Legends of Runeterra has a lot of skills and abilities hidden on each of their cards using keywords. They range from being able to prevent damage to a unit, to ensuring an enemy can’t block your attackers. With so many keywords though, there are some interactions that are not obvious to those who haven’t played much of the game, with the consequence being that you could lose the game due to a misunderstanding of what an ability does.

Last year, D&D & Magic The Gathering publishers Wizards Of The Coast hired James Ohlen to head up a new studio. He was the creative director/lead designer on Dragon Age: Origins and Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, so naturally I am tracking his movements. We now know a teensy bit more about Archetype Entertainment’s debut project, which will be set in an “all-new science fiction universe that will send players on a story-driven epic where choices they make will have real consequences on how their story unfolds”.

Those are big, familiar words, but that’s also a big name to back them up. Wizards have nabbed BioWare Austin studio director Chad Robertson, too.

Children, life s great copy-paste. Adorable, drooling idiots with no self-control and a habit of yelling embarrassing facts to the entire supermarket. In our everyday lives, human children are a snotty emblem of hope, vulnerability, and aspiration. In videogames, they are a cursed harbinger of escort missions, narrative roadblocks, cutesy voice acting, and precocious dialogue. They are annoying. But hold on, that s the point. Many of them are meant to be that way. So here is a list of the 10 most annoying children in PC games. And perhaps, the best annoying?

There are, these days, far too many games to play. Well, there were always too many games to play. But only since the advent of digital distribution, have their numbers so wildly and obviously exceeded my capacity to get through them all. If I ve heard of a game, the odds are I can have it on my PC in as little as a couple of minutes. It s a wonder beyond anything I could have dreamed of as a kid, but it s also a wonder I might not have wished for. A wilderness of sweets, as Milton oh-so-subversively described Eden.

When my family first had a PC, I was 11. It wasn t a great PC, and games were expensive, so I didn t get new ones that often. It was, somehow, actually possible to run out of games. So I played everything I could get my hands on. Demo discs from magazines. Chip s Challenge. Fucken Encarta>. But the real bonanza, however, came during the school summer holidays, when mum (who was a teacher) would bring home a grab-bag assortment of janky educational titles for me to beast my way through over the break. Enter, then Logical Journey Of The Zoombinis.

FOR HONORâ„¢ - contact@rockpapershotgun.com (Natalie Clayton)

I’ve not kept up with the plot of For Honor, a game where buff lads and lasses chop each other’s limbs off with elaborate pointy sticks. But as Ubisoft’s brawny fighter enters its fourth year, they’re putting down the swords – if only for a little while. While Year 4 might be the “Year of Reckoning”, Season 1 is entitled “Hope”, and sees all three factions holding nervous truce. Oh, they’ll get to decapitating soon enough, but for now, there’s a platter of shiny gear to be earned, through a new battle pass arriving next week.

Crikey, glad that’s over. It looked like we’d lost Steam for a couple of hours. Today’s outage not only affected store listings, community pages, friends lists and workshop access, but also took several of Valve’s lovely multiplayer gunshoots/wizard bashers/hat-acquirers offline. Countless poor Steam users were forced to do other things with their time – playing their Steam games alone, going elsewhere for their online kicks, or perhaps even stepping away from their computers entirely to make a nice cuppa.

There are changes afoot in Overwatch. Blizzard, well aware of long-standing grievances against the state of high-level competitive play, and have come up with two bangers to help breathe some life into their multi-million-dollar team shooter. Overwatch will soon host a new Experimental Card, letting the devs get wet n’ wild with whatever balances changes they fancy. Meanwhile, March will arrive with a new Hero Pool for Competitive Play, booting a different handful of the game’s colourful characters from the roster each and every week.
