available. For now there is only a sandbox mode, where you can travel between the settlements, fulfill contracts, and explore dungeons. We want to finish the game mechanics and content first before we add the main story as a single large expansion, which will arrive right before the game leaves the Early Access.
  • Full keyboard and gamepad support. At the moment the controls are designed for the mouse, but we plan to improve keyboard controls in the future and add gamepad support.
  • Mac and Linux. The game will be available for Linux on release. Mac OS support will be added later, the date is TBA.
  • GOG release. It’s planned, but not for the first few months.

If you still have questions, you can ask them in the comments below. That’s it for now.

Thank you for your support and see you on February 6!
